I knew it was quick when it happily pulled away from a friends 270-280bhp GT4 with no fuss, never realised it had all those hidden bits... I bought it as a "standard" car with a Scoobysport Backbox on it. Those Mk1 Astras are rare as hell now, if you do see one, they tend to be extremely well looked after. I'm not a vauxhall fan, but I do like them. Cheers, Grant

Haha, I've done alright considering I'm only 25... just tend to get bored of cars and see something else that I fancy giving a try. Always seem to return to a Subaru though. Cheers, Grant

You've wanted the Audi for so long, I'd say you should go and have a poke around and drive of an RS4.... it should make things a little clearer. Remember that with something like a Milltek fitted, the RS4 will sound pretty spectacular as well. Cheers, Grant

Yep, its a young lad that bought it off me and to be honest... he's an ar$e. I was getting told by loads of people that they'd seen him driving it like a tool and 6 months after he bought it, he turned up at my door saying the gearbox was giving up the ghost and he wanted half his money back to fix it. ...I managed to keep my temper and can actually laugh about it now. This is an interesting post, Emoe, thats a LOT of different cars you've had...... I drove a Phase 2 Clio Challenge car at a Palmersport Magnificent 7 Day at Bedford, I couldn't believe how much fun it was, the gearbox was absolutely awesome to use too. Cheers, Grant

Haha, must be weird seeing your car popping up on t'internet, I'm happy to know that all my old Imprezas have stayed in the Owners Club now. Hows the car going anyway?? Cheers, Grant

- 1997 Toyota Celica GT4: Bought mechanically/visually standard as a blank canvas to work with, came in the very rare Storm Grey colour. Spent a lot of money on the car and it still needed work done, so I punted it on after getting fed up of it. Power: 317.7bhp @ 1.05bar - 1993 Ford Escort RS2000: Saw this car for sale on the RS Owners Club recently for a good price so decided to go along for a wee peek at it.. well I liked what I saw, so I decided to buy it there and then..... Has a few mods on it and drives really well. Sold to a mate for him to use as a runaround. Power: 165bhp - 1999 Subaru Impreza Turbo: Was looking for a car to take dog around, mum could use occasionally for bad weather driving to her work and as a replacement for when I sold the Grey Celica as it was pissing me off.. found this absolute bargain on Autotrader and gave guy deposit over phone without seeing it, 29k miles, FSSH, mint condition... in Essex!! I actually made good money on the car by trading it in for the SpecG. Power: 240bhp (estimate) - 2007 Subaru Impreza STi Spec G: Got pissed off with older cars costing me money to maintain when they broke, and money for mods to make them the way I wanted them to be. So I decided to go a bit balls out and buy a brand new Scoob with the intention of leaving it alone......... which lasted about 4 days before I put an exhaust on it, cause it sounded **** as standard. Done a few more mods to it since, and its almost exactly how I want it to be, defo the best car I've ever owned. Power: 355bhp & 390lb/ft - 2000 Ford Ka: Needed a new runaround when the Rover gave up the ghost and shat its bottom end during a mapping session on my private stretch of dual carriageway. Had always fancied a Ka since I had a blast in one as a courtesy car back in the day, but couldnt justify spending a lot of money on something that was gonna get the back seats ripped out, covered in dog hair and thrown around roundabouts at comical speeds... until this wee bargain came up. Its had 1 elderly owner from new, mint condition, never been welded or had paint and runs like a dream. Power: 65bhp (estimate) - 1996 Honda Integra Type R (JDM): Decided to sell the Scoob and had a deal lined up.. so cause I'd always wanted a Black DC2 I went out and bought this Teg from a guy in Fife. Well, unfortunately, that deal with the Impreza went tits up and now I've got both cars...... at the moment. The teg is amazing around the back roads, I'd probably say I'm as quick in that car around a twisty b-road as I am in the SpecG.. its THAT good. Power: 200bhp (estimate) There we go... up to date now. Cheers, Grant

Saw this on another site I use and I decided to update my car history to include the current chariots... have a wee read through and then add yours at the end, I think its interesting to see what sort of cars people were into before they found Scoobs. This is a LONG post and people rolling on a bad boy 56k connection might want to go make a cup of tea while it loads. - 1986 Mk2 XR2 (not actual pic): Had this car for about 6 months, properly good banter... until I left it somewhere in Fife and it got trashed. Power: 100bhp (estimated) - 1992 Citroen BX GTi 16v (not actual pic): Bought this when I lost my XR2, it cost me 80quid and lasted about a fortnight before I burnt the clutch out and left it sitting there. Power: 150bhp (Citroen Figs.) - 2000 Mondeo 2.0 Zetec: First 'proper' car and it was pretty quick, did a lot of miles in it cause I was working thru in Kirkcaldy at the time.. when I'd finished with it, I gave it to my dad so he could use it in London and not worry about getting dents/dings in his car. Power: 136bhp (Ford Figs.) - 1992 Series 2 RS Turbo: Always promised myself an S2 and when I got rid of the Mondeo I decided to bite the bullet and go for it.. so managed to buy a J-Reg 1992 RS Turbo, one of 8 that were registered. I absolutely loved this car and threw thousands at it. Power: 167bhp @ wheels, 0.9bar. - 1999 Subaru Impreza Turbo: After having the RS, I was addicted to Turbo power.. and having friends with Imprezas didnt help. I was getting pissed off at the RS being tempremental in traffic and breaking wee things now and again..... so, I went and bought this from Town and County in Perth. Power: 260-270bhp (estimated) - 1999 Honda Civic VTi: Got offered a crazy deal for my Impreza above, so I decided to swap for this Civic plus a mountain of cash.. as it turns out, this car was one of my all time favorites. It was quick, handled well, sounded awesome and it never ever let me down despite getting a large amount of VTEC every day. Power: 175bhp - 1998 Subaru Impreza Turbo: One of my friends in the Subaru Owners Club was wanting to move away from his Impreza for something a little less expensive to run so a straight swap deal was done.. and I set to work transforming the look of the new Scoob...... this was one of my best looking cars IMO, still in the area too. Power: 240bhp (estimated) - 1993 Honda Civic VTi: Bought this from a guy I knew in the area, had a load of mods on it.. and was quick. So after I blew it up the first night I had it, I went for a B18 conversion on it..... after that it really did go like a train, things werent meant to be though and it spun a bearing and I sold it on eBay and recovered pretty much all my money I'd spent. Power: 169bhp - 1994 Toyota Celica GT4 WRC: This was the quickest car that I've ever owned and it sounded the absolute bollox, JUN Cams, TD06 Turbo, External Wastegate and Screamer Pipe... awesome, bought this off one of my best mates after he'd spent a lot of money on it. Great fun, smoked loads of stuff in that including a 911 Carrera 4S & new E55 AMG among other things. Power: 400.3bhp @ 0.9bar - 1992 Peugeot 205 GTi: This was ****, smoked like a bitch, didnt go fast, didnt sound nice and it felt like raindrops would dent the bodywork.. but it was clean and it handled well. Power: 60bhp, max (estimate) - 1992 Rover 216 GTi: This is the funniest car I've owned, still got it. Its got the Twin Cam Honda Engine so its actually pretty quick and with the DIY Motorsport Induction Kit I've fitted to it, it sounds awesome too.. List of kills include Saxo VTS, Vectra 2.0 16v and numerous other Corsas etc. Power: 120bhp (estimate) - 1999 Subaru Impreza Turbo PPP: This was the cleanest Impreza I'd ever seen when I bought it, 40k miles, rare colour, well cared for, low owners... Bought a few parts for it, then got an offer from a guy I know through in Arbroath so I sold it on to him. Power: 260bhp @ 1.15bar - 1996 Vauxhall Omega Elite Estate: I remembered my old man having one of these when they were new and it was the most comfortable car I've ever been in.. so went and bought one as a runaround.. it didnt drift for **** but it was comfortable, damn thirsty on the fuel though. Power: 200bhp (estimate) .......Part 2 below.......

Always liked Black Classics and I really like the wheels on the new WRX mate. Cheers, Grant

Its really difficult to sell these cars at the moment, even with quality mods and a shedload of reciepts and history... to be honest, to sell your car with mods/miles/history, I think you'd be looking at 8k tops mate. Cheers, Grant

The wheels on the SpecG are Rota P1's in 18" mate.. when I bought them they were only available in the manly 5x114.3 fitment too. As far as I know, the tints are like David said, heatgun/hairdryer until you are able to turn up a corner and start un-peeling them. Take it slowly though, otherwise it'll tear off tiny strips at a time and it'll take ages!! Probably have quite a bit of residue left on the glass after it, but should come off easily with some elbow grease and quality glass cleaner. Cheers, Grant -
This is a bad thing and I think that a lot of people will fail these tests, not just Subaru owners but there are LOTS of different makes which tend to be loud as fook once you stick an exhaust system on. How do they rule against cars that are running big boost with ext. wastegates and screamer pipes, surely a screamer pipe is putting out pretty severe dB but wont show up if you're just revving it standing still as its designed to operate under load. Unless they're going to monitor it constantly throughout the trackday at a set point on the circuit and black flag 'offenders' with loud cars, this is flawed rule. Cheers, Grant

Cal, I've had a couple of sets of Speedlines, is it... ...those wheels you're talking about, or... ...those ones on my Blue Wagon?? The first ones are Speedline GT1 and the second set are Speedline ST2. Cheers, Grant -
Something from Stuttgart?? Cheers, Grant

Brilliant spec and an almost perfect base to mould to your needs... I'm sure that The Patriot will serve you well. Cheers, Grant -
1. This car is extremely good value for money, ok, its not an STi but it has got a proven and well spec'd engine in it... and as its going to get a reasonably hard life around KH and the local twisties that (for me) is more important than looks etc. 2. Looks like a clean and original STi, I know the guy that bought his old Yellow GT4 and it was a lovely car that had been properly looked after. Would probably need a bit of money spent on it to make it safe and sound for the job you want. 3. Again, clean looking and fairly original STi.. same as above really, good base for some of your own mods, but its the more expensive way to do it. 4. No comment. 5. Very clean, and the guy has got pretty awesome feedback from the past 5 years for the items he's sold. Would be wanting to see reciepts for the work that he says has been carried out, however if it checks out then that could be a brilliant buy; a Classic STi RA would tick the right boxes. 6. WRX RA, looks nice.. but best to stick with STi stuff if you're going for a more original, non-modified base. Obviously, if you're considering modified stuff then a WRX like Pedals' car is defo worth a look at. The McRae edition also has a pretty tasty spec list, however, if the guy that currently owns it isn't an enthusiast then he might not have treated it to the correct parts/procedures that a car like that needs to stay in top condition.... and it was done 2.5 years and 20k miles ago, so you'd want to be confident that it'd been looked after properly before you give it the CGS treatment round KH. Cheers, Grant

Hahaha quality. Cheers, Grant

Some brilliant photos here, disappointed that I never saw the 4wd boys tackle the wet right/left we were sitting at... but seeing fully committed MK2 Escorts flying through the bends was pretty special. Cheers, Grant

Just a quick post to apologise to those who thought that a comment of "I suppose you think this is funny" from Mrs John R Weir was directed at them in the car park at the Perth meeting point... Brief explanation: I used to work in Sales @ the Perth Dealership and left about 6-7 months ago after changes in the Management structure had a severe effect on morale and performance. However as I later found out when visiting my old sales colleagues a few weeks after I left, ex-employees are banned from coming back to JRW property according to the *cough* that had became my Manager. So, after talking to my mate about it while we were stuck in traffic on the way home, I can only assume that Mrs Weir thought that I'd got a group of my pals out of their bed early on a Saturday morning to park their cars in the car park in an effort to shake The Weir Empire?! Cheers, Grant

Hmmmm, it seems really cheap... might be worth a look if its got a lot of paperwork to back it up and you get a decent vibe off the seller, but also could be worth getting the car looked over by a local well known specialist in the area, or at the very least, the AA vehicle inspection guys who go over the cars completely and send you a long and detailed report on everything. *Edit* - just looked at the 2nd link and from the description, location and username I'd be wary that this isn't just some shady boyracer thats got a bit of cash to buy quick cars, rag them around for a while and then sell them on... Cheers, Grant -
Tayside are running about in a new EVO 10 in Dark Blue just now... Cheers Grant

Its a Black JDM DC2 that I bought on an impluse to replace the SpecG... however, its was a bit too much of a jump performance-wise and I didn't think it through properly, so the Scoob is now back on the drive along with the Integra. Going to be taking pictures and writing a full spec list of the Teg tomorrow before sticking it up on Pistonheads etc. (Sorry for the thread hi-jack) Cheers, Grant

I'm gonna guess at 345bhp & 375lb/ft. Cheers, Grant

Pretty sure the S2K doesnt have the Brembos fitted and I think its 5x114.3 rather than the 5x100 that you need...... however, being multi-fitment, might work out ok?? I think that Oobster has these wheels on his WRX?? Cheers, Grant
