Nicely said marc and i agree, it's gone off topic. Perhaps gumball can create a new thread to discuss the anomolies of rolling roads and achieved figures? as there seems to be issues with his car. (fuel, boost) Hopefully a new thread won't become a slanging match but a thread where we can all learn from it. -

I'm confused now. You not happy with not getting 1.7bar in the midrange? (won't affect peak power figure), or are you not happy cause you didn't make the 400 figure? -

<< i reset my defi's before it started and the boost didnt reach peak. i didnt realise until it was 40 miles south of aberdeen. >> A bit curious gumball. You say your car is mapped to 1.5 bar. Is it still getting 1.5 bar? Is the car mapped 1.5 bar to the redline? or is it a peak of 1.5 bar and tails off to say 1.4 bar to the redline? You didn't use full throttle/boost anywhere within that 40 miles when you checked your Defi's? If you didn't use full throttle/boost, then fair do's, but i'd most likely have used full throttle at some point in that mileage. Cars performance is too addictive not to! If you did use full throttle, then maybe something has happened since it was mapped? Or it hit a peak of 1.5 bar at Dastek when it wasn't meant to? For info, since we're talking 'bout runs in 3rd and 4th gears, i've got 2 graphs from April 2002 when my car ran (on the same rollers) in 3rd and 4th gear, no change in spec, map, whatever, and were back to back. Here's what the graph showed: 4th gear: Norm Power (corrected): 314bhp Engine output: 308bhp Wheel output: 232.5bhp (what the rollers read) Drag output: 75.5bhp Torque: 309Ib ft Air temp: 24 deg C 3rd gear: Norm Power (corrected): 314bhp Engine output: 297.5bhp Wheel output: 236.5bhp(what the rollers read) Drag output: 61.0bhp Torque: 294Ib ft Air temp: 29 deg C They may have the same corrected flywheel figure, but that is because the air temps are different and so the correction factor will take this into account. You can see in the figures though that my torque was down slightly when ran in 3rd compared to 4th and the "at wheels" figures are different between gears as well. -

You might even get a little more if the weather turns colder.. -

403.................370 Well... if your down on boost between runs, that'll account for the difference. -

What bhp/torque did you get Gumball? -

<< cars up to 506(.5!) bhp ran. >> Cool. What car was that then? -
<< Garrett GT42 hybrid @ 2.3 bar >> Scary to think that's a turbo rated around the 850 / 950 mark!

Anybody know anyone that might be starting to modify their Scoob and might be looking for a back box?

The only criteria for tyres would be that they are E marked and are rated to.. "at least"... the same rating as per manufacturer recommendations. Other insurance issues in respect of a claim (particularly if a third party is involved) is that they *could* use a clause to withhold payout if the tyres weren't the correct size recommended by the vehicle/wheel manufacturer. On brake pads, i wouldn't imagine there would be an issue, since aftermarket "standard parts" are acceptable, again, providing they comply to British standards of manufacture.

Andy. Stop being so modest what you're capable of! Tell us what it can really do! << 10.5 sec @ 136mph 1/4mile In a fully trimmed, full weight Sti on Apexi PFC >>

It's for a classic Peter.

Could be the battery back-up in the alarm system which is draining the car battery. What is happening is the battery in the alarm, cause it isn't holding a charge, constantly tries to charge itself up on the main battery. Only cure is a new battery for the alarm back-up. Not sure if it's DIY or not but wouldn't think so, being a Cat 1 alarm. Worth suggesting to your dealer.

Anyone interested in buying my Prodrive (stamped to prove) back box? Will fit 2.5" exhaust system. Prefer pick-up if possible.

You would only go down that route if you were looking for serious amounts of horsepower i.e. 450+ (IMO). I don't know what stage of tune you're at just now but if you have std engine internals etc, then the "bother, cost" factor doesn't justify it, there's no need as their are plenty turbos out there to give you up to and over 400bhp in the std turbo position.

Turning it 45 degrees, you're aiming to remove any inlet restriction, not exhaust.

Go round the back of your local shopping centre or supermarket and there will be plenty variety of boxes avaialable for nowt in their big containers. Never had a problem taking them cause they're only going to an incinerator or recycle place or whatever

Soaring temp gauge! Or could it be a GEMS problem?
AlanG replied to jacqui_robb's topic in Scottish Scoobies
78 is only the *opening* temperature of the thermostat, not running temperature. Zero sports 'stat opens earlier at 71 degrees. I wouldn't have said the 96 degrees was excessive. It all depends on when you are seeing 96 degrees.. -
If you're going to bleed the brakes again, bleed the furthest away caliper first, then work your way towards the master cylinder.

<< Hopefully i remember that now. >> I'm lost on that one..whats the frown for? At 1.4 bar i got 352Ib ft at Star rolling road on Optimax only which i thought was pretty damn good. Running methanol or NF etc can give you more. Gauges? I now use a water temp, fuel pressure and oil pressure gauge. There is also an AFR meter in the dash and a removable EGT gauge (thats only used whilst mapping). I'd have the oil pressure and fuel pressure as necessary gauges. Quite a while at 400, probably 6 / 9 months or so? (can't remember it was some time ago!!)

I suspect the back up battery in the siren for the alarm is what has drained the battery...

You seem to have it all sorted really as far as mods are concerned. What are your power goals though? Re: spec: The AVC-R is a good piece of kit, but don't think you would really need it since your running Motec, unless you want gear based boost control. Anyone know if Motec can be mapped for individual gears? You didn't mention plugs. if not in there already, fit a set of 7's instead of the standard 6's.
