  1. If it's going to be a track car I'd stick with the JDM 2.0, it loves a big turbo and being reved out to 8KRPM.
  2. Not sure what you're really asking tbh, but... There is no difference in the end result when mapping the OEM ECU with ECUTek or any of the opensource programs. It's down to the mapper at the end of the day. ECUTek is more expensive as you need to pay the license plus the mappers time first time around. I use ECUEdit which isn't free but is damn near as good as the ECUTek product for mapping/logging/analysis etc. Edit - Your car is likely to be ECUTek mapped actually.
  3. What are your mods etc. A 3 port and remap on the Spec C ECU is fine and can do everything the AVCR can do and more. You can also opt for the ECUTek MegaROM option and get 10 WGDC tables, dual timing and fuel maps. Go to TSL for the Perrin 3 Port.
  4. Jim, did your car run without a MAF? What ECU was that using, OEM?
  5. ^ I did something similar to my brothers 172 Cup a few years back, when he washed the dirt away it was etched into the paint, oops. Thank god for scratch-x.
  6. You're not going to get much more from the TD04 turbo, so I have NO idea why they recomended the boost controller other than to fleece you. Assuming you have a full decat, your next move is to buy a VF34/35 turbo, 255 lhr fuel pump, 550cc injectors(from STi), STi intercooler and a further remap. Should see you around 330-340 bhp.
  7. I'm certain that the 2.5's have unequal length headers, only the Twin Scroll JDM's have equal length.
  8. If you can get all that in writing, then surely you'll get a full refund on the payments already made, along with a new car? That is scandalous, post this on as many Subaru forums as you can!
  9. You want to remap an already remapped stock car? I don't understand why you'd want to do that?
  10. Don't get an ECUTek map, OpenSource(ECUFlash) is the mapping of choice in the EVO community.
  11. Correct, if the induction is changed then 9/10 it needs rescaled.
  12. NPS is the Nuetral Position Sensor, it basically tells the ECU when your in gear, if it is faulty the AVCS won't engage and you'll be way down on torque. Failing that you may have an issue with your boost.
  13. If your boost is 1.5 bar plus, then torque should be higher, at least 350. You might have a problem with your NPS, it can cause problems with your AVCS activating.
  14. It'll either be the 420(CAT) or 546(EGT), you can do it five mins, catch me on MSN.
  15. Detuned to save the gear box, doesn't the Bug STi have a 6 speeder?
  16. Just had the inverted BC's(6/5) fitted today, if I didn't tell you I had coilovers fitted you'd never know. I've set them to setting 2 out of 30 and it's equal to if not a little softer than stock Spec C suspension, I'll play about with them after the geom is done. The stock ride height was 67cm from the arch to the ground, I had it lowered 10mm all round, looks really good. Best of all, no knock knock knock!
  17. Hi, no real point unless your planning on other mods and mapping for it.
  18. I'm going to fit these to my Spec C hopefully next week. Is your Spec C a bugeye?
  19. If you're going to spend £50 on a reader, try to get a 1.3 Tactrix cable, it'll do a lot more than read codes.
  20. You should have had a look at my car for inspiration. The Spec C is 120KG lighter than the STi, it's had all the sound deadening removed, the boot is bare metal. It has a lighter bonnet, boot and A/C unit, as well as ligher glass etc. I'd say 60KG from the UK STi is easily do-able.
  21. A 12.9 is a good time, there's nothing wrong with this car imho, shouldn't the dyno run be done in 4th on a newage 6 speeder?
