  1. I would have said a single sized one as per the pics on the thread would be a better option than replacing the main scoob badge as it would save a lot of hassle and probably make it cheaper for you having to deal with. I certainly like the look of the one in the pics anyway []
  2. Personally as and when I decat mine I'll fit a 3" system the whole way. I'd imagine what you plan above would work, not sure if having the pipework reduce in size would increase the back pressure that much or not? Guess one of the more technical guys would maybe know more about that.
  3. Yup, our 2nd car is a Leon Cupra TDi and it's pretty damn good for a TDi. Has bucket loads of torque and is pretty nippy and handles well too. RR'd at 166bhp when it was virtually new and chipping them can apparently get you over 200bhp with a healthy boost of torque too (although the wife tells me I'm still not allowed to touch her car ) Not quite as quick as the STi but considering you'll get 550-600+miles out of a tankful it's what I'd use for long journeys.
  4. Cheers for that... was just getting fed up with the fact that the only time the MTB moves at the moment is to shift it out the way to get the lawn mower in/out of the garage
  5. I had been thinking more about the roof mounted option as I wasn't sure you could fit one on the back without fookin' the big spoiler and the new STi apparently can't have a towbar fitted (I suppose you could but it'd mean ripping that undertray/diffuser thing off). Got to say that I doubt it'd make much of a difference to the mpg, mainly 'cos with a bike on the roof I'd not be as likely to have the foot buried as much Also I'm a lazy bugger and couldn't be bothered having to whip the wheels off the bike and jam stuff inbetween the front disc brakes, etc every time I put it on the back. Had a quick look on the subaru site but couldn't see a price for the proper subaru bars (was just to compare with the likes of the Mont Blanc and Paddy Hopkirk versions).
  6. Not sure if there are any other MTB'ers out there with an STi? Just wondered if there were any recommendations for racks for an MTB or two. Was thinking that a roof rack type might be the better option than hanging anything from the back. Anyone got one?
  7. Any chance of having the model/year of the scoobs listed alongside their name/figures to give us an idea of what they should have started with as well?
  8. Sounded like an excellent time right enough. Dunno if I'd strip out too much of the banter, makes the write up better IMO, then again we all understand what you are saying. Might be better for someone from Englandshire to read it and see if they understand it first []
  9. Also meant to ask if it's possible to do the sunstrips you organised before but have them so they are done on the inside of the car rather than the outside, would avoid any windscreen wiper issues some people had. It was an internal one I had on a 309GTi years and years ago, bit of a pig to fit but worth it in the end.
  10. Is all of the money paid for them going to the SC? or is it anything over and above cost price?
  11. True, if I was buying a car (even if I had to then sell my own one) I'd have cash ready for it. You can't expect someone else to wait around until you get your own car sold. Obviously I dunno what you were hoping to sell your car for but I'd give them until Friday this week and unless you have a grand or two in your bank by then they have lost the option on the car and you sell to someone else. That way they've had the best part of 3 weeks to come up the with the cash, if they can't manage that then they aren't likely to in future either IMO. It's possible though that the guy has had other issues but if that were the case you would imagine that they would say sorry but I can't anymore as soon as they know it's not likely to go ahead and not string you along for so long.
  12. Just checked online and it's repeated at 10am on Saturday. Will need to mind and set the Sky+ box for that and the rest of the series on Monday nights.
  13. Was out in the garden most of last night so never realised it was on [] Is it repeated at all or is there a download for it (always seems to be for everything these days []
  14. True, the interior of my original 94UK turbo was shocking (was bought by someone the month that they went on sale in the UK). Had awful looking "tweed" seats. The large turbo (TD05) that was in it was fun IMO, on boost it gave you so much of a shove in the back compared to the TD04's of the later classics, although across back roads there'd be nothing in it. Definitely prefer the new one to that original though (and not just 'cos the seats are nicer [] )
  15. I had a 94 UK Turbo Wagon and loved it, modded it to give STi levels of power but as good as it was I prefer the 06 STi I have now. In terms of classics I love the 2drs the best but still rate the wagons as good looking cars, seen one at the daughters childcare place which looked the same as my old one (red wagon) and it's still a good looking car. It's harder for me to do a direct back to back comparison though as I got shot of the wagon and had other cars in between before going back to a scoob a couple of years later.
  16. Not looking forward to the road tax when it's due in November for the new STi right enough, just lucky that the Leon Cupra TDi we have only costs £110 for the year so it works out similar to having two "normal" cars anyway [] Renewal for the Leon came in this morning too []
  17. Hmmm... think it speaks a lot about the hatch looks when they chose the saloon to display at the launch party. In some lights the saloon doesn't look just as bad as the original pics looked... still not a great fan but I think I may have to reserve final judgemnt until I see one in the flesh.
  18. I have one of the original Sky+ boxes (got it as a refurb a year or two ago) and it's pretty much been faultless since we've had it. The + function is superb... we'd not be without it (or something similar) now. You only pay the £10/month extra for it if you don't have the movies or sports, as long as you have either of the above it's no dearer... wish the same was true for the HD box and channels.
  19. Looks a lot better. I have a Crystal Grey 06 STi myself and had been wondering about swapping the wheels (well keep the gold ones for winter tyres). Think you've helped me make up my mind []
  20. You might want to fit an induction kit or an aftermarket panel filter but I wouldn't run for long without any air filter at all. It will work for a short time... and potentially never again afterwards.
  21. When and where is this months meet then? You can show us your new Spec D []
  22. Yeah I get a bit of judder/wheel spin coming out of my drive in the morning with an 06STI (DCCD in auto all the time). Only ever happens on very tight lock though.
  23. Might see you about then seeing as I stay just outside 'meldrum myself (Crystal Grey 56plate STi).
