  1. That make much of a difference to the noise it's making? Or any difference to the way it drives?
  2. I've already been looking at the Ecutek website... really shouldn't By the sounds of it, the exhaust on the diesel makes little or no difference sound wise though DPF delete sounds like it should be a good thing (once it's out of warranty in my case ). Remap seems to be worth it from what I've seen on various forums, although I'm still a bit wary of doing that when I've got the warranty/free servicing for the next few years. Mind you... I said that with the hawkeye and Andy Forrest remapped that before the warranty ran out Would be good to get a bit more "shove" out the diesel though. Can't believe that they are still only 150bhp (ish) even now.
  3. Quick pic taken with the phone a few days after getting it (in Jan... the grounds a lot whiter now )
  4. I did the same myself recently, seen the 5yr warranty, 3yr free servicing and 2yrs interest free (50:50 deal) and figured it was as good a time as any to get back into a scoob... even if it was a diesel one and not an Impreza. Been fairly impressed with it so far as it's being run in... handles well enough as std (then again, the one traded in was a D3 ) and it almost feels like sitting in the hawkeye STi again with the leather wheel, etc (shame it doesn't have the same go as the STi ) The 45-50mpg we're getting so far is a bit of a revelation in a scoob too.
  5. I've an APS 70mm CAI on mine, but it was remapped the very next day... you wouldn't have lived with the car without it being remapped anyway as the idle was lumpy as f*** as the ECU tried to match the air and fuel properly. Would have thought that the smaller version of the APS CAI might have been okay without the remap as housing was the same size as OEM, so it should have been able to measure the air flow properly (accurately). Worth getting the remap anyway though as it makes a HUGE difference to the way the car drives. It's not just about the peak figure being a touch higher, it's the fact that the power is available further down the rev range, etc.
  6. Yeah, I hit a pothole with the 19s and although it wasn't as severe as yours, it started a slow puncture. Was stopping in less than a mile anyway. When I had the tyre changed I checked out the rip in the tyre and it was a fairly long cut, so looked like the rim of the wheel had chopped thru' the sidewall as it had hit the pothole. Would have been bad enough if the tyre had been old, but it was about 3 months old at most... worse still in the period between buying the original set, the price per tyre had gone up about £15-20
  7. I've still got the std suspension on mine, but went from 17's to 19's (was originally going to go for 18's but got a good deal on the 19s ) In terms of tramlining, the car was MILES worse on the 225/45/17 RE070s than it was on either the Toyo of Eagle F1s I've on now (235/35/19). I'd say if anything the bigger wheels felt more comfortable than the smaller ones... although potholes become things to avoid at all costs even more as the lower sidewalls mean it's miles easier to get a puncture if you crash thru' one.
  8. Not sure if I'm gonna be about here then, if I am, I'll do my best to be there. Will let you know nearer the time (not that it helps give you definite numbers right now).
  9. Have they got a demonstrator for people to try? Would imagine they would have a long queue for a shot if they have Always good to hear of decent places to take the car to though.
  10. Think there are a few people on here who can do these kinds of things... not sure if ScoUK can do that kind of thing?
  11. Would be interested to see what kind of prices he's able to do on the DS2500 or the PF Z's. Not quite needing mine done yet, but depending on prices I might go for them now so I have them for when they do need changed
  12. Sounded nice when we seen it on Saturday (roundabout near train station)... we were running "undercover" in the Leon though and weren't close enough to wave.
  13. <waves again> Only took once or twice and you started waving back Hopefully manage to meet up with you one time when we both stop You might also want to check out http://aberdeenscoobies.invisionzone.com/index.php and join up there too.
  14. Welcome... You don't happen to wave at a grey/silver hawkeye on your commute do you? If so... it's me Iain.
  15. Might have got a better pic if I had Was getting dark at the time and CBA going and getting the proper camera.
  16. The revolution one I have sits within the bumper as well though, doesn't sit at the outer edge at all. Crappy phone pic I'm afraid, but hopefully shows WTF I'm talking about.
  17. Bought mine from Revolution and IMO I reckon it matches the normal upper grill pretty well.
  18. 78? Knew that there were quite a few but didn't realise there were as many as that. Doesn't just dilute the revenue, could dilute the amount of info that there is on the main "original" boards.
  19. I always come here via www.scottishscoobies.com personally. Was trying to think of a way you could have a notice on your home page linking to here as a "did you mean" type link, but without it making yours look "odd" IYKWIM. Personally I just think the names are too close not for it to cause some kind of confusion to people who aren't already in the know. Also think that there are already a lot of clubs around for scoobies without having yet another one (but maybe that's just me), seems to be every now and then someone sets up another one. Although there isn't a forum setup, I believe that http://www.morayscoobies.co.uk/ is already in place for Moray, there is an Aberdeenscoobies forum, 22b.com, P1woc, RB owners clubs, WR1, SN, etc, etc... and in general the same people are on them all. Would have thought that a local region one, SIDC and SN was probably as many as were really needed... again just my opinion.
  20. Yeah, if anything, one of the cars that I did manage to pass tried to pull over on me as I was passing him, almost as if he was trying to stop me passing. They are good roads though as and when they are empty though, just a shame that the limits are so low on them as some of them are in such good condition, with limited numbers of junctions or cars/animals about IYKWIM... seemed such a shame to be sat at the limit so long
  21. I know the feeling about too much month left We took the A96 to Huntly, then across to Dufftown, down to Aviemore and Kingussie/Newtonmore over to Spean Bridge, Fort William and down to Oban. The roads going down early Saturday morning were great, not much on the road so was able to make good progress, way back was fine until we got onto the narrower roads and a queue of half a dozen cars who all insisted on sitting right in the middle of the road, even when I was sitting right over to the left indicator going... wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for the 40-50mph limit they seemed to have. A few short sections with white lines showing them where the middle of the road actually was, was enough for me to get by though 400-odd miles though over the weekend. Have done the roads down to lochgilphead and campbeltown about 13yrs ago in an old Pug GTi which was quite good fun though Not been down that way much since though.
  22. Definitely... took mine down to Oban for the weekend just past... some of the roads there and back were pretty good (although getting better than 95RON down there is a bit of a challenge).
  23. Yup, me too... lost count of the small scratches/dings on the car now... gave up worrying about them. If I'd have put it in to get seen to everytime one happened it would have never been out of a garage getting resprayed, etc. I tend to find keeping it dirty helps hide them anyway
  24. Yeah, was gonna say the same
  25. Certainly looked MUCH more powerful the way it was up and over the hill from the hairpin in no time at all.
