  1. Does the pope sh** in the woods? Of course we wanna see it. So how exactly is it setup on your car then, when you flick the switch it goes into "Driving Miss Daisy" silent mode na dflick it again and it's "Mad Max"? or does it just limit the amount of popping and banging a bit? Oh, and another question... did you need additional hardware to run the anti lag or is it just a software thing within the std ECU?
  2. As cool as that sounds I'd bet "full on" would probably start to p*ss you off in time. I know that the full decat I had on the wagon was superbly loud (think wagons are louder on the inside due to that big empty space behind ) but on a longer journey it was a bit droning and got quite annoying. I want the STi now to be a bit louder than it is 'cos it just doesn't sound right as std IMO, but I'd not want something as loud as my wagon was before, despite how much fun it was when you were in the mood. As and when (or if) I remap mine I'd go for mild pops and bangs at the most (not saying I then wouldn't get addicted and go back to make them full on though ).
  3. Good figures... would be nice to hear how much better mpg you get out of the modded car compared with the std setup.
  4. Odd sounding nuts, sound more like locking wheel nut types than the std ones.
  5. Sounds like the ECU setup is a lot better on the new models... wonder if it's backwards compatible with the other 2.5l boxers?
  6. Surely the nuts/studs are cheaper to replace than a wheel though? Meant to add, had they tried one of those impact wrenches as well... you know the kind it builds up speed similar to a drill and then "drops the clutch" to apply a heap of force to the nut(s).
  7. Me and JohnS had a similar issue with one of my wheels quite a few years back. Although the issue with mine was more getting the centre cap off which was covering the wheels. It had an allen key to hold it on and once that was removed we realised that the centre cap seemed to be spot welded to the alloy wheel. After bending a couple of screwdrivers I eventually managed to get it off (actually it flew straight across the road with the force I was putting on it ). Thought it would be easy after that but the wheel nuts were now covered in WD40 so made taking them off quite difficult. Once we got them all off we found the wheel was fairly bonded to the brake disk/hub (you can tell I'm technical ). Made me glad my drive was on a hill ('cos that's why JohnS had suggested we do it at his house - was buying his old wheels) Sounds like yours is a lot worse than mine though. I'd have thought there would be an easier way of getting it off without knackering the wheel though.
  8. http://bbs.scoobynet.com/projects-40/59552...html?showfull=1 is the one I'm thinking of anyway.
  9. IIRC it was up for sale on SN a while back (or one very similar to it anyway). Was looking like a Focus WRC car IIRC.
  10. SE? I've had the Black Leon Cupra TDi from April 04 anyway.
  11. Actually, it might almost be getting to the point where it'd be worth getting the car mapped to run on 95 RON rather than needing 97/98RON. I do sometimes put some 95 in if I'm stuck somewhere and can't get Ultimate/V Power.
  12. Are the Meercat ones just full decat exhausts or do they do sports cat ones too? Oh and out of interest how much are they for the 3" systems?
  13. Yeah I tend to use the Shell garage by the airport (close to work) and it's normally just over the quid. Missed out on the last V Power day due to heading in the opposite direction that day and hoping Keith was going to have it as well... ended up paying full price there but at least it wasn't as pricey as it sounds in Elgin.
  14. Already got one (well it's the wifes really). As nippy as a 170bhp TDi is, it isn't a replacement for an STi, even if it does ~50-55mpg with our normal driving.
  15. Holy crap... gonna have to make sure I'm filled up before I head up that way from now on then.
  16. Ultimas come in all sizes... bear in mind they are kit cars really so someone could quite easily build one with a 900cc Micra engine in the back... they'd be clinically insane but it's possible (I'd imagine)... so in theory I'd imagine most are between 300 and 700-odd bhp+. No way of telling other than asking the guy in the car whats under the bonnet (unless you happen to be that special kind of car bore that can tell a 350bhp V8 from a 720bhp one )
  17. Glad to hear you got to the bottom of it. Might cost you cash to get it sorted bt hopefully you will now have confidence in the car again when you get it back (faster and more powerful too )
  18. At the same time though, his isn't std, so someone looking for that kind of car would be more likely to buy his with that power already than a car a few months younger with less miles, esp when a 56/06 will be into the higher road tax bracket.
  19. According to the Ultima webpage they reckon that in a race they'd be lapping the Enzo every 12 laps
  20. Seriously impressive. Where do we sign for the petition to get the TG team to run their own version of it so it can officially top the chart
  21. I hate the fact that whenever I'm looking for a new motor there are never any models around that I fancy, or there are so few that I end up pay top money for something. Then when I have something and am not thinking of changing there are heaps of decent motors around like yours. I'd say that it will be worth less than you think, and agree that the best option (to make the most for yourself) would be to remove a lot of the mods from your car and sell them seperately as you will make more money from it that way. A lot of people don't want to buy a modded car which can narrow down your potential market (despite the fact that they'll then spend more again to put it back to the way you have it now no doubt ) Hope you manage to get a decent amount for it all though. Iain
  22. Think Ken's busy rebuilding his wee kit car at the moment to be spending much time online. As mentioned he was at the last Abz meet.
  23. Ahhh, got you, thought it was Thursday night as it was the last meet someone could make BEFORE the weekend ones... ah well... saves me having to rush back too early then (esp as I was telling the wife I may have to nip back to Abz for a few beers with someone leaving work too )
  24. <gulp> makes the 101.9p/litre in Dyce look good... and that's BEFORE they drop it to the 94.9p/l it is for std unleaded... mind me to stop in Keith on the way up the morn' then Not sure if I'm gonna make it back to Elgin in time on Thursday now either... coming back from Oban and should have the scoob but the wife is wanting to take the kids to stuff on the Thursday down in Oban so it might be tighter than the Elgin Shell owners *** to be back in time to catch up with you... will see though 'cos the roads aren't too bad normally
