Only problem would be, I don't know anyone who would be able to hold back for long, esp with such a clear road in front.
-
Yup, still cheaper than the £1.10 or so that it is for BP Ultimate in Inverurie.
-
Looks nice... mentioned to Laura in the office and she said that she's sat in it and never noticed the wheel was like that either
-
I *think* there are a couple of gallons left in the tank when the light comes on, but I've never been brave (daft) enough to run it dry to see just how much is left in it
-
True... occasionally I think I'll drive like a granny and see just how much I can get out of a tank... never managed a full tank driving like that yet I've a real problem in that the road I pull out onto first thing in the morning generally has cars coming from both directions at 60mph+ (downhill from both directions) so you tend to need to pull out sharply to get into the queue... or sit there for *ages*. Doesn't do a great deal for the mpg if you have your foot to the floor for a bit
-
With the smaller tank in the 94 Turbo I used to get ~180-220 miles the whole time... most ever got was about 249 or thereabouts. With the 06 STi I generally fill up again about 250, that's with the light on and it looking quite low on the dash, not quite sure how much is left in the tank at that point though. Have no idea how anyone is getting 300+ out of one, I guess if I was on a motorway and sat at 50-60mph then maybe it's possible but no way on the roads I drive (and with the way I drive )
-
Bear in mind that now you have 4wd you need more bhp to make up for the losses in transmission. WRX is only 220bhp roughly without mods, which might work out roughly the same bhp/ton as the 182? My 94 had ~290bhp from a full decat, induction kit and raising the boost, would imagine you'd get roughly the same with a remap instead of the dawes device, in fact you should get a better driving car out of it doing it "properly" with a remap.
-
True... must have been mad due to having a few drinks watching the match the night... fiver then
-
I'll gie ye a tenner for all the mods then and at least you are a tenner better off
-
Would imagine that if you aren't planning on flogging the STi privately and trading it in, that you'd be as well flogging off some of the mods and trading in "std" IYKWIM, as most places won't give you anything extra for the mods.
-
Never haed a blob eye so couldn't say with them, but I made some pretty good gains on the old classic I had by putting on a full decat and running a Dawes device to raise the boost (similar to a remap but far more crude approach to it). Would imagine that you'd make some pretty good gains by doing a remap with full decat on the blob eye. What car have you come from then that performed better? (honest q not trying to start some flame war )

Hmmm... so doubling the power (give or take) means you drop a few mpg (I reckon my already heavy lead boot would get even heavier) then it doesn't seem that much worse... hell my old 94 wagon used to get 180-200 miles out of a tankful and it was only at std STi power levels PS - We wuz robbed the night... (football content... something I'm not normally associated with)

What I meant was 6 people with different winter tyres on their car get together and try them all out in each others cars (or one car and swap the wheels over if you want to keep everything fair so that suspension, etc doesn't play a part in the outcome). Could do a test run over a few things, standing water, dry road, greasy road, snow, ice, etc. Would probably need to be done over quite a while to get all of the conditions though.
-
Actually maybe that's something that can be sorted out within the SIDC... a winter tyre test for scoobs. Maybe get a list of the usual winter options (Michelon, Bridgestone, Nokians, etc), possibly just thru' members who have them fitted to their cars, and then get a number of others to try them out and try and find a winner out of them. A possibility?

Yeah, had a few things like that (just not to the point of throwing things). Had a guy shaking his fist at me for daring to overtake him (safely, plenty of room to move into), overtook the van he'd been sitting behind at 50mph for ages on the next straight, it turned off and the guy sped up thru' a 30mph to be back on my bumper at a junction and he was tooting his horn and waving his fist again. Just remembered the "best" one. Was in Inverurie heading into town and was at that junction near the curry house and the traffic lights. Anyway this car was sitting back from the junction a bit with the indicator on and looked parked, I checked the road and although there was a car coming there was more than enough room to pull out so I did, passed the "parked" car and pulled out. Next thing I know the "parked" car sounds the horn and comes racing out behind me (causing the other car to brake now and toot at him too) and he's racing right up behind me and swerving back and fore trying to pass me and all but climbing into my boot he was so enraged. I guess he was sitting waiting to pull out, although he'd been completely stationary for *ages* as I approached and the road was perfectly clear to pull out. I think he liked it even less when I started laughing at him, esp when we got onto the dual carrigeway
-
I don't think it's restricted to scoobs though, think it's more in general that there seems to be worse driving standards on the road. Heard about someone rammed off the road by a white transit while they were on their recumbent bike. Apparently the van pulled alongside and then slammed into the side of it and never stopped. Broke the guys shoulder or something I think. He was passed by a number of cars shortly afterwards and no-one stopped to help either, despite him trying to wave them down.
-
Was partly based on his recommendation that we got them. Think I'm just too used to the likes of bridgestones with the stiffer walls so the extra flex in the walls, plus the extra flex in the tread of the winter tyres just made me feel unsafe... honestly thought the first few miles that I was gonna end up in a ditch or field John said that Jools had used and liked Nokians in the past so I was going to use them this winter (until I got a good deal on bigger alloys and tyres ). Wish you could test the tyres out before buying them though, get a feel for whether you like them or not before spending £100+ a corner.
-
We fitted them to the Leon my wife drives last winter. Not a fan of them at all. The wife likes them well enough but for me it felt like there was no grip and I just had no confidence in them at all (was the PA2's we fitted). When I was looking at winter tyres for the scoob this year I was originall going to get a set of Nokian WR G2's (mytyres had them for £80-90 IIRC), think it would have been up to about £400 all in fitted, etc.
-
Was pretty good right enough.
-
He will be... it's at least 2 against 1 ('cos no-one else cares I've found )
-
I'm a bit more "protective" of my "extra i" after nearly losing one of the ones in my head (accident involving a fish hook and my right eye when I was about 9yo... Dr thought I was going to lose it completely... ended up with barely a scratch... I was quite disappointed 'cos there wasn't a scar to show anyone )
-
Yeah, but drive to Keith or Forres and get it there cheaper instead.
-
It's not annoying at all when people spell it ian is it...
-
They surely can't be selling much at that price

That was what I'd understood happened as well, Eibach make them to a particular spec for Prodrive that isn't available "off the shelf" directly from Eibach. Again, like yourself I may believe the wrong thing though
