Yeah, I had that same hassle earlier on this year. Thought that by passing me directly to the other insurers that it'd be a quick check of details not giving them all the details time and time again. Right PITA and at the end of it all I don't think any of them were any better than my renewal with Bell Direct.
-
Aye, so I heard... first time I passed it I wondered when (and why) you'd bought a red Rover 600 Iain.
-
Good to hear you're still around Jools... not so good about your son but glad to hear he's on the mend now though. Still pass your old house every few days on the way into work
-
I lasted about the same in the 4.2V8 Avant that I had... was just too nose heavy for my liking on back roads and I just never got on with the semi-auto box on it either, traded it for the 06 STi I have now and haven't looked back.
-
Very sad all round. It is something I look at now when choosing a car, drove the sister-in-laws 106 diesel a few years back and would hate to be in an impact in something like that as I'd imagine there'd not be much left of you afterwards.

Could have been worse... I had a close shave years ago with the Discovery V8i... had been bombing into work as normal without a problem. Got into it around lunchtime to head to the other office and pulled out the car park, put my foot on the brake and nothing... turned out I'd burst one of the calipers Was so lucky it happened at 10mph or less rather than the 60-ish I'd been doing on the way in. Also lucky it was at such a slow speed 'cos the disco has a transmission brake and I'd probably have fooked the drivetrain or just spun out of control trying to use it to slow down. Glad to hear you got away with it as well... would hate to be going at speed and then find out I had no way of stopping

Was that the one with the young guy in a recently purchased Puma or something similar? Turned out I knew people from both vehicles, was someone at work that was best friends with the parents of the boy and the wifes boss was driving the other car. Seen the "devastation" on both sides... shows that it doesn't really matter who's fault it was both sets of families (and friends of the family) were quite affected by it all.
-
Woohoo... good to hear that you got a good outcome out of it. Yours was on the rollers just as I was leaving (only just made it timewise for the party). Was relieved to hear your "problems" weren't down to your self mapping.
-
Think my peak torque (from memory) is about 4k... seem to remember yours being a lot lower than that.
-
Woohoo... 4th most powerful car on the rollers and it's std My torque was fairly equal with the bhp, ~300-ish as well. Was getting that a lot higher than Aarons though, shows the benefit of the remapping getting it moved further down the rev range.
-
Cool... sounds good to me... certainly sounds a hell of a lot cheaper than a Milltek dp or centre Sports cat.
-
I might sound like I know WTF I'm talking about but I'm not that different to you Just have a quick check of all airlines to/from the boost gauge to see if there are any splits/leaks in the system.
-
You don't have an air leak in the pipework do you? Would imagine that an airleak could leave the system sitting at zero pressure regardless of the actual boost at any time. Would be worth checking all of your connections to/from the gauge.
-
Would imagine that they are all the same, but do the likes of Milltek, etc have different connections to "std" 3" systems?
-
F**k... sucks to be you by the sounds of it... if you didn't have bad luck you'd have none at all. Generally (IME) you should get negative boost at idle and +ive once above a certain rev range, as some people have said, could be an electrical issue if it's not moving at all.
-
F**k... not good news. When the wifes Leon was hit and run a while back we used a place outside Inverurie... can't mind the name offhand... Lethany body shop or something... small out of town place and it cost ~£300 to sort a rear 3/4 panel that looked like it needed replaced... bloke sorted it and you'd honestly never know it'd have been damaged in the first place... was a non-std colour to sort as well.
-
What about 3" sportscat centres? (or D/P's for an 06Sti)?
-
Got to agree with you there, although the new one looks better with the different wheels/suspension I still massively prefer the hawkeye.

Shell at the airport in Aberdeen had nothing either when I went thru' it earlier today. Ended up going to BP and filling up (well, £50 not filling up) with their ultimate instead. Saves a trip to Ellon I guess and is better than putting in 95RON stuff as well.
-
Can you check and let us know if there is any.
-
Oh joy... wonder how long the £22 of 95RON will last me then... don't want to end up having to put more of it in. Really just is what everyone needs a couple of weeks before the rolling road day out... can see a lot of people with lower figures if they are having to run on 95ron (even with Octane booster), or worse... people cancelling 'cos they can't get the right fuel and don't want to travel so far on the cr*p stuff.
-
I'm guessing with the drivers strike they have concentrated on getting diesel and normal petrol into the stations at the expense of the VPower fuels, hence it eventually running out in some places before it's been re-filled. Only explanation I can think of for the lack of it everywhere.
-
Not this morning... Shell nr the airport in Dyce is out of V Power completely... they are waiting on it coming in. Apparently they just got their supply of V Power Diesel in today (WTF uses that compared to all the petrol heads using/needing VPower petrol?). Had to put in some 95 'cos I was on fumes... guess thats a bit of off boost running about for me then.
-
I know JohnS was heavily involved with it last year, couple of us gave a hand being marshalls at it as well (although not as many as we'd have liked). Not sure who's been involved in organising it this year?
-
Hmmm... need to fill up soon myself, hope the Shell in Dyce is okay for supplies.
