  1. Have you had a look under the car yet fella? That 'cat pipe' i was on about should be straight through pipe, so yes rid the car of the centre section resonator and it will be a teeny bit louder. I have this one in the link from Scoobyworld. Clicky But tbh the Prodrive box still mutes it compared to say fitting a 5" tail pipe or a blitz nur etc. Have a watch of this link, . Its of my car at zen taken by another member on here. I'm running a standard unequeal header, standard downpipe and cat, second cat delete, centre as mentioned above and a Prodrive BB. Mine is NOT a Prodrive car, but with that little lot makes around the came power and i reckon about enough noise too
  2. Whoa! Hold up here, some of this info looks a bit scewed to me. Lets clear some of this up regarding the exhaust system. Ajay. Your car is a Prodrive tweaked STi type-UK yes? So, it does NOT have 3 cats! It may well only have 1. The main 1 in the downpipe is left in by Prodrive. They are known to leave the second cat in there too, but not always, depends who did the mods. Get under the car and look to where the exhaust comes down from the engine and makes the first join to the 'cat-pipe'. That will probably have a heat shield on it that at a glance looks like the cat is there. Look closer, the pipe running through that heat shield is probably straight through! If not then you can replace it. Next section is the 'centre' there will be a resonator box on this towards the back box end. This is a small silencer (not another cat) that reduces in cabin noise. This too can be replaced. Then is your Prodrive back box, which is perfectly fine to leave in place and sounds great. The manifold on your car IS un-equal! Only sport non turbo models and some jap versions get equal length ones! So if its boxer burble you want your car is already capable. And lastly an STi NEVER has 3 cats! Only the WRX has a third in its up-pipe. There is nothing to gain buying a de-cat up-pipe for a STi that already has that as standard
  3. Welcome along. The guys have done a sterling job with your Q's Thats something this forum does best More power from a scooby is so much easier than most other cars. Thats true of most turbo cars though TBH. All a scoob requires is panel filter, fuel pump and replace the exhaust, inc cats. With a WRX an STi intercooler and injectors are useful too. Then remap it. Hey presto 230bhp becomes 280-290bhp Do the same on an STi and 276bhp becomes 330 You asked the difference between WRX and STi. Well put simply night and day. I also have similar experience to you in that i went from a '03 Civic type-R to a '53 blobeye WRX. 197bhp FF to a 225bhp 4wd was a a small step in terms of power, but a drop off a cliff in driveability! I owned another WRX after that and now i have a STi model which was as big a shock as joining subaru in the first place! I've also never had a single issue other than wear and tear items with any of my scoobs! Finally noise. No a standard STi isn't really any louder than a standard WRX. Infact my first WRX was treated to a Magnex BB and centre and sounded lovely. My current car has one cat removed, plus the centre replaced and a Prodrive BB and the guys at work reckon its quieter than my old car! Keep it standard and they really aren't that loud
  4. Welcome! Forester looks Don't see many in here in the UK, when i do they mostly seem to be in the lake district, which i guess is there natural hunting ground
  5. Lol, i get that one too! Kids love these cars. Teenagers tend to shout out too. One lad a few weeks back walked into a lamp post whilst looking over his shoulder as i burbled down the road I get occasional comments from adults, mostly about its thirst and/or the noise it makes
  6. Hi Ajay, Welcome to SIDC. You've chosen the best model of scoob not that i'm biased in any way... Your right the headlights on a scoob are a bit pants, though thats never really bothered me so i've left mine standard and can't really answer your Q. As for wiper blades though, i have retro fitted Sparco flat blades and have no complaints. Have a look HERE. Just a little tip, i polish my windscreen with Auto glym glass polish, then keep it clean with AG Fast glass. I find that in the rain i barely even need to use my wipers! Occasional flick and on i go As for manifold. Do you have a Prodrive version? If not then yours will be the same as mine, rather than change the manifold look at changing the exhaust from the downpipe back. If you keep the standard downpipe and de-restrict the rest you'll pass MOT's but free up around 20-30bhp! You won't need a remap doing just that either. If you go further and change the panel filter, fuel pump etc then you will need to get it mapped. Hope thats helpful.
  7. As one who very rarely turns up to meets (sorry) i can't say too much. But i did enjoy the run to Zen so a meet then short drive in burbling convoy appeals. I'm not fussed by having food, but a drink goes down well (even if it is just a lemonade )
  8. His and Hers matching supercars! Colours crap though
  9. Like many Newage scooby owners my STi has suffered from the awful squeak as i pull my seatbelt on. This must affect a lot of other owners too that may not know how to fix this problem. I haven't been able to find a how too on SIDC. So here is my step by step guide to those who havent yet done it Hope its useful. (This is the passanger side, drivers side is exactly the same) Tools required Though you probably won't need the screw driver, i removed the trim by hand. If your struggling a 6yr old is as good as the screw driver The 'B' pillar houses the seatbelt retentioner which is covered by the large dark plastic cover. Its this cover that needs removing. Front Rear First lift the kick plates off the sill. Remove the push clip from the rear of the 'B' pillar (this is where screw driver comes handy). The rubber seal can be pulled away gently to help remove the top part of the trim. Pull the whole lip around from the pillar, and the same with the front edge. And remove from the car. Once out the car you'll see on the inside the ribbed plastic. Its the top rib that rubs the seatbelt and causing the squeak! So, with your stanley blade, start to carefully cut the rib off. I found it easier to seperate the knife (mind your fingers!). I cut until the rib was totally gone and flush, checking that there was no burrs left that might catch the belt. Refit the trim in the reverse of how it came out, and give the belt a pull Takes no more than around 10-15 minutes and saves your ears the dreaded noise! Squeaky seatbelt... Done (I would have post this in the 'How too' section, but i can't start a new thread there )
  10. Welcome back fella. The Catalyna looks great!
  11. Thats pretty much what i used to do, full rinse with a pressure washer (or just a blinking good hose down), Auto Glym body wash, microfibre towel to dry, and Auto Glym Super resin. Then i brought the Auto Glym Extra gloss finish and applied that after doing the above. Made a real difference to the finish but there is more to be done so asked the exact same Q that you have... Have a look on this thread Clicky! Also, not to teach a granny to suck eggs, are you aware of the 2 bucket system as mentioned above? I wasn't for a long while but its using 1 bucket with your shampoo in and 1 with fresh clean water in. Each time you need to dunk the sponge/mitt go for the fresh water, where all the grit from the car will go in the 1 bucket. Then dunk the cleaned sponge/mitt into the soap and back to the car. Keeps the grit from being accidentally reapplied to the paint and reduces swirl marks
  12. If you wouldn't mind mate If thinking of getting Inovit Redlines for it. Can't get a pic for you though, sorry
  13. Cheers Stu. I quite like that But i'm thinking white alloys with blue strip might look better Thanks for doing the photoshop on it
  14. They look superb Stu! So a good shout on bringing these to attention then Hmmm i'm wondering if white would work on my gold alloys... Can anyone photoshop an image for me? Below is as fresh a pic from the side as i have. Thanks in advance!
  15. Nice one! As i happens we're not getting the Clio 200 now so my need for these isn't as great. Can't bring myself to put them on the scoob's gold wheels. Maybe if i get new wheels tho Need to convice the GF first... Not easy!
  16. Remember 'Big D's' is a lot lighter than your Blob eye mate. But you should crack a low 13's with that power Make sure you let us know your result, as unfortunately i won't be attending

  18. It looks like its well presented, however: Its not a Prodrive car. Exhaust is all wrong, thats a standard STi pipe no question and PPP cars get a Prodrive pipe as part of the pack! Meaning its running around 265bhp, not the claimed 305. They are not 18" wheels as stated either. Again, standard STi 17"'s! Lastly they class it as a Hatch Makes me question if they actually know what they are selling! Its of average milage (my '53 reg STi is on 37000 ) but the price is about spot on for a standard STi in good condition! Civic Type-R Vs STi? No question. I owned a CTR and up graded it to a WRX years ago. I do love the CTR's though but when it comes down to the drive in all honesty it simply can't match a scoob, especially a STi!
  19. I have a '03 STi mate and have run her up Santa pod a few times. My car doesn't have the DCCD though. For you first time its probably best to leave it in auto and let the car sort itself out! After a run or two i'd manually set it to put as much power to the rear as poss. If you lock the diff for 50:50 you will bog down something rotten and waste your time. For a good run you need to get the launch just right, very tricky in a scoob. My method is to hold rpm around a high 5500, then bring the clutch up quickly but smoothly! Side stepping the clutch is risky, you could damage something. Riding the clutch will of course also ruin the clutch and the smell will be disgusting Make sure your engine and gearbox is warmed through before a run too, but don't let it sit in the queue getting too hot either. I open my bonnet whilst ticking over and waiting to run. And lastly give the intercooler a good spray down last sec, it apparently helps lower the temp and help boost. No idea if thats actually true, but i use it anyway seeing as its there And good luck. Its quite a rush getting it right and seeing your opponent over your shoulder. My PB is 13.6sec with a 'standard non-ppp' STi running 290bhp Give you something to aim at even though you have more power
  20. Absolutely! Its got more than enough space in it for a baby, and baby paraphernalia. GF wasn't overly happy i've changed my mind, but i pointed out that actually her 3 door Clio was the least practical car not my scoob :P And so we'll keep her for a bit longer 'Space' also now being watched Lol I did consider writing "Slippery when wet" but didn't think that would go down well
  21. Finished off the tyre writing this afternoon Here she is ;)
  22. Cheers guys. Yes Stu decided to hold on to her for a bit longer End of the day she's the perfect family car as well as the antidote to fat and low supercars Gary, i really wish she was mint mate Don't get me wrong she's not bad, but not perfect either. In fact in a couple of weeks i'm popping out to see Joe (SIDC member too) and he's going to help me clay her and get the body looking blinding 'Bridgestone' is going to have to be done i feel, so its good to have that confirmed from other opinions Next on the list is, eventually at least; White alloys, Front splitter, and i'm toying with Cusco graphics
