  1. Few little editions to the scoob this week, all cosmetic First off, there has been a scuff on my front bumper for quite a while and so it was about time that i had it repaired! Got a local company to do the work at my Fiancée's workplace. Top job and i'm well pleased with the result Did lose my fog cover graphic though, so replacement was ordered and i attempted the tricky task of measuring and marking to get it back on in the right place! From the photo angle its easy to see it was the nearside but otherwise i think you'd be hard pushed to tell Next up was a few little logos down my rear window, been putting on new ones every so often since day one, but fitted a few more today And finally, something i've wanted to do for a while. Put white lettering on the tyres Seen this on quite a few scoobs and really like it so bought a tyre pen from the 'bay and set to work! I'm in 2 minds whether or not to do the 'Bridgestone' opposite 'Potenza' so opinions please guys? One more thing that i never realised was just how low to the floor my mud flaps get as i park her in the garage! (Spider web now also hastily swept away ) Hope everyone likes
  2. Newbie? Welcome to SIDC! I'm afraid i've only ever attempted to reduce a scooby to bits once and it didn't go well ...The lamp-post was flattened as was a 3 section railing, and the scoob lost a wheel amongst other bits However, here is a nice RB5 for sale Heres the link, Clicky
  3. I would imagine it would be ok but don't drive it on boost until its mapped! What other bits you going for? Exhaust, filter and fuel pump i'd guess??
  4. As Scoobydude says there are indeed re070. And yes they really are shocking in bad weather, in fact i never feel that confident in them in the rain, let alone snow and ice! So when the snow fell last winter i tucked the scoob up in the garage and didn't bother to drive her at all!
  5. Oh one or two And, sod it here she is again (any excuse ) And a slightly older (pre De-tango ), but head on shot
  6. You guys need to watch this clip from a few years back on Fifth gear Car Wash!
  7. Nice looking scoob mate! Not that i'm biased You've gone for the square front plate i see I have one on mine too
  8. Why not try somewhere like Grade A Subaru, or Jap performance parts and get some second hand genuine STi ones? Other wise, option 2
  9. Welcome fella. I've owned 3 Blobeyes now. 2 WRX's and my current '03 STi. Is the STi worth the extra out lay? Yes For starters the 6speed gearbox alone is with it! Then there is the better handling, better brakes, has a front LSD etc. (if you like blue) Better interior and so forth. Yes they are thirsty. I'm getting around 20-25mpg. DCCD is very good. But not essential in the least. Indeed most owners on here with it, seldom use it preferring to leave it in auto. In auto i believe its exactly the same as the non-dccd cars i.e 50/50 front/rear moving power rearwards as needed. Having driven a couple i can't say i miss it with my own car. Also with my own STi, you mention not modding (yeah right ), I have a standard air filter, but uprated exhaust. Nothing else so modest power gain from standard 265bhp? Nope, she throws out 290bhp! A WRX won't be able to do that so cheaply That said. The WRX is every bit as good but in a different way! The noise is the same as the STi, looks are easily sorted if you prefer STi clothes. Ride isn't as jiggly at lower speeds, and consumables brake pads etc are quite a bit cheaper, as is the insurance (STi is group 20!) All welcome things to consider!
  10. I'd only add, The rear shocks can play up, at least they do on the STi. They begin to knock, you'll hear and feel at walking pace. Not sure this affects WRX from 03-04 (or MY03) versions. but there was an update/facelift to late 04 (MY05) models which got revised styling; Red brake calipers, colour sideskirts, nicer interior, 3-spoke steering wheel (from a 4 spoke). But most importantly the suspension from the 03 STi which could be affected by the knocking!
  11. Welcome. What model scoob do you have??
  12. Hey welcome! A fellow ex-Monaro owner!! The big brutes are fantastic Which model did you have? I had a LS2 5.7ltr non-VXR. 350bhp and went like stink Though i could never get better than high 14sec quarter out of her on the strip Useless boot but a great looker with the twin pipes and bonnet nostrals! My STi monsters it to 100mph with a 'in the 13's' sec pass at Santa pod Heres what i had...
  13. I have a standard STi knob ( hold up... STI---Knob... Hmmm ) from a '03 Blob. 6 speed in the black leather with red stitch.
  14. In my experience Conti sport contact 2/3's are excellent
  15. Saw Ian and his bonkers scoob at Japshow the other week He showed me the feature, looks superb!
  16. Yes there is. Put "seatbelt" in the search bar at the top of the screen and follow that I'd post up a link but i'm not using my pc to write this Ok forget that top bit, here is the link! SEATBELT
  17. In my experience its not newage drivers that don't wave. Its hatch's
  18. Thats quite a decent budget for starters and the first thing you should do is up rate the brakes! The better your brakes the faster your car! But for bhp, yes 280bhp is about your standard turbos limit. To reach that power you'll have to change the whole exhaust system. Especially the cats. There are 3 on yours. Main one is in the downpipe. I'd suggest a sportscat as you'll pass MOTs with it. The other two, in the up-pipe and lower down-pipe, can be got rid of though. Change the intercooler for one from the STi. Up rate the panel filter, and fuel pump. You could also change the injectors. Get everything on then remap it asap. That way you'll only need to remap it once As for clutch. Exedy would be my choice.
  19. I'm fully aware of what ppp is And i appreciate your only going on what Prodrive say. But the fact is that 305ps was achieved on their car. So its a generic ecu map and not specific to your car. Of all the ppp cars i've seen and heard off on the rollers they don't make the full 305ps. Imo ppp is a waste of money! My own standard 03 STi makes ppp power with solely a different exhaust. And would easily make more with a few more mods and custom remap
  20. Lol, thats some write up fella! If you had to change your pants after driving the scoob a GT-R would have frightened you to death But you have made the right choice of car! The '03 WRX was also what i had as my first scoob, they really are fantastic to drive and own. The wave as LGG said above is acknowledgement of each other, like a biker nodding to another. Its great driving along, seeing another scoob Now bury your wallet, because you will spend on mods and mega tons of fuel Enjoy!
  21. As above posts. The exhaust strangles scoobs. STi intercooler (larger), STi up-pipe (no cat in the STi one ), free flow system to rear (could prob get the lot from a breakers, or sales from STi owners fairly easy). Panel filter and prob the fuel pump. Then a remap definitely to make the most of it all
