  1. Welcome Ace' ...Hmmm that seems weird... Nice scoob!
  2. Personally i love the P1. But i love the Type-R too! The gearing comments, acceleration and what not isn't really the point of the thread. £14,000! for a LHD classic!?! Its worth nearer half that! For the record my absolute dream scoob is... Pistonheads and only £5995!
  3. Clicky Bit steep for a Type-R even with good mileage Err, that or a P1???
  4. I use those confused.com sites etc. Then ring the best up directly and see if they can quote any lower. The best has always been with Tesco though for me. 28 with 11 yrs exp 5yrs NCB cost me just shy of £800 on my STi.
  5. Type-R's come as standard with DCCD, meaning they can be manually set to lock the diff at 50/50. Just like how non DCCD other scoobs run. On decent tyres (winter tyres would be preference) they are as good as any other scoob.
  6. Wish i was! But i'm off to Silverstone for the VXR Power (snigger) Festival. I work for Vauxhall so i got free tickets And of course i'll take the scoob up Just a shame they've banned other marques from running up the 0-60 and 1/4 mile sprints Scared other cars might show them VXR's up me thinks Enjoy the 'Ring mate! But be careful!
  7. Welcome! As scoobydude says your car should have a tracker as standard. Supplied and fitted by RAC Trackstar. Its very likely that yours won't be working, they tend to go dead after a period of inactivity. The customer services can attempt to ring the unit, but otherwise you'll need an engineer out to reconnect it. That costs £125. Then you'll need the years subscription. Hope you can get your scoob back on the road soon
  8. I brought a new CTR back in 03, 6 months later i'd driven a '53 WRX.... And well, i'm replying to you on a Subaru forum
  9. You won't need to be going like the clappers to enjoy the noise in that tunnel
  10. How about these Pirelli's? There full-on rally tyres Possible road legal too? The full page: PIRELLI
  11. Beat me to it Welcome mate! Good luck finding the right scooby for you
  12. Cheers TBH i took out everything that wasn't nailed down folded the mirrors in and gave her a wallop of revs to launch No wheel spin, no clutch slip, just wish i'd gone with less fuel Still, instant go and a very surprised CTR owner who appeared to be going backwards! I chatted with him after the run and he was saying about how i was next to him, the lights went green and then i was half way down the strip Not bad for a basically 'standard' blobby 'blob-eye' I'm convinced its all in the launch. Looking forward to seeing what yours does with grippy rubber
  13. Quenbys is on the Baldock highstreet and if someone could give them a tinkle they might like a gathering outside, though how involved they are with Subaru's now i'm none too sure Then as said there are plenty of roads out that way that are great to drive, and then there is the Baldock by-pass, a 'must-do' in my book with its fair length tunnel... Only issue i can see is it might well be a trek for the guys in Bedford?
  14. Grippy tyres will certainly help. One thing i like about my tyres is there dry grip and traction they give (RE070's), useless everywhere else though But defo a contributing factor to my cars 60ft PB of 1.86 achieved last year during my PB run of 13.6 I know i could get her to go quicker too as that run was with 3/4 tank of fuel in her belly
  15. Scoobypedia to the rescue; "Tyre Pressures Another popular topic for debate often revolves around tyre pressures. Drivers’ experiences show that the Impreza is sensitive to minor differences in tyre pressures (you can easily feel a drop of 2psi), so it’s worth checking them regularly. For the ‘96 model turbo, the recommended tyre pressures for the 205/55 VR 15 tyres are 33psi front, 32psi rear. Some dealers have suggested that these pressures are adhered to when fitting larger 16 and 17 inch wheels, however Prodrive suggest 33psi front / 30psi rear (up to 32psi on the rear for sustained high speed or heavy load) for all wheel sizes, while MRT suggested 35psi on both front and rear results in better grip and handling, at the slight expense of ride quality. Prodrive even suggest leaving the tyres at the pressures for trackday use, although increasing the pressure will stiffen the sidewalls somewhat. An owner in Milton Keynes (probably the highest roundabout density in the world!) reports that to combat excessive front tyre wear, Continental tyre engineers recommended that the MK police increase front pressures by 10–15%. The owner reports that while standard pressures wear the fronts in 8,000 miles, running at 36psi provides significant reduction in wear. Another common query is whether the tyre pressures should be reduced for snow or cold and wet conditions. The answer to this is no. Better grip and feel are obtainable using the standard or slightly higher tyre pressures. On the subject of cold weather, it’s worth checking the tyres if the car feels bad (more roll, poor turn-in) since when the air in the tyres cools, the pressure is reduced."
  16. On the second link the guy says, 'imagine looking to your left from your Subaru and seeing a three wheeled invalid carriage' Could you picture your granny holding on for dear life to a 'Busa shopping cart!! Big D very very impressive, gets off the line like you whipped its ass with a wet towel!
  17. Apart from the fact the cars entire breathing out has changed. If it were my car i wouldn't de cat it without a remap.
  18. I'm not sure a full decat without a remap is a good idea If i were you i'd get a few more bits to make a remap worthwhile and get it done asap.
  19. Yep that is the same as mine. For some reason they leave the shield on but the pipe runs straight through it In that case just swap the centre section for one similar to as i suggested and that will make your scoob a tad louder. If you want louder still then an Afterburner vortex will do the job
  20. Na, was trying to park her in tight on some dodgy back road in London, had the back in lovely. Didn't realise there was a slight curve and of course i rubbed the front wheel Its small section round the rim and 1 spoke has scrapes on it The hunt has begun to replace the damaged one. I have another that i'm not happy with (stone chips) so i may get like for like and keep a set as spare and stick some winter tyres on them
  21. I've only gone a f*****g kerbed it! ...any excuse to go get some new wheels
  22. Only use tesco when i have to, car feels crap on it! V-power is way way nicer to drive with, giving more oomph and better mpg. I'm off to fill the scoob this morning and my current mileage has topped over 300miles Thats mixed but with a few long M-way runs too. Quick bit of maths and she's retuning around 25mpg
