The character is copyrighted - but he's writing the book as himself about his time being employed to play said character. What's to stop Harrison Ford writing a book about playing Han Solo? Nothing! In both cases they'd simply be stating the facts.
I find it quite strange they're doing odds on a new Stig - surely the whole point of getting a new one would be that no one would know who they were anyway?
I say keep Collins - the man's just writing a book about playing a great character. He can still play said character afterwards!
I think I had so much confidence in the scoob from driving it for so long that I knew exactly what it was capable of in a left foot brake test situation. It's certainly not something I've been trying in the Clio!
Brake test the knobend the next time. When I had the scoob I was always a fan of just throwing on the fogs and coming off the gas - slows you down but not by braking - but they think you've hit the brakes. Or if they were still persistant then it was left foot brake then mash the throttle with the right. You can really cause someone issues with that one.
If someone is going to tailgate me then they get that or a wee gesture.
I thought it was fairly common knowledge that it was Ben Collins anyway. Wikipedia has said it's him for at least a couple of years I think.
Colour me completely unphased. Next you'll be telling me Darth Vader wasn't real......
Have been told much the same by my mate Paul. Pop round, let him buy me a chinese, then stand and watch as he fidgets with the kit car. Handing over the odd ringer or socket when he shouts.
G - I'm hereby offering you the same service.
I think the reason people swapped to other cars was nothing to do with the drive setup. People have been swapping to things that aren't as powerful/fun etc. For me it was simple - I'd had my fun and the running costs and future maintenance were outweighing the enjoyment by a large factor at the end.
The bad winter we had was one of the reason I would have stayed Subaru when I was weighing it up! I certainly didn't change because of 4wd.
Looking forward to hearing how it goes at TOTB Peter. With that kind of power it should be very exciting indeed.
I'll need to pop down for a Peter's performance pudding and a wee swatch at it at some point.
Did you explain to him that although you had beaten him you would have beaten him by more if it was on the proper map?
I once couldn't get away from what looked like a standard 1.4 civic (that's what the badge said!) that was admittedly sitting on some nice wheels and had a nice stance. Turned out it was a turbo'd 1.6 with no interior.
And now some pictures. Not a lot as we weren't there for too long and was catching up with people, but here's the full set - http://www.flickr.com/photos/st3ph3n/sets/72157624480341008/
