I'd just throw in a brief word of caution. Products like wonder wheels are great for doing a one off, "gonna get this sodding brake dust off once and for all" type of clean. However, it's strong stuff and whilst I'm not sure if it either dissolves lacquer, eats through it or gets under it, I know that regular and prolonged use, totally buggers up the finish on alloys (usually find that lacquer has disintegrated). I use the stuff once, maybe twice a year and that's all. However - as Jamie said, polishing the alloys makes life a lot easier (and yes, this includes the insides as well as outsides), as the dirt has greater trouble sticking to the alloy. Other than a 2-3 month polish, soapy water and sponge will do the trick nicely

Cheers Callum !! Yep - don't worry - I'll be researching my ass off before I start fiddling about with the engine - as you say there are many, many stories out there of blown engines and emptied wallets. Even before I tackle the heart of the beast, I'll be upgrading to 4 pots to make sure I can stop !! Was just curious to see what your one was, sounds like a hell of a machine - will no doubt have a gander at it at some point this year (runs / meets etc) Chris

Wilky - is yours a WRX - have you fiddled with the internals at all......? Just doing a bit of research into what people are doing - Hoping to step up the power a bit on my Classic later on in the year.....

Grovit replied to jamie_wood's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Swiggi, Matt & Jamie - Your names are on the TRS list now - 11:00am meet up at Stirling University 29th Jan 2005. (unless you're going to convoy to Stirling from Glasgow with Cal through the Clyde tunnel). Hope you enjoy the day folks !! -

Jamie, Swiggi & Matt - do you want your names added to list on the TRS site....? As Cal says btw - road etiquette is excellent on these trips, different groups for different speeds and we all regroup at intervals along the way. Should be good fun, there's quite a few folk going so you're more than welcome -
Chris - There's another thread about 7 pages back - where Marc (Boyakasha) has referred to : Wallace Performance in Bridge of Don. Don't know if that's of any use.....?

Man - I know - the weather absolutely sucks at the momemt - roll on summer.

MY94 - sorry to hear of the news mate - I appreciate know one was hurt and the other driver admitted liabililty etc etc , however I totally understand you being hacked off. Chin up bud - get the Scoob fixed and you'll feel a lot better for it.
-
You could try re-coat - tel: 0141 958 1777 - based in Whiteinch Glasgow - I know they do painting ('cos I'm taking my alloys there tomorrow) - however not 100% sure if they do repairs - If they don't do it though - I'm sure they'll know a place that does. Chris

Tyre outlets around Motherwell - Glasgow area?
Grovit replied to Marky-San's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Hi Doug - nope I arranged it myself. However, when I first spoke to them a couple of months back when I bought two other Toyos - I said they'd come recommended from TMS (a parts outlet in Airdrie - kind of like Partco) - said they'd come highly recommended and can they help. They did - and I'd recommend them to anyone - they won't always be the best on prices but they're competitive enough - good service though - took care of the alloys and even put on posh valves and valve caps. I think the head guy there is Alex.............. -
I've got a mate who's selling a white 205 1.9Gti E reg - 80,000 (I think) - very, very good condition - totally straight - think he want's £1,100 for it. Only thing is he's done in Cambridgeshire - don't know how far you're looking to travel.........
-
Well done Calsonic - looking forward to seeing the beast (and wuppin' yo ass in my black soob!!!)

<< 3. A82 Tyndrum to Fort William >> Definately this one - although a magnet for police in the summer time.
-
nope not goosed - just want them stripped and powder coated for a rock hard paint finish - should have them on for Jan run
-
Calsonic - Pm DRB5 (David) and ask him what the spec was - he'll be able to tell you what's been done to the beast....
-
I saw the car before it went to the dealer - looked gorgeous - shame to see it go from your drive David
-
Bugger - I would like to have made this one, however that's just one day after the Type R Scotland Jan run (29th - 30th). I'll need to employ dimplomatic relations with my better half for most of that week after being let loose for a weekend of petrol burning debauchery. I'll try to make the next one though (plus I'll be at the March run)

It's exactly the wrong amount of snow where I am (Hamilton). Freezing enough to snow so it's blinkin' cold, but wet enough so it doesn't lie - no chance of finding a deserted park to play in today then
-
Yep - merry christmas people
