  1. Grant your coilovers will just run standard 2.25 or 2.5" I.D. springs, you just have to put the right rates and legths on, not buy HKS items [:^)]
  2. "coilovers" don't make a car understeer, the setup does. Variables are:- Sprint Rates, Front/Rear Rate Ratio, Bump and Rebound settings, Caster, Camber, Bump Steer, Corner Weights, Ride hieght, the Rake of the car, etc. All a coilover is is a strut which is adjustable. If you find yours to hard, buy some softer springs, knock the damping down a bit and in most cases, if the rest are setup right it will be no slower on a public road. If you only want them so the car 'sits right' then find the cheapest you can. All IMHO of course ---john---
  3. Some people get to go pick up... [] Scott has always been more than helpfull to me. As Dave has alluded to, he works full time and this is his sideline. I'm sure you'll come to an amicable arrangement. Grant, don't upset Scott to much, he's bigger than you []
  4. Most dot5.1 fluids are very Hygroscopic and require to be changed very frequently. ---john---
  5. You'll all get your cars tanned if you park them at stobhill !!!! []
  6. That's all right, buy me a lager and we'll say no more about it [] I gather you should be getting it touch with me on another subject.... RB memorial, rally to spectate at , venue to camp at posssibly were all possible theory's [H] P.S. I work in Networking... learn some acronyms, that realy Fecks people up... they have to pretend to know what you're on about [6] Edited to add the overcomplicated smileys
  7. Callum, not meaning to be pedantic....but I suppose I am [] Okay lets get a few things straight here because I dont think people realise what an absolute nightmare a straight cut box is.(Lets at least get the terms right) f you want to do clutchless changes all the time and are prepared to pay for it, put up with the deafening whine and tempremental behaviour at low speed then straight cut is the answer, having driven one its a nightmare and horrible.(A straight cut gear set has nothing to do with clutchless changes, thats what dog engagement allows you to do, these are mutually exclusive, you could buy a straight cut syncro box) For what it's worth, don't even think of a dog box for a road car. If you can tolerate the noise, a straight cut gear set is what you want for strength... IF you can tolerate the noise. I had the funds to go for S/C and decided against it yes I have an uprated gearbox all internals by hewland, billeted selector rods etc etc, but I could not justify the aggro and f**kin noise the thing makes. If you want to ask advice of a man who regularly does these boxes for rally cars and road cars speak to Bill at Greersport, realistic chat, realistic prices. Some people like straight cut first couple of gears then mix and match as they go up the box. I suggest you drive a car with a s/c box before you buy one. Callum W

  9. This now comes with a six month Warranty, courtesy of a very generous Mr Forrest. I have an offer on it though, and if the asking price is not met tonight it'll be gone. ---john---

  15. Seems common practise, I bought my house on a drive by whim. Prepared to spend a six figure sum at the drop of a hat yet, being a Jock, I'll argue the price of a set of spark plugs. ---john---
  16. DAve, what have you got going spare ---john---
  17. Dave, only happy to help, sorry the advice was not as you'd hoped. Personnally I think these operations to make "It Bigger" are only temporary at best, bollocks, did I say that out loud ? Peter, was that £600 worth of egg noodles you wanted invoiced for, or was it the repair to the aircon ? ---john---

  25. Look great but..........Sorry, but all I can say is ' what a bunch of Pimps' these might impress Wee Senga on a Friday night but £/quicker ratio is stupid. Send the money to a good charity and feel good about yourselves, rather than trying to make your car look, to Senga, something it's not ---john---
