  1. emoe...would you believe I was lifting the phone to order the BT anywhere package last night...and heard the advert for mobile broadband...which made me think....I investigated it and thought if I removed BT from the equation and relied on a mobile signal it probably be better......but obviously not.......
  2. to be honest mate No...... I have been ready to throw the whole lot in the bin...... I get a ADSL signal for an hour or so and then of its goes and can be off for several days at a time...just flashing unable to get a stable signal....leaving AOL because they wouldnt instruct BT to look at the line...their only answer was "yes your property has a signal"....I know that,,,,its the quality of the signal I need looked at....BT wont help because I dont have BT broadband....I cant win I really cant...been going round in cirlces for months now.......cant believe I live 3 miles from Stirling, in the middle of a new housing estate, and cant get a decent broadband signal..its appaling.......I thought using the mobile network and not relying on BT would be the answer to my prayers..... I'm at a total loss now..
  3. morning all...... as most of you are aware I have posted several times over the last few months regarding my appaling internet connection situation with AOL. I have now requested my Mac code and will be moving to a new set up. Having tested several modems I am now pretty sure the problem lies with my BT line used for the net....at best it has only ever been capable of 512kbps...so based on the fact its unlikely by even moving to another provider the line issues will ever be solved.....I hope to have come up with a solution.......... I enquired last night about broadband mobile.....and it seems to offer me a solution.....here in lies my question though......... having checked the coverage of our area, whilst the mobile signal strength is excellent it is touch and go if I can recieve the 3G signal....at the minute its showing 2G..........To be honest speed isnt an issue for me, more reliability...if I could get a reliable 512 i would be happy.....so ......not understanding it well....I am correct in assuming that I cant get 3G, will the 2G service whilst slower still allow me to download music, videos, youtube etc........as reading the websites it only lists web browsing and text messaging capabilities.....??? or am I shooting in the dark again........on the upside I am presuming that the broadband 3G signal will be upgraded well before the BT landline ever will...so its should move to 3G soon I hope......so in summary will the 2G service provide me with a reliable service even at 512kpbs and still allow video, music download or streaming..?? thanks in advance for any advice....I NEED to get this sorted.... Paul
  4. good man...... I haven't been given my pocket money yet for this week...
  5. I take it thats the food your talking about!!!!
  6. Agree with Callum...Longhorns is fab....you could also have a look at the Birds n Bees Causwayhead Road area....been there several times, quality food.......or for Mexican Smilin Jacks in Barnton Street Stirlling is also excellent.......if price isnt an issue or its a special occasion you could try Osta at Craigs roundabout... Paul
  7. very funny Andy...made me laugh mate.... didnt record it did you...????? would certainly make my bannana
  8. Woahh you know your stuff...take it you work in this area... When I reboot the router I get a solid green phone line, then a solid red light for about 2-3mins then it goes of with no light at all then....??? it used to be fine if I went to the belkin page...and entered all my info again....aol screenname etc....but just not making any difference now.... in answer to the question above the computer is hard wired into the wireless modem with a cable....really only bought the wireless a year or so ago to replace my dodgy AOL BT wired one....at the time is was easier to get hold of .....only ever use the wireless on my PSP the odd time just to check on the site for posts...
  9. yes mate checked them last night...thats how I eventually got the phone signal to stabalise......just looking to get the modem linked to the net now....
  10. That answer is certainly more than 2ps worth mate...thanks... Well I got slightly further on as I texted Ian last night..after a lot of plugging and unplugging.....I finally got a solid telephone light on the modem.....usually at this point I go to the 192. address above and effectively register the modem again then the internet light goes to green...however after about 10 attempts and resets, etc I can still only get a red internet light....any plan now on how to get the final stage and get connected.... on another note....noticed the home phone into the main line had been acting kinda strangely with missed call displays etc...could this if plugged into the main socked which it is affect the line on the extension upstairs....????? thanks again guys really appreciate the help...
  11. have tried resetting it..(not for seven seconds mind you)...and then effectively starting from scratch at that IP address....will try it again with the 7 sec attempt.. cheers Paul
  12. thanks for the advice Guys........ Ian will check it out and let you know.....hadnt tried a direct connection to the main socket yet...will try that when I get it...... thanks Paul
  13. Right folks....posting this quickly from work.... Been unable to get an internet connection at home all weekend..... Have a Belkin ADSL Modem Router thingy........but having problems again.... similar to the last problem I had........the "telephone" icon is constantly flashing and unable to pick up a stable connection....my last BT one did this and I ended up ditching it......!!.....is there anything else I can check...I did connect my old BT AOL one and it cant pick up a line either....my main problem is nobody is prepared to help.....BT say because Im with AOL I need to route the problem through them....but when I done this before AOL told me to contact BT...frankly Im fed up with the whole lot of them..... any other things to check....???? obviously will check back later before I sign of in work.... thanks

  19. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree.......(waits in anticipation).... okay not the same budget or image...but you could do worse than a set of Kumho's.....had them on 3 of my road cars and have the KU31 on my track car...and they arent bad at all for the money......and the Irish Rallying tarmac muncher Eugene Donnolly swore by them for years... Paul
  20. Stevie... I got a set of Scoobysport grooved and drilled ones and a set of EBC Ceramic red stuff pads....set up worked a treat on the last track day....I'm sure they do them for new age cars as well..... pic shown....
  21. found a load of them Gus.......thats Jo in the top one when she was a time keeper and I was Deputy Stage commander in those days....ah that was the life.......found other ones of Mr Nesbitt in his early days...and Stephen Finlay in the first Escort Cossie...what a beast...
  22. Was digging through some old photos and came across these old photos of the other great tarmac rally master Bertie Fisher in the good times before his sad departure....just reminded me how many great rally drivers we have lost over the years, most of them not even in rally cars at the time....but hey I have some great memories of Bertie....hope you like the pics...(I know Grant will.....)
  23. thanks for the comments guys....looks like I will be keeping my eye out for a set then... cheers Paul
