personally I think your all mad meeting in Springkerse on a Sunday afternoon especially in the numbers who are going...even allowing for the usual 50% drop out rate.........talk about drawing attention to yourselves...!! you will have central scotland traffic police saying hi at some point I'm sure..

Hi all......... With leaving work this week...(sorry being pushed out of work) ...I need to get myself another mobile phone...... I am trying to understand all these special free deals at various shops..........If you go to Orange, O2, Vodaphone etc.......you just get the phone....but these shops on the net offering free Nintendos, PS3, Cameras etc.......how do they work exactly....do you actually get the gift and is there any catch..?????? am I better just going to an actually network shop and buying direct..?? thanks Paul

just a quick question for anyone living in or around the stirling area.....has anyone used the carpark beside the new VUE cinema round Forthside......just wondered if you had any problems with your remote central locking. On 2 occassions now we have been unable to get into the car for around 15mins .......think it might be something to do with the army refurb base thats next to it...anyone experienced this.... Paul

your right mate...and I'm now one who backs up big style...to 3 different locations.... anyway...the reboot of the pc was unsuccesfull. I ended up with the "blue screen of death" I believe its called... so anyway splashed the cash well card to be precise today and am typing this from my new laptop...complete with 3gb ram 160HDD and Windows Vista Premium....boy its different...the clarity of the screen is simply stunning......cracking piece of kit..I have to say....so just in the process of starting to back up to my new 500bg external drive.....will never lose data again...... so a happy ending all round...will get the original desktop rebuilt at some point and let me daughter use it for school.... thanks again guys for the assistance earlier in the week. With losing the family dog after 12 years last weekend...would have been gutted to lose his photgraphs so thanks for the advice... cheers all Paul

aye aye...thats what I meant to say......was just getting to it....

I find if you buy one of each type of Magnum Ice cream eat one at each corner and then use the stick to push the piston back works for me....takes around 4 hours mind you...and puts on about 10lb in weight..... although the last time I did mine I used a flat blade screwdriver....but thats on the RA gordon with no ABS to worry about......so not sure for you but Im sure someone will answer you shortly... hope you and the good lady are keeping well....hope to catch you soon...

SUCCESS...............YEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Finally gained access to the files guys......I really am not sure what I did that was wrong last night, but took my time and printed of a handy picture guide for techno numpties like me.....Stephen you may have been right..I think I was only working with the permissions tab and not the owner tab.....but following the instructions I found today....all worked perfectly...so I have now retreived all my data and music onto my work laptop, and will now try to restore the hard disc from my PC back to scratch to see if it sorts my boot problems....it may not...but its worth a try.... so thanks for all the help guys......really appreciate you all taking the time to try and answer.... cheers Paul

stephen...Im sure I did....I know it took a few mintues of activity before I could move on...but frankly Im now totally confused...I have changed every setting on the computer...and it doesnt work....so its on its way upstairs to get wiped and start from scratch....have accepted I will lose all of my itunes, scoob photos and so on.......just totally fed up with the whole thing....I give up.....

Welsho...that did get me into the security tab..and even though I gave full control access to everyone man and his dog....even other people down the street and the woman in asda....I still cant get into my documents and settings...so the towel is well and truly thrown in...... thanks for your help guys.....guess computers arent for me.... tried right clicking the H drive which is the caddy I believe from the size, in properties I have NO tab for security...just sharing....have tried sharing the drive with other users and it still doesnt let me into my documents....so thats it guys game over....I have had enough...I got my pictures of from the shared directory...give up finding the rest...I dont seem to have any of the tabs you guys are talking about....so acknowldege I am going no further with this...thanks for the offers of help..but frankly if I never sit in front of a computer again I wont be sad..... cheers

managed to log on briefly at home using laptop... I have tried right clicking on the folder and in the sharing and security tab there is no advanced option to change ownership...... just to confirm this is a caddy with the hard drive from my home pc running windows xp.......now connected to my work pc running xp pro....can access all other documents that were on the hard drive apart from my own documents and settings as when logging on my home pc when it worked I had to enter a password......so when I open the F drive which this external thing is coming up as...and click on Paul folder is says access is denied.....is there any other folder I can look out for on the hard drive generally that would let me access and remove the password protection..... really beginning to lose it now...the whole lot is about to get turfed out the window...... my dog of 13 years was put to sleep at the weekend...Im tired, emotional and frankly pig sick of this situation with the PC......in the skip it goes by tom if I cant work this out...the data can go and stuff itself...
