  1. There can be a bit of time getting set up so if she has a ds or psp bring it along to keep her amused. Personally I'd only take the kids if there was no alternative.
  2. In my opinion if you can find a 6 speed with the right (long) rations then I'd go for that. If you do fubar anything parts are readily available at any subaru dealer and it'll be strong enough for 99% of users. Plus it's nice and quiet and is easy to live with. The shorter ration boxes are meant to be just as strong but I'd spend more time in neutral then I do in gear as I'm throwing gears at it like mad as it is. I think I get max 3 or 4 seconds out of 3rd gear as it is if I'm nailling it. I've got a ppg straight cut in mine. I've got it because I got the chance of it cheap, lighter and the ratios suited me. So far it's been strong enough but it is harder work. For an everyday car I wouldn't even consider it.
  3. What you talkin about.? My car is a goddamm sexual tyrannosaurus compared to your limp dict effort.
  4. Not really, just fatter.
  5. Can I just point out this may be the gayest thing I've ever seen posted on this website. Nice one Davie, back on form.
  6. Yes, but is your good lady?
  7. G Mac"s pitched a tent or two but I don't know if anyone would want to share it.
  8. Andyjdmsti = gay Wilky = closet gay Coulty = ultra gay Corsa = gay wannabe, need to go to the gym first The Squiggle = not gay, just weird Discuss......................
  9. Not an expert but dccd, nitide crank and 114.5 pcd spring to mind
  10. 1 - 6 are classics, 7 is a bugeye and 8 and 9 are blobeyes. Basically a different number for each updated version.
  11. That can happen too but isn't as easy to diagnose, check the simple stuff first.
  12. Do you run a maf sensor or have you deleted it? If you still have it a boost leak would make the car overfuel like crazy. You would know from the smell, jerky response and plumes of black smoke when you booted it. If you don't have any of these symptoms I would make sure the circlip on your actuator arm hasn't come off. It's a very common problem but thankfully a cheap and easy fix.
  13. Print off a sheet of paper and leave it lying on the dashboard, parcel shelf or where ever they are going to see it. It should read - If you can read this you've just been caught on CCTV. I will pass the tape to the police if you approach my car again. They may look round for a camera but the penny should quickly drop that if they find one they'll be staring right into it.
  14. There is a monthly Glasgow and Lanarkshire meet. Have a look in the event section and see what suits you best, pop along and don't be shy.
  15. Yeah they're all pretty nice. However if you want the full effect look for an apexi n1 jap touring car spec. Now that's loud.
  16. For a weekend toy I would agree that a JDM STI import would be ideal. If you want something on the more extreme end of the scale an RA or Type R would fit the bill nicely. Best thing you can do is make it along to a local meet. People love to show off and talk about their cars and you could see a few different flavours all at the one time.
  17. Insurance companies will try and wriggle out of any claim but if they know you left him a set of keys I'd imagine you'd struggle to get any money of of them. Not that it would put me off trying, I'd badger them until I was blue in the face.
  18. More than happy to share my classic experiences to help you decide (UK & JDM) but before I'd make a recommendation I would have to know what your plans for the car are. I.e.is this a daily driver or a weekend toy, will it be left standard or modified to the hilt, if so are you into show and shine or is a mad power fix more your thing. As mention £5k will get you most makes and models so you've a tough choice to make.
  19. Almost certainly the pump then. It've a very popular mod to uprate the pump so most people know someone wth a spare standard one in their garage. Find someone local thats got one and borrow it to make sure before you go spending any money. It's not a big job, just make sure you disconnect the battery and remember the system could be presuriised alothough prponanly not if the pump or nrv is gubbed.
  20. I had pump fail on me, while I was driving it actually, so they can go. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge to check it? Would like to hear more about the strange noises though. What kind and under wat conditions?
  21. So sorry to hear this Frank. I hope they get whats coming to them real soon.
  22. If you have matched the ecu to the engine, turbo, fuelling etc then the answer is probably no. Ideally any jap import should have a remap even it has the standard ecu fitted as it will be setup to run on their 100 ron fuel and not the rubbish we get over here. That said I ran my import without a remap for over a year (with octane booster added to the fuel) and never had any problems. If you have any doubt you could book a rolling road session, which should work out much cheaper than a remap, and they could advise you if the car was running/fuelling ok. The only downside is if it is not you may have to end up paying out for a new ecu as well.
  23. What year of ecu is it, some are more difficult to map than others. If its a pre 99 one I'd recommed you wither find the correct one for it or buy an aftermarket one. Not cheap but cheaper than the results of running a car with the wrong map on it. If it's post 99 then everybody is going to tell you the same place to go. Do a search for Andy Forrest.
