  1. Lemme get her clean this weekend, I'll put some up-to-date pics up. Have you checked the members' whats your name and where d'you come from thread?
  2. This is kinda aimed at all; thanks for the replies. As I say, it was just one of the ideas that floats around my head during the day. Not something I was planning on acting on As I say, was just getting opinions on the subject to see if what I was thinking was correct. @Stu; Believe me, if I was going to do it, I'd have to get a genuine one and put some mesh over the intake if it wasn't there already to hid the airbox
  3. Morning guys and girls. I'm sure this is a minority thing, as there aren't a million n/a's running about, BUT.... I was thinking the other day of getting a hawk Turbo bonnet with the scoop. The imp just doesn't look quite right without it. Of course, that opens up a huge can of worms, but I was wondering what your opinion of it was. It could be taken as trying to be something its not/faster than it is etc. On the other hand, if you see a bonnet scoop across the road, you know to wave. Its not really something its not, as its still an impreza, and I don't have any badging to suggest its anything other than an n/a.... Hence why I'm looking for your opinions. For the record, It was something idly floating about in my mind, amongst the other things I need to do, like making a shorter throw mech (I have a good idea ), putting a proper radio in it, and keeping it on the road. Others might have toyed with the idea and 'thought better' of it, or gone for it, but I couldn't find a thread on it. So! Is it false advertisement, or a fair enough mod that just adds a bit more 'subaru' to those who can't afford a proper one?
  4. In fairness to Don, when I first started learning hardware programming, we were given a programmable IC board with 10 LEDs on, a lead, and an instruction sheet on how to program it... Given 15 minutes, I'd worked out what was going on and turned said PCB into a 'Kit' Emulator. My lecturer was actually impressed, because no one had ever done it before. Sorry, what? Don, If you want, I could always mock up a more legit version
  5. 30FPS is the minimum to go for. TVs generally use 60Hz unless otherwise stated, just to give you an idea. 30 is the bare minimum, but if you can get 60 without breaking the bank, it'll be much smoother.
  6. Worst moment: When I'd just bought it and realized that the two front wheels were buckled, the tracking was out, and it was doing 24mpg with me driving carefully. All but the tracking is fixed now. Best moment: Finding out what 100bhp more and 2WD more than my old car is like in snow Oh, and washing a real spoiler. lol
  7. Is that adjustable dampening I see? Looks the nuts, but as mctwist says;
  8. I'm with Davey. 1 and 2 were defo the best, 3 was disheartening, and 4 made me reach for my sniper rifle and scope. 5 brought it back quite a bit imo, more driving content, but I still can't take the man seriously as a driver when you put him in anything but ideal circumstances, he throws the car at the scenery. A wannabe Colin McCrae perhaps, but without the natural talent of the man. Don't get me wrong, I still think him a good driver, just, when you put him next to , for example; Petter Solberg, who, WITHOUT factory support, managed to get a Citroen into podium positions, ahead of the american, who did have factory support, more sponsors, etc. etc.... consistently, you have to ask why people aren't throwing their money at the Norwegian instead of the loud, brash, self-righteous american (Note: I am biased towards Petter anyway, having had a few chats with him at the Wales Rally GB the past few years. Its not going to be the same without him )
  9. Well we saw at New York, I think it was, what they have for us in the form of the WRX... Well, I say "us." not the UK. I can only imagine the STI will be a harder, better, faster, stronger version of that (<= Hat tip if you get the song reference).
  10. It finally happened! I'm a member! :D

  11. the n/a 2.0 version of the hawk. Best looking version of the n/a's and fastest too
  12. Oooh, lkie mine... but with a bonnet scoop
  13. Does anyone else really want their tracking done, or is that just me? I obsess slightly over tracking, and with the 4WD, I'm feeling even more suspicious.
  14. As I said, I agree with the acceleration thing. The third gear I find a bit odd. I normally go into fourth and feather the throttle, that and a little awareness keeps you at the speed limit. The speed triggers are spot on though. If you want to drive economically, for goodness sake, don't put that new drum 'n' bass CD on!
  15. Ooooh, interesting! However, my attention was more taken by the page here. Most notably, 'one way to drive efficiently is by accelerating briskly to a safe cruising speed and staying at the highest gear.' So all these people slowly accelerating are acually polluting more than others! I like this information, as it backs up what I have thought for a long time anyway.... Perhaps a V-Power Nitro+ treatment is in order!
  16. Unfortunately, in a private, guarded work car park, I can't really use that excuse. Its just people not caring about theirs or anyone elses property. Annoying really, because there's no need for it.
  17. I'm at the opposite end of the scale atm. With other commitments and interests, adn with the scoob being a commuter car of 40 miles a day, any amount of washing will only result in another 3 hours of prewashing, rinsing, washing, waxing, etc etc the very next weekend to keep it clean. Besides, I've already had people bash their doors into mine in the car park :@ wish I could find out who it was and make them pay. Car envy is a terrible thing. (Also might have something to do with the fact that, unlike the women who I tend to work with (no generalisation intended to the women on the forum), I park in the CENTRE of the parking bays, rather than off to one side, or as I had this morning, diagonal. I'm sure reverse bay parking was a pass criteria on the driving test last time I checked?
  18. I'd post more, but in my old community, I was one of the more 'mature' ones. Here, I still feel like a baby (not to mention I'm still learning the characteristics and nature of the forum). I'm still half-afraid of making a complete ar$e of myself in front of, what I plan to be, a fairly long-term commitment to a community.
  19. Can only +1 above. I've literally just finished reading through what I can find. It touches me since I regularly joke about explosions, wars, zombie apocalypses, just as a hypothetical conversation. For something I've only ever imagined to be brought to life on an intimate, personal level by news teams and social media alike, makes you value what you have, and ponder what could be each time you step out your front door, or don't as the case may be. All in all, for anyone personally involved in the tragedy reading this. We all at SIDC send our warm regards and as mctwist said, our thoughts will be with you all in the aftermath of this horrific tragedy.
  20. Ohh, okay. It is a Monday. I'll use that as my excuse
  21. Because the background is only one frame of the 4. If this is the case, I'm more impressed by the focus on the Impreza. Normally a focal length like that would induce compromises elsewhere, unless it ws really bright.... In any case, its a pleasure to look at the thread and the picture again. Very well done
  22. I vote 4 pics from a tripod and a lot of editing. Doesn't detract from the amazeballs pic! I seem to recall a fad of this 'type' of picture being done everywhere. Might be wrong, but hey. Fantastic picture all the same!
  23. Hmm.... Are you around tomorrow after 5? I could come have a quick look, see if there's anything obvious either in fault codes on the ECU (got an eBay bluetooth OBD2 plug and an app on the phone), or in the bay itself. Most of my knowledge comes from VAG turbo engines, although the same principles should apply. Out of interest, when was the last service, and what oil etc was put in? That could be having an impact. I just changed the (almost black) oil in mine and the difference is startling. edit: I'm also just thinking basic things, try resetting the ECU? Like unplug it for 15 mins or so and plug it back in... that'll very quickly tell you if its software or hardware related I think....
  24. Turn your ipad landscape then.... Or better yet; Don't use an iPad... or an iPhone... or an iPod... or any Apple device.... I might be a bit biased against Apple though.... Does it show?
