  1. I was toying with the idea of starting organising meets down this way off my own back. Label it as a SIDC meet until/unless something goes wrong and the wrong type of person shows up. As quoted though, personally, its important to get people to see the point in paying £20 for membership. Speaking to their wallets is the best way to do that. Get in with larger companies that can offer small discounts nationwide. Breakdown cover, even if its only a small percentage, its a start. When people see its not dead, they'll return.... Also can we add a spellchecker to the forum? I don't want another Scoobynet where every post is in textspeak -_-
  2. Welcome. Lovely cars, all of them. Hope the RB serves you well
  3. Why sell up? Worst case scenario, get a diesel with a towbar (and a trailer), strip the impreza, and use the saved money to take it on the track.
  4. Very cool! How much is it to get on the track? Last I saw was £160 for the day. Can't afford that atm unfortunately, otherwise I'd be there too! Good luck on the day.
  5. Ty for the info on 1 Lewis. As for the second: I realize any 'gains' would be minimal. I'm more of a 'wonder if this will work,' kind of person. And I like fabricating/doing things that haven't been done before, necessary or not. When you consider the cost of a WRX bonnet + fabing my own airbox, its not a lot of money to see if it'd work. That and functional bonnet scoop so no one can complain about my having a bonnet scoop on an n/a Right, to Unequal headers make such a small difference, hence why Subaru took so long to change it. This makes a lot of sense, thanks. Ahh, ty on all counts Don! I'll have a look at the exhaust next time I'm under the car. And as for looking at US forums, thats not something I'd considered before. *toddles off to scour NASIOC*
  6. Will reserve ultimate judgement for a day shot, but looks awesome like that! Nice one!
  7. Sounds good! Might even extend the offer to the essex boys too. Although I'd probably wait till the summer so my n/a has less of a disadvantage
  8. How accurate is the Hayes Dyno..? Never been there before (despite being around the corner from me
  9. Good luck! How young is youngish? Cos if you want about 90% of the fun without the tax + insurance etc, there's always the n/a's. I'm running a 2.0 Hawk, best introduction to 4WD daily driving and general subaru ownership you can find imo
  10. Love it! Might do this when I get a girl to drive mine..... I'm sure it'll make an awesome video!
  11. As am I. With the n/a's relative lack of power, I'm slightly shocked that no one seems to have found a good way to manufacture a CAI other than a second pipe to the existing airbox. The only flaw in the plan is the MAF, which surely can be relocated to a new airbox with relative ease, I would assume.
  12. Totally a thing. Okay! Since my knowledge of the boxer engines, and Subaru's in general are limited to 'I know why the engine works, why they do it, and where the turbo is,' I have a habit of thinking outside the box. However, the things I'm thinking have probably been thought of before and not done for a reason. Its those reasons I have yet to find out. Hence this thread. I'll be posting my questions in here that come to mind and most people can probably see a flaw in my seemingly sane plan..... So, 1: Headers are the first part of the exhaust, connected to the block, correct? So, unequal headers means one bank of exhaust is longer than the other. I've also read that there is a performance loss through this. Would that show on my n/a, and/or would the burble change/come back? Also; Would 2.0/2.5 unequal Headers even fit my engine? 2: How much space is there under the TMIC/ air intake? Would a cold air intake be of any use back there if an airbox was fabricated to utilize the bonnet scoop? As I say, these are outside the box ramblings, so if there's something I've missed, please shout them at me.
  13. No way I could afford that, but its a lovely interior, and the exterior is certainly not the worse!
  14. SIDC show day...? That'd be awesome.
  15. I wonder if that interior will fit in mine....
  16. Okay, this may be a shot in the dark, but I was browsing through Opposite-Lock (Jalopnik sub-site) and noticed a picture of a Porsche GT3RS with the 'tracks the car's been to' tattooed across it's backside. I didn't recognize any, but thought one of them reminded me of Apricot Hill Raceway from Gran Turismo. Now getting transfers and the like to make transfers of the things would be relatively simple. Thats not the point of the thread. As enthusiasts, I presume at least a few of us have gone around a track made by a game dev at a desk and thought "I wish this track was real." My own preference being Special Stage Route 11 from the original Gran Turismo game. Given the chance, part of me would put a small decal, perhaps on the boot, of the said track. Because I may not have done it in life, but in game, I've done endurance races on it! Besides that, its a conversation piece, and unique. My question to you all is: Whats your favourite imaginary track/layout from any racing game, and would you put a decal of it on your car?
  17. Type the part number into google shopping. Surely there's a dealer who would post it to you..?
  18. Been there, done that on the OP. Thankfully it was on my Corsa, on steel wheels. Got home and tried to cover the wheel which obviously wasn't straight and scouring the webz for replacement steelies. Ended up finding a set round the corner and having to get my dad's help to redo the tracking. You live and learn eh?
  19. Joshua, Last I remember, Subaru aren't bringing the Impreza to these shores (I'm right in saying that, right...?), so its doubtful. Although I agree wholey with everything thats been said so far, and the concept of losing ~10bhp for the same of the burble seems a complete waste anyway. There's 2 ways of looking at it: Yes its sad there won't be any more shiny impreza's roaming the streets, BUT, with this type of sedan tainting the bloodline, do we really want it? The hatches are a reasonably large departure from what we know the impreza's as, but they still rallied them at National levels. This seems as though its more aimed at the Insignia market, but with the flat-four, which I get, but whats the point of a Subaru if its more-or-less the same as a Vauxhall, perhaps with a lower centre of gravity.
  20. 10/60!? I'm running 5/30 FS in mine because 'its the recommended one.' I really need to read up more on oil, because that blew my mind slightly more than I think it should have.
  21. This was in my recommended videos. I won't express my opinions yet, just watch. Looks better in video than any photo I've seen so far, thats for sure!
  22. afaik, you'll notice it more in your fuel tank than the engine, and the benefits aren't usually worth the outlay - either up-front or over-time. There is more stress put on the engine, and this might play a factor depending on how well it's been maintained etc. Could be talking out of my backside though, and it'd probably be better to wait for the more experienced users to wake up, but that was my understanding of it...
  23. Ahh, now the term UP pipe makes sense. With the Exhaust manifold going UP to the turbo, and back down. The more you know....
  24. Oh, on the exhaust side. I was thinking a Intake Pipe from my VAG history. Still not familiar with the engine layout on the turbos. Need to get my hands dirty on one methinks >: )
  25. I'll go get the long weight, shall I? What the hell is an up pipe anyway!? XD
