  1. Just for the record... the car I might get them for is NOT A B.M.W.!!!!! There's no way I'd have a beemer in the family for the reasons shown in the picture lol - I'm almost as offended as if someone had suggested it was an effin Audi! My missus has an Italian V8 - but at least it means I can slag her off because I now have the more sensible car in the household Think I'll go for them - means she'll at least be able to either get hame from work or be able to reverse her car oot the drive to pinch mine for snow driving.
  2. I'm a surfer so get back into my car in my wetsuit to drive hame. I just bought cheapy Asda ones - think they were under a fiver for two - but the fit isn't great - mind you, I've only ever tried to fit them when standing in my wetsuit! So maybe the fit would be better if some time taken, I'm away working just now so can't even nip oot and try to see if I can fit them more thoroughly.
  3. Beemer? It iz not ein BMW! It's a coupe with 265/35ZR18 on the back. Don't want to put on winter wheels and tyres cos it'd look pish lol
  4. Anybody here used snow socks before? Nae so much for the Scoob cos it does more than ok in the snow - more for the missus' car. She's gone and got herself a rear wheel drive car and I think she'll be grounded as soon as the first flake falls and she'll be nabbin my scoob if I'm awa at work! I've seen these snow sock things advertised. Are they a daily driver solution or just a "gets ye home" solution? There's a company Autosock that claim to be the daddy of snow socks (accept no imitations and all that guff) - but they don't do a size to fit her rear wheels. AutoSock Then there's Snocks who do the correct sizes - but the fitting video on their website is filmed in summer - the boys wearing shorts FFS! So reckon they might be cowboys? Snocks vid Fair bit of cash to shell out if they're cr4p, ye ken. Any opinions welcome! Ta!
  5. Some scoundrel put this film available for download on the internet. I've taken a copy as evidence and will forward onto the relevant authorities. But think I better watch it first so I can inform them what the content is like
  6. Who's doing the refurb? Any chance of some before and after pics?
  7. My missus has a Maserati 4200 Coupe Cambiocorsa (4.2L Ferrari Engine) - I enjoy being the sensible car owner in the family and never want to give up on Subaru's, wouldn't get my surfboard on the roof of a true sports car in any case It took me about 10 years of scrimping and saving and job changing till I was in a position to buy my first Subaru. My desire to become a Subaru owner kinda shaped my life from when I first drove one in around 2000, putting alot on the line back in about 2002 - quit a job and moved back to Aberdeen to try and get offshore work, all to own a Subaru. After 3 years I eventually managed to get offshore, and my Subaru aspirations kept jumping up in price little by little - but with newage STI's still just out my reach. So took another risk and quit a settled job to move to a job on a rig in a dangerous part of the world because I knew i would finally get me my Soob! Anyway - so because of all that I feel emotionally attached to Subaru Impreza because it's played such a big part in determining how my life panned oot lol. GTR? Italian Supercar? No thanks
  8. I really like how Subaru use the warranty angle as a selling point - while at the same time using it to put the fear into people who want to modify their car. Highlights the fact that the engine is on a knife edge so they dinnae do themselves any favours. I think it would be in their interest just to STFU about warranties... but better still, just sort the chocolate pistons oot and let us mod away! And at 50+ grand ye reckon for a type-25 - I think I'll settle for Type-20 or a second hand GTR!
  9. I wonder how long until ye could phone up Subaru and they'll bite yer hand off for offering 40 grand for an unsellable CS400? I downloaded the brochure just for a nosey and got emailed aboot 3 times by them lol
  10. Jeez are Pro-R / Subaru / IM Group / Cross Roads havin a laugh?! Nae actually sure who is the brains behind the car or the pricing. I was all for the Pro-R brand during the build-up stage but 40 grand for 340 horses - they're havin a laugh surely? That's more than the 400 PS Litchfield Type-20 and is encroaching into nearly-new Nissan GTR territory! And ye don't even get a sat-nav or a full set of the same Alcon brakes! WTF I'm comin up for trade in time soon, and am ditherin which route to go - Pro-R are definitely helping me narrow my choices doon, that's for sure (and not in a good way). Really lookin forward to seeing the Litcho type-25 when it's finally unveiled (will it ever be?).
  11. Wee time-lapse video here for SRT USA putting together their car from a stock STi. Here's da linky to clicky Click on the [Cars] tab and the video will load up. Under the [news] tab there's hunners of foties fae the x-games too.
  12. Nae sure of the exact car... but looks standard apart fae different alloys and the mudflaps. Pretty sure Brian Downie had one on his site recently, red hatch, with Eibach springs, HKS CA induction, zunsport grills, remap... but think it was cheaper? Nae sure of mileage though. Maybe yer friend could ask him to do some freebie upgrades into the deal? I had thought it was a bittie expensive - but thanks for posting the link - I just checked autotrader and found my hatch hasn't plummeted in value as much as I thought
  13. Real soory to hear that AliT. Do we have to wait until ye've had your warranty work done for you to name and shame the dealer? I fully expect my hatch to give it up sometime - gave up being nervous about it as it's out of warranty and there's damn all you can do to stop it by the looks of things. AndyF did some tweaks to mine but only time will tell. I'll never buy another UK Subaru as long as they use this engine - real poor show by Subaru UK / IM Group on this... and they're still selling these cars knowing fine well there's a serious issue. The cars have dropped so much in depreciation - and if the engine goes pop it's more expense. I love Subaru's so wanna keep owning them - so reckon Litchfield JDM is the only way to go now.
  14. Nae strictly a Subaru question - but hoping some of you guys can help. I bought a 2nd hand car just over a week ago - and a couple of days ago the brakes started making a grinding noise. Could this be a case of really bad luck on wear and tear, or could the garage have done something to make the brakes seem ok short term? I was driving and braking ok during my test drive. The car has brembo's and I'm imagining it's gonna need new pads all round, that winnae be cheap - hopefully not new discs too. Or am I just a big cynic? Thanks
  15. Would luv'd to have come to this, itchin to get the hatch on a track, but stuck in the desert for another month
  16. I've got a bass sub... so I guess I give "the decent folk" on the forum a bad name I'd be more inclined to say folk with stickered up cars give "the decent folk" on the forum a bad name (edit - I've nothing against stickered up cars - just using it to emphasize how ridiculous a statement switch625 is making)
  17. I think we've all had it... A while back I was oot at the car park at my old flat and two boys came oot and one says really loud "That's a real boy racer car that". Seeing how I'd often seen them get into their 5hitty barry boy shed of the week poorly pimped Audi A3, I had a wee chuckle to myself. Guys at the rig always asking what folk drive - and when I say Subaru STi Hatch I often get the "are ye nae a bit old for that?" line. I just tell them I am but I'm a big kid. They then go on to tell me about their auld mannie Beemers and Merc's and generally boring stuff that they think is on a far superior level of cool... which we all ken it isn't! Am I a boy racer? Aye, probably! I think what this thread needs is a poll!
  18. Good job on the de-badging - was waaaaay too "busy" before. I'll get round to doing it to the hatch one day
  19. 50mpg and 50sec 0-60? Nice lookin motor though
