  1. Well that was FUN! Rally day was good, but nae long enough obviously! I hadn't realised it was kinda a competition against other folk... so when I found that oot I wanted to win lol!. Hadn't driven a classic turbo in aboot a decade so was much fun. Managed to bag a Knockhill runners up medal for finishin 2nd oota 13 too :-D Next day I took myh own car on - like the previous poster said, my brakes were going spongy after 4/5 laps. Was greasy with showers when I was on so pretty challenging - and didn't want thrash the car to death any hoo byt was great fun! Everybody immediately thinks "more power" when they buy a Scooby but takin it on a track immediately makes ye think brakes and suspenions (and buying a classic turbo track car lol). Will needa booka service when I get hame from work :-/ Right - fit brakes will nae go spongy after 5 laps? :-)
  2. Very Very Nice :-) I'm ditherin over those Prodrive GT1 alloys at this very second :-) p.s I love the hatch threads - anywhere that shows me new manufacturers of STUFF cannae be bad :-)
  3. Anything with a Union Jack deserves it's windaes panned in :-)
  4. Unfortunately every SIDC Knockhill trackday this year coincides with me being away at work :-(
  5. Link to Knockhill Rally Experience I wonder if they teach, "If in doubt... flat out" Will be the first time I've driven a classic Impreza turbo since about year 2000 - when I first fell in love with Imprezas... CAN'T WAIT! I got vouchers for my xmas - actually got from my missus and my folks - so that's why I'm doubling up on courses... I originally only wanted the performance driving but the rally sounds ace
  6. I'm booked on a 1 hour performance driving course at Knockhill next week and hope some folk can give some pointers. Where is the nearest Shell garage with V-Power to Knockhill? Will obviously check oil and coolant levels in the car - but anything else I should check? Will need to clean it and make sure there's nothing flying about inside. How should I care for my engine and brakes best doing 10 laps of Knockhill at a time? Should I take it easy and preserve my pride and joy - or is "spirited" driving ok? Is a more or less standard STi built to handle me taking it on a track - even for just 2 x 10 lap runs? What's a respectable lap time? lol I've also booked onto the Rally Experience in their Impreza Turbo - really looking forward to that.
  7. Ye've still got a day to get in for some discounted Chipex I like the look of the slim body WRX hatch - looks sporty. I keep wishing I would go for a big drive one day but never get round to it.
  8. Lookin good... Subaru PUMA Rallycross Team Video Linky
  9. Right - I'm stuck! PLEASE HELP! lol The installation diagrams that came with the Tamioka AOS are different from MY08 STi and I guess are for older engine. Same as on link here Tamioka Install Link I've looked online and have found installation instructions for a Prova AOS - and they seem to have really simplified the installation - and I can see how it might work: Prova Install Link Don - if you read this, have you a foto of how your Tamioka one is installed please? From the foto I've included on your engine below - I'm interested to know what's going on "round the back". Or do you think I could follow the Prova instructions? Much appreciated! edit to add some fotos: 1. 2. 3. The hose I'm pointing at in #1 foto attaches to the turbo inlet hose with the fitting marked with the white 'x' shown in foto #2. Should I unplug this hose from the plastic fitting on the turbo hose? Then use a rubber cap on the plastic fitting. Then use the #1 hose to come up and T into the breather hose that I will run to the AOS? Foto of Don's engine from Hatch Mods thread.
  10. Saw a lovely white hatch today on Union Street. Liked the Prodrive alloys! Also, the noise when it pulled away was well good - wonder what sorta exhaust it had, anyone on here?
  11. Aye, zero cap straight swap fir header tank cap. Cool rad cover real easy to fit too, 4 plugs and 2 bolts to redo. I'm talkin STi but nae sure WRX is same. Got mine fae Pro-R website so they are defi fir right year, pretty sure ye could call them for any clarifications. Should add, it's the "Pro-R Racing" website, nae the normal "Pro-R" website. :-)
  12. Did my engine bay degrease and wash then shortly after that my Pro-R goodies arrived - got the heat shield installed and my zero sports cap. Thanks to Pro-R for the speedy service! Had a look at the AOS install but the instruction pictures are a wee bit different from my engine bay layoot and it's gonna take some time... and I'm meant to be meetin mates at the pub shortly lol.
  13. Today's wee mod while I wait for my Pro-R parts which should arrive tomorrow (Pro-R seem mega efficient at shipping which is good!) Added some mesh for front fogs... I'm actually nae sure how well this mesh will do in a fecht wi a steen, so may also add some of that laminate stuff too. Tomorrow is engine bay degrease and jet wash to get ready to install my Pro-R goodies. I also bought a Zero Sports 1.3 bar cap - had thought about a Forge alloy header tank but didn't want to shell oot that much. Also just ordered some discounted chipex to repair a mark on my bonnet and a scratch on the side.
  14. Clicky Linky... Stainless Steel Pro-R Cooling Panel
  15. I got Pirelli P-Zero Rosso's for the missus Maserati a couple of months ago. Haven't driven it too hard with them but seem good. However, a major plus point I noticed which will sway me to them for the Soob... the rubber protrudes beyond the lip of the alloy - so I'm pretty sure it will be really difficult to "curb" an alloy with them installed! I never knew this feature when I bought them - but with the state of my alloys and my superb knack a clipping curbs and pot holes - this seems like a no brainer to me in future if I want to keep my alloys looking good.
  16. Ok - after all that I've gone for the Pro-R/Tamioka Air Oil Separator - I didn't even know Pro-R did these, so after looking at the design and also checking install instructions - I decided that was the one for me. Thanks for the advice! Pro-R Tamioka AOS
  17. So, got my Perrin front strut brace installed today. Took a bit of jiggling to get it in there and under the firewall, but I reckon it looks nae bad if I do say so myself. And I should have a few other bits and bobs delivered in a few days from the guys at Pro-R. Ordered a Pro-R/Tamioka Racing Air Oil Separator - decided to get this instead of an oil catch can because I reckon this is technically better than an oil catch can - thanks to Ballistic for pointing oot this option! Also ordered a Stainless Steel Pro-R Cooling Panel - currently reduced to £60! So after a slow start 2012 is now picking up speed - I know folk will say I'm doing things in a weird way, but I'm having fun and just getting on with installing wee bits and bobs that take my fancy.
  18. Thanks to Don for showing me some sites and giving me some ideas for modding! Right - Oil Catch Cans... I fancy one because they seem like a good idea technically - and it's something else to look at in the engine bay! Anyone recommend one, or advise against one? How easy are they to install? I see Perrin do a silicone one available in red for £120 from JW Racing. Anyone think silicone would be as good as aluminium or alloy? I fancy red to match my manifold, K&N Typhoon and Perrin strut brace. Otherwise there's a Cusco one from japanparts for £66 plus shipping etc. Or Just-Subaru's one for about £65 Any other opinions much appreciated - thanks!
  19. All I can say aboot those engine bays is WOW! Will definitely be giving mine a clean. Thanks for the links - i think - you may just have opened me up to a whole load more of modding expense though! lol Definitely given me some ideas!
  20. Don, apologies but gonna bombard ye with a few questions cause I like the look of yer car... even with that silly sticky oot bum on it where the hatch should be lol. Have ye got a link for yer Scoobynet thread? Not seen it but am insterested. Where'd ye get the carbon cover for the pulleys in the middle of the engine, or is it wrapped? What's the wee tank with the STi and Pro-R logos - is that standard on the 2011? How did ye get the engine bay so clean? I've read ye can jet wash the engine bay but am nervous about that. Ta
  21. Ok - so while abidee was away havin a fling - I got on with my mods for 2012 so at least I didn't have a Scooby free weekend either Fitted my carbon fibre stickies on my doors - difficult to get a good picture but happy with these, although they were pretty expensive and I wonder if the same effect could have been achieved with carbon vinyl. However, the finish on the genuine Subaru ones is very good. The black finish on the window frames was beginning to look a bit tired so this covers it well. Also fitted the genuine front fogs. Well impressed with them and was a doddle to do. Never bothered taking bumper off and the whole job was done in under an hour. Was much easier than I thought to install. - Ballistic... I see what you mean about how the lense could be vulnerable - can you recommend somewhere to buy mesh? Do B&Q do it? Thanks. And I guess that's me almost oot of genuine Subaru accessories to add now, so far have added exhaust finishers, STi front lip spoiler, Carbon Stickies, scoop grill and the foggers. Only other I would consider is a scuff guard for the back bumper/boot. I have the Perrin front tower brace to install in the next few days and am also finally gonna do a debadge of everything but the STi. Other things being considered - suspension upgrade, alloy wheel refurb/new wheels, some carbon wrapping of a couple of things.
  22. Class video! Lovin the 3 wheel action, was that "Ballistic"? General Lee horn a belter too Wish I'd bothered my arse to go now
  23. Quick question... I have a private plate I got in May 2011. Do I need to do an annual renewal on the plate with the DVLA? Or do you only need to renew if it's not actually on a car? Ta
  24. Fitting the lower grill is easy, on with some protective masking tape, bit of poking about with a long screw driver to latch it on, jobs a goodun. Scoop one involved removing the scoop and drilling 3 wee holes. My car came with the main grill installed so nae done it myself... I think it's a bumper off job - which sounds daunting, but looks nae bad if you check oot the instructions on iwsti website - the instructions are for an STi but guessing WRX is similar if not the same: Bumper Removal Link IWSTI is a great site for how to's for the hatches - probably to do with the americans having much more aftermarket products for the hatch. I just google 'iwsti how to ....' and usually it leads you straight to what you want to find. If you are taking the bumper off - a good mod to do at the same time is a horn upgrade, get rid of the toy car horn that Subaru's come with and put in something beefier. I was just gonna try and fit the fogs withoot taking off the bumer - cos heard ye can - but I reckon I will fit some Hellas or PIAA dual horns while I'm at it.
