  1. Holy sheet that's a bit twisted I reckon our old Amber will make some crackin slippers when her time comes - but I'm nae turnin her into a radio controlled toy, that's just weird
  2. White? Not the BEST colour - cos dark grey is lol... but I do like the white... and I also like the red... and possibly the blue too I like the look of the "slim body" wrx hatch, looks tidy. On some of the American forums folk have got them looking well smart. Like I said it seems to have just been the STi's that suffer possible engine failure because they're running increased power. Good luck with the purchase!
  3. Does anyone know if METASAT text number has changed? I'm trying to get a SAT.STATUS but not getting a response. I've got plenty credits and an active subscription. I've tried the original +3933******* and also a +44 number that the tracker once sent me an alarm update from. Neither is responding - any ideas?
  4. Get yerself onto confused.com - that's how I started working oot what insurance would be when I was building up to getting my STi. I ran a Golf GTi 2.0L for 6 years first, all the while wanting an STi Subaru - All good things come to those who wait.
  5. As far as I know - any issues with hatch engines have been with STi's... and even moreso with the 330s if ye believe the gossip. Alot of it was down to mapping problems. If it's the same block in the WRX as the STi - the lower power of the WRX shouldn't pose any problems for the block. As with any Subaru turbo engine - treating her right, checking the oil regular and nae bouncing the limiter off the redline all the time will help - so will warming up the car before giving it some and also allowing it a wee cool doon after. What colour ye thinking of? Remember and get some pics up if ye buy it... then get yersel along to SIDC at Alford on 8th July
  6. Well, seeing as I've had nae luck winning in the past week - thought I'd give you all the chance to share in the perpetual disappointment lol GoPro Daily Giveaway Been a few winners from the UK recently.
  7. Some In Car High-Def action from the Oregon Trail Rally 2012 Glad they've got "real" rally drivers back at SRT USA... all that using Mirra and Pastrana on the back of the x-games was a bit of a popularity stunt - no way those guys were in the same class as a lot of professional drivers. They seem to have found their niche in the x-box generation "Rallycross" series in any case.
  8. I don't think that really acts as a RAM air intake in the true sense. I haven't seen any engine pics where folk with an induction kit still have the snorkus - although I think i remember somebody saying they had cut a section of the snorkus out so it fitted around their induction intake. If you really want cold air - ye'd need to add a large diameter hose down into your wing do channel cold air up from their I reckon. Personally - I just run induction kit with no snorkus or hose.
  9. Some new pics up on Subaru USA FB page... Subaru GRC Gallery Facebook
  10. Hatches are taking over No "albeit just" about it... Ye have a Subaru WRX... SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
  11. I saw the folk driving the Leon's - they were warming up to drive a Ferrari I think. Now - with it being my own car, I definitely wasn't wanting to "rag" it. I discussed it with the instructor before we went out and he said it was my choice but said he wasn't going to tell me to thrash my car. I started with only map boost, but by end was up to [s#] full boost. Now - I'd need to look back the videos but I don't think I ever did more that 6 laps at a time - even by then I could feel my standard STi brakes going spongy. So the 6th lap was a slow drive in lap to let the turbo cool and brakes begin to cool down. Then sat in pit lane for a wee chat with engine off and car in 1st gear with handbrake off to allow brakes to cool without warping the discs. You are paying Knockhill for the time, you're not paying them wreck your car - so whenever you want to come in to let your vehicle take a rest - tell them. You pay them for the hour so how you spend it is basically up to you to a point. It's not a fixed set of 5, then 10 then 10 laps. No way my car could've handled 10 laps of performance driving. I was trying to be smooth - and the instructor said by the end I couldn't have been going much faster through the corners without screeching tyres and actually scrubbing off speed. Aim to keep it smooth, this will protect your brakes and tyres, and I reckon you'll find it much more enjoyable than a worrying screeching lap. I enjoyed getting performance out of my car - and not worrying that I was killing my pride and joy.
  12. Good luck in your search... I waited 10 years until I could afford the STi I wanted - you'll find as ye get near yer target car price, you'll think, 500 quid more and I could get one a wee bit better haha - but once you've been in an Impreza, and ye decide ye want one, there is very little that will stop ye!
  13. I used GoPro Cineform Studio that I found on the GoPro website under 'support'. GoPro Cineform Studio Linky You can use it to trim the start and end times of your videos and also change the quality and size. It's a bit cumbersome, you need to convert to a GoPro kind of intermediate file, then export to an mpeg-4. Prior to export, you can fiddle about with the screen shot and colour. It crashed a few times on me - but not sure because if that's cause I was trying to do other stuff on my computer during the conversion. It's still nae very quick but maybe quicker than windows movie maker.
  14. One of my laps fae Knockhill recorded on my GoPro Hero2 HD with suction mount. Takin it pretty easy but was still lots of fun.
  15. Got my rally pics back today - ye only get 3?!? Ach well, at least it's a memento... will maybe frame one with my runners up medal below and talk about how I coulda been a famous rally driver if it wasn't for <insert numerous excuses>.
  16. I'm gonna order a pulley cover now! I fitted the Pro-R radiator cover on MY08 STi - it's stainless and Pro-R have it reduced to 60 quid just now. Also upgraded to coolant header tank cap to a shiny anodised blue een, Zero Sports from Pro-R. dabiscuit - what colour is your car, interested to see a picture of the GT2 alloys on it, what colour are they? Thanks (and now sorry for thread hijack dabiscuit... Don - can you send me a photo of where your Tamioka AOS is T'd into behind the manifold? I struggling to know where it should join up with on the crank vent hose. Thanks.
  17. What's your reasons for swapping wheels away from the GT1's? I've been looking at the 18" GT1's v's 19" GT2's - and prefer the GT1's... but is there a problem I should know about?
  18. Would removing the airbox silencer have the same effect if it's just noise ye want? Wouldn't need a remap either I don't think if you were just removing a silencer. What model is your car? Link for youtube vid of intake silencer delete
  19. NEVER! Even the missus told me recently she likes the sound now! I find it a good way to tell how much fuel I'm using... louder weeesssssshhhh = more money to Mr Shell.
  20. I've got a Typhoon induction on my 08 STi and you hear a flutter under hard acceleration and a very loud pssssssht on lift off. However, this seems to only be audible inside the car - cos when the missus was videoing from trackside at Knockhill the other day all you could hear was exhaust and no flutter or pssssht.
  21. Apologies for the old thread resurrection Salsa-King... Couple of things - can you let me know where you got your centre caps and stickers for them - I lost one somewhere, possibly to do with bombing round Knockhill. I'm undecided between 18" GT1's and 19" GT2's. The GT2's are cheaper just now. Do you notice a difference with the 19" wheels?
  22. Nae point in fitting an induction kit without a remap - and if you do, ye run the risk of yer engine going pop. Part of the fun of fitting an induction kit and tuning is having yer car "tuned" for the upgrades :-) Drive under 3000rpm on yer way to yer map :-)
