About switch625

  1. I would give the number on the post after mine a call as its going to be quicker thank the route I took from reading the thread., Mine is a UK model but not sure what the year cut off is to be honest.. Give them a call. Hopefuly you can get yours sorted as well.
  2. I have searched the site the best I can and apologies if this is a duplicate of another post and has already been covered/addressed. But wanted to share if it would help anyone else. In the recent very cold (freezing) weather my 2002 WRX has on start up smelt very strongly of fuel. Checking with my limited knowledge found no issues under the bonnet or visible signs of fuel leaking. It was fine if the weather was in plus figures? Checked the Internet and found on a USA site that it appears there was a campaign run by Subaru to replace parts that were failing. I found my nearest dealer and contacted their service department, who knew all about it and had another model the same age in for repairs. I have had a call today from the dealer and Subaru UK have authorised the repair, fuel lines to replaced free of charge. From the info below its not affecting many but if anyone is getting the same issues and your scoob falls into the age bracket, give your local dealer a call. This is some information I have copied from the North American Subaru Owners Club. Not sure if the same thing applies for the UK but gives you an idea of the issue; 'Subaru has initiated a voluntary regional recall to replace specific engine fuel lines and hoses on approximately 5,724 2002 and 2003MY Impreza WRX models registered in 16 “cold weather” states located in NOAA Climate Zone 1. The affected states are: Alaska, Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, South Dakota, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Campaign code WVK-21 has been assigned to this regional recall. In extremely cold temperatures, a certain engine fuel line/hose may temporarily seep some fuel during initial cold engine start up. If this condition occurs, vehicle occupants may notice the smell of fuel. To correct this condition, affected vehicles will require replacement of the engine fuel delivery line and hose. A special repair parts kit will be available in the near future. The kit contains all parts needed to complete this repair. Additionally, Subaru will follow up in early CY 2010 with letters to owners that it will provide an extended 12 year/unlimited mileage warranty for this condition to owners of affected vehicles located in the remaining 34 states. General information concerning this Recall: • Campaign Bulletin WVK-21 will be posted on the Techinfo.Subaru.com website during the week of December 7, 2009. The Bulletin will contain additional information concerning identification of affected vehicles, repair and claim submission procedures. • Notification letters will be mailed to vehicle owners registered in the 16 affected states on or around December 16, 2009. • VIN lists will be sent to dealers located in the affected 16 states on or around December 14, 2009.'
  3. Big thanks to VickyK for relieving my ears of the sqeaking belts! Had to change one today as it was frayed, quickly checked the forum, found the answer here. Followed the simple instructions and now can buckle up in relative silence!
  4. Hi, can anyone recommend a decent book/CD rom to help me with basic repairs etc. seen a few on the net and eBay based on a CD and want to get a good one, don't seem to be that expensive from what I can see. Got to do replacement of a couple of seatbelts to get the car through its MOT and need a bit of guidance (not a mechanic at heart, now I think is the time to start learning a bit about the car to save a bit of cash on the garage bills) Thanks Simon
  5. Cool, not many tunnels around where I live, the odd railway bridge but that's it. Didn't think I would be on my own (sigh of relief).
  6. Wanted to share a good experience and to ask if anyone has had similar fun! Had reason to travel to Nottingham earlier this week and parked in a multi story when I was there (Union Road I believe). Being a big fan of the noise from the exhaust especially at low speeds, found the acoustics in this place amazing and for a short period the car sounded fantastic from my slow trundle around the place, it was almost a shame to find a free space.. Being from a very flat part of the world (Lincolnshire) wondered if any of you fellow drivers have found similar places where it's a pleasure to wind the windows down! Or is it just me being over excitable with the car being relatively new to me.
  7. Thanks Mark, Being more than a little green with the scoob someone explaining it to me in a way I can understand helps! I am just going on my prev experience, and that was with much smaller motors. So thanks for the help.
  8. Nice one, that's that sorted!! Cheers
  9. Is there a simple way of isolating the air on a bugeye? Is it as simple as removing the fuse? Just trying to save fuel and the air con comes on everytime you select the windscreen. I know what your thinking, just turn it off with the button when switching but I rarely use the air con anyway so off completely would be fantastic! Thanks folks Simon
  10. Tried sending you a message Myles, but getting some error. Will try a bit later in case you get one through first!
  11. Looking for the white-ish looking ones, same as on the UK300, sorted the indicators which look really nice but let down by the reflectors near the wing
  12. Quick question, does anyone know where you can get a set of clear/White reflectors/markers from at a reasonable price?
  13. I have been educated again, filled the tank up with higher octane for the first time since getting it, still looking for my nearest shell garage so I can give it what it really needs!
  14. Looking mighty fine, the best use of 2 days I can think of if that's the result!
  15. Well I have a bass sub and yes my car is stickered but that's not the point I was making. There are a 'small minority' amount of people that could give the majority of drivers a bad name, not everyone is a boy racer but I have been classed as that because some people have had a bad experience with one of the 'small' majority of bad drivers. My comments were not derogatory or meant to cause offence which I think was clear in the original post where I did say 'small minority'. Not all football fans want to cause trouble when travelling to matches abroad but there is a 'small minority' who love nothing more cause bad reputation and hassle to genuine fans.
