Wrx2003 Blob Eye, Under Tray Fastenings
davey l wrx replied to jil3697's topic in General Subaru Discussion
I got a load of them from eBay for pennies.... -
Well, seats out of my 54plate WRX went into a classic so I'd say yes. I think the rears are slightly different but they still fit. The fronts are standard 4 bolts and in

Noooo, not good hopefully it won't be to expensive. I'm dreading the day something goes wrong with mine... £1,500 for a new turbo is decidedly pricey!
-
Looking good, I detango'd the blob before we went mental and fitted some angel eyes lights!

6 1/2" will fit. Though you will need adaptors, Corsa III auto leads adaptors from Halfrauds do the job nicely.

New Member Here!..& Decision Time In Buying A Scooby:)
davey l wrx replied to neo gold's topic in Introduce Yourself
Welcome along. Tough choice.... The 2.5L has a bit of a rep of being delicate more so in the newer hatch variant. The 2.0 L is a bit more bulletproof (they still use the 2.0L in Japan). There was a debate about the GB 270 in the Scottish section over this last weekend. It's a WRX with a few Prodrive tweaks but they seem to be high priced for what is a WRX with a few extras (7,000+). If your happy to pay the £500ish tax for the 2.5L Hawk it's a tough choice between that and the Blob. It could come down to what feels best to you on a test drive. -
What Exhaust To Get?
davey l wrx replied to south west motorsport's topic in General Subaru Discussion
Like a lot of things one mans great sound is another mans pain in ears. My old blob (now the wenches car) has full magnex system fitted and it's really deep with a good burble. My hawk has a full Milltek system less of a burble (but equal length headers don't help) but it's quite a deep sound till you get it round the Rev range then it screams -

I've been thinking about this, here's what I came up with Pro's - Limited edition car, different embroidery on the seats, Prodrive goodies, 280ish BHP, low mileage Cons - 5 speed box, price, low milage, would you want to mod it! for the same money you can have an STI I've got low mileage in both as it's good as the car doesn't seem to have done many miles, but why! It could have been laid up for a while if the last owner couldn't afford to run it.... This can be good for a car or detrimental, suspension needs to work and engines and gearboxes need to be exercised or things go wrong. As soon as the term 'Limited Edition' is added to a car the price goes up..... whether it's warranted or not! -

New To Me 1999 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport 2.2 5 Speed
davey l wrx replied to Luminmiller's topic in Introduce Yourself
Welcome along nice motor. Emissions - my JDM Hawk STI should have 2 or 3 CATS fitted. It a 100cell sports CAT and still gets through the test (just with a bit of engine cleaner and a proper warm up). As long as the single CAT can clean things up enough to pass all is well. It all depends on how strict the emissions test is where you are! -

Wasn't it a sort of 'run out' special edition of the blob before the Hawk came in. From memory it's a WRX with STI seats with some nice embroidery on them. 265 ps instead of the std 225 for the blob WRX. It's still got the 5 speed box and no dccd. I can't see it being wrth a lot more than a std WRX, though the low mileage could be good and of course the 2.0 litre engine is cheaper on tax than the 2.5 so these are a bit more popular than hawks with buyers at the minute.. Allegedly. As for price.... http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C416626 That seems a lot for what it is! -
Sweet.... Sky+ will be in use

Attracting New/renewing Forum Members
davey l wrx replied to mctwistuk's topic in General Subaru Discussion
I've seen a thing in Facebook today from one of local guys up here who attends local events and shows and helps out. He's seriously thinking about not renewing and moving off to other forums. we've got ex-RO's asking for their entire profile to be deleted and little action apart from a few regular posters. There needs to be some communication About plans, ideas, anything would be nice to be honest. I've got most of this year planned for the region, not sure how many members we'll have left to attend events.... -

If a newby was looking for help they'd have to register anyway to ask.... And info is free in Scoobypedia. Can't remember how was when I first joined, but I was registered and asking questions before I bought my first scoob. -

A smessy as the Deer Al? -
No reason why it shouldn't be. Evo's have their plate to the side to allow the front mount to get enough air in. As long as the number plate is a legal size there shouldn't be an issue. Have you checked out the DVLA web site for number plate regulations? Or are you more worried about having a chunk of metal hanging off the front of the car... Either the DVLA site or an garage able to carry out an MOT should be able to advise on it.

That be what I meant. The gearbox and diff ratios need to match.

Yes The gearbox and diff's are matched

Potnetial New Lpg Scooby Owner - Need Help Please
davey l wrx replied to richyhill's topic in General Subaru Discussion
Any garage can service a car these days as long sa it's done in accordance with the manual. 40-50,000 for cam belt depending on year, model, etc. If it hasn't been done it's a good haggling point unless they do it for you, the bits are about £300 then there's the labour to do the job. I'm lucky my hawk is JDM car so it's got the 2.0l engine with twin scroll turbo, loads of power and fun and £250 a year to tax! -

I'll answer what i can. Welcome along Service intervals are usually 9,000 miles or 12 months. Having had a 3 series before my scoobs the costs are comparable. You can save by using a good local garage or specialist and avoiding the main dealers. Also buying the service items from places like Jap Car Parts not the main dealers also saves alot. Tyres can be changed in pairs - front or back as required or if your loaded you can change all 4 The bucket seats are nice and comfy and i've never had any issues in either a WRX or STI with their slightly different seats Looking at the first car nice looking hawk - though i am biased, one thing to take into account is the 2.5l engine meand approx £500 a year in road tax, the 2.0l is about £350. make sure it had the timing belt and tensioners changed at 40,000 miles and it has good service history. Like most cars if they're looked after problems can be few and far between. -
