  1. 'Let go' as in the gearbox can't take the power thats being put through it. It's like anything it's made within a tolerance. If the car is made with 220bhp the gearbox would be good for that + a certain percentage. I can't remeber where i saw it but 20% is ringing a bell for most car gearboxes, etc. So for a WRX with 220 bhp anything over 264bhp could cause issues. Like i've already said though some folks cruise around with 300+ bhp on a WRX gearbox with no issues, some have gone bang at 250bhp. It's luck of the draw, the STI has a mch stronger gearbox and an extra cog to play with
  2. If the WRX 5 speed box will take it. Unless the hawk WRX had a 6 speed but i'm not sure. The weak link on the WRX for tuning is the gearbox i do beleive. There are a few running around quite happily on 350+ bhp but they do have a tendancy to let go anywhere over 320 i was told
  3. There are still a few Hawks out there with the 2.0L donk fitted. The early ones were 2.0L and JDM cars as well though they do tend to cost a bit more than a UK spec car.
  4. Remember that the 2.5L is around £500 a year to tax while the 2.0L is half that. More money for Mods!
  5. need in what way.... tools, bushes?
  6. It's the old thing of 'it's worth what someone is willing to pay'. I've seen 'limited edition' blob eye imprezas for sale recently with 90,000+ miles on them priced higher than i paid for a blob WRX 5 years ago. Is it worth it, to me no but if the garage is advertising it for £7,500 they must be expecting someone to pay up for it.
  7. Cheers Peter. I'll get it into the calendar when I get on my laptop.
  8. Well the kennels booked for the pooch and the kids a away that weekend so should could go on her own if she wanted - she'd have 2 scoobs to choose from! We'll see what happens
  9. If I don't end up in India when the fling is on!
  10. Might have a few bottles off ye....
  11. Power steering fixed. No more clunking the replacement pump did the job nicely. Good job the roads were clogged after the garage did it so they couldn't test thrash the car.

  12. Welcome along, the more the merrier
  13. Yeah, one of our neighbours has a Shitoren DS4 and they put winter tryes on it. Last year they couldn't go anywherefor weeks and blamed everyone with 'sporty 4 wheel drives' for compacting the snow so they couldn't get out. Since they'd just bought the car i did ask wht they didn't get a 4 wheel drive as in winter we need one where we live and they just walked off mumbling.....
  14. I live in the sticks in an old U shaped barn that was converted to 6 houses. We've got 2 scoobs neither of which is quiet but then we don't drive them like our neighbours son does his fiesta down here... He does think it's a ford racing car and the red line is a destinantion not warning sign. Our immediate neighbour has a GB270 Wagon and a Porsche Carrera but the noisiest car down here is the Diesel Jeep one of the neighbours has..... the whole house vibrates when that things rolls by! You'll probabl find they complain like hell till there's an emergency and they come and ask for a lift to the hospital or for a pull out of the snow.
  15. Ah, I'm dreading the day I have major issues with my motor. Hopefully the JDM machine will run and run First thing I did when it arrived was have adjustable mounts, anti-roll bars and anti-lift kit fitted. Then the brakes were upgraded to stop the 400 ponies a bit quicker.
  16. Ok just so no one can say they didn't know here are the latest dates i have events we were looking at attending this year. As more are confirmed i'll add them to this thread These dates are for the local rounds of the Scottish Sprint and Hill Climb Champs. Last year we had a small stand at the 2 Boyndie dates and everyone who attended had a great time and some of us got sunburned. Fintray is a bit tighter on space as it's a closed road day so that could be a day out/meet rather than a club stand if anyone is up for it. Alford is in as a possible stand or day out. Closer the time we'll see what everyone fancies doing. At the July day at Boyndie (at the latest, i mwill probably email them) i'll see about a days/afternoons Karting - with some track time for the scoobs. Hopefully we'll be able to come to a nice arrangement and if possible make it a regular thing. May 24th/25th Fintray Hill Climb June 15th Rrallye Day - Keith July 5th/6th Boyndie Sprint July 13th Alford Sprint Aug 23rd/24th Fintray Hill Climb Sep 7th Grantown Motormania Sep 27th/28th Boyndie Sprint We are still waiting to have dates confirmed for - Buckie Classic Car Show - usually first show of the year
  17. Yeah I'm on AS though can't remember the last time I was on there. I seem to frequent this place more. Hopefully see you at a show or run at some point. There should be an update coming soon on what's planned for the year I'm just waiting on some dates to be confirmed and I'll update our calendar
  18. Welcome along... seem to have a few new mwmbers up here in the shire!
  19. Welcome along i'm the local RO for Aberdeen / Moray (joint post with ScoUK). We'll be having an update on soon on whats planned for the year for shows and days out at the races, etc. There should even be a few driveouts thrown in as well. You can only post in the for sale section if your a paid up member. Photo's are best uploaded using a link from photobucke there is a how to post in the FAQ section.
  20. I know hat you mean I have loads of emails from the local dealers and last time I looked they had some decent cars in and some them looked to be quite reasonably priced. Problem for them they're a Ford dealer as well and the Subaru's are always tucked away at the back. Even when I was after a new car they weren't that good. I drove up in the Blobeye with full rally graffix and they treat me like I'd never seen an Impreza before. First he denied there'd been any engine issues then he blamed it on 'boy racers' who tune them, apparently they aren't supposed to be tuned up! After that I left went home made a call and bought an import for £12,000 less than the dealer wanted for a ex-demonstrator that had been thrashed by lord knows how many people, though they were being nice knocking £3,000 off but if I wanted the boot with the big spoiler on that would be £1,000 more. Can't help but thi they'd sell more if they did a decent advertising campaign.... Mags like Evo and Top Gear love them but they never seem to use the reviews they get except in emails to folk who already have one.
  21. I did look but couldn't the figures for the UK for last year. That figure for Feb would probably be more than they sold here in the whole year. If the new model had the 2.0L engine I'd think about it but paying £500 a year tax isn't happening, it's bad enough with 2 Impreza's and a Shitroen to tax. If a decent diesel was an option I might think about that..... or a tuned diesel STI model would be good. BMW and Alpina can manage it or even Skoda with the Ocatvia VRS I'm sure Subaru could come up with a decent package. It would certainly help with the sales figures.
  22. I've just noticed that for Feburary Subaru US sold 34,909 up 24% at a time when car sales in the US are flat. Forrester sales have doubled and now account for 1/3 of all sales and 60% of buyers are new to Subaru. Now i know they've had some bad weather over there this winter and i'm sure Subaru will have played on that and the 4 wheel drive safety bit (like Audi do over here) and they still have a Rally Team in the US which as we know is good publicity. They also built a new factory over there to cut the import costs and make it an 'amercan product'. If they can sell that many in a month in America it's no wonder they can't be bothered with the UK anymore. With high exchange rates, dodgy engines and some dealers who deny there's ever been an issue i'm amazed they still have a footprint here in the UK. Discuss....
  23. A lot of the forums I'm on have seen traffic fall in the last year. I think it's just a sign of the times. Hopefully as show season kicks off things will pick up again as cars come out of hibernation
