If You Could Drive Anything Then What Would It Be?
davey l wrx replied to scottishtaffy's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Hmmm tough one. Yank tanks don't really interest me.... 8.5 litres of Detroit muscle and 420 bhp unless someone has played with it to make it move, but they're still shitebin the corners. I did almost buy an E90 M5 instead of the Litchfield but I figured if I ditched the 3 series cos it was shite in the snow the M5 would be worse. Dream machine would be any WRC Impreza Exotica - ferrari's don't do much for me Lambo's are better now Audi have shown them how to build a car that won't try to kill you. For me it'd be a either a Koennnnnnniggggggsseeggggg (copy write Top Gear) or a Zonda Revolution. Oh and I'm sure a Hennesy Venom would be a nice little car... If a bit pricey for Lotus with a big donk in the back! -
Another fun time at Boyndie in the sun. Grampian Kart Club open day with loads of action. Loads of Karts from the kids starter machines up the mad racers with gears. Bikes and some cars from the ADAC including a rally spec Scooby with gravel tyres which gave some nice sideways action for fun - "well, we are he to put on a show" was all we needed to hear. Hopefully next time we'll get to unleash our cars on the track. Might have to organise a karting day there.... With some car action for afters Good to see BrumJ again and ScottishTaffy when he finally got the car bolted back together!. Hopefully it'll all be sorted before Grantown next month

Ok this is now officially an event. There's a separate thread in events for it now! Please post in there if you're planning on attending!

Here's this weeks Camera locations and some information on the proposed Average Speed Camera scheme for the A9 (not that average speed cameras will fix the problems on that road). So here's the info for the Northern area A9 - Average Speed Cameras (including deployment w/c 12 August 2013) Northern Safety Camera Partnership attended the ‘Black Isle Show’ again this year to show the mobile camera unit and to discuss community concerns regarding speeding. Dougie Bennion, Partnership Manager said:- “The show provides us with a good community engagement opportunity. As usual, there was a high level of interest in the camera technology that is housed inside the mobile unit. A hot topic this year was the installation of average speed cameras at the A9. This was raised by a lot of people who visited our pitch. As part of the A9 dualling project an average speed camera system will be installed along the route. The SPECS system is an automatic digital camera system measuring the average speed of vehicles. It calculates a vehicle’s average speed between various points over a route. The system has a unique signing strategy informing drivers that they are entering an average speed control zone. Average speed cameras are already in operation on the A77 in Ayrshire.” For further information about the average speed camera system on the A77, and for information about the A9 dualling project visit: http://www.a77safetygroup.com http://www.transportscotland.gov.uk/a9dualling Additional information about Northern Safety Camera Partnership is available at http://www.nscp.co.uk Subject to operational exigencies, the Northern Safety Camera Partnership Mobile Camera Unit will be operating at the following locations during week commencing 12 August 2013:- Badenoch, Strathspey & Nairnshire A96 - Gollanfield, by Nairn A96 - East Auldearn Junction, by Nairn A9 - Near Dalwhinnie A9 - North of Dalwhinnie Junction A9 - Cuaich, by Dalwhinnie A86 Kingussie to Newtonmore Lochaber A82 - Near White Corries, Rannoch Moor, Lochaber A82 - Kingshouse Hotel, Glencoe A86 near to Spean Bridge Primary School Caithness and Sutherland A99 at Mid Clyth A99 - South of Wick at Hempriggs A9 - South of the Mound, by Golspie A949 Evelix Road, Dornoch Ross & Cromarty A834 - Strathpeffer Road, Dingwall Inverness A9 - Daviot, by Inverness A9 - Altnasleanach, by Inverness A82 - Invergarry Power Station A82 - Altsigh Youth Hostel, by Invermoriston B9006 - Cantraybruich, East of Sunnyside, Culloden Additional Deployments A9 Skiach junction to Broomfield, Ross-shire A9 between Latheron and Thurso All our camera sites have a proven history of collisions and evidence of speeding vehicles. Been there before.... When it cracked it opened up and was rubbing constantly - leading to a completely skimmed pad, boiled fluid and severe arse twitching moment as I struggled to stop!

Ok guys as this isn't an 'event' yet I thought I'd stick a thread in here to see if anyone was interested in this. The Aberdeen & District Motor Club - who I organised the Boyndie attendance through have a post up at the minute that goes like this - Grampian Kart Club, Boyndie, by Banff The Kart Club are holding their Open Day on Sunday 18th August 2013 and due to the tremendous support they provide us with at the Sprints, ADMC are looking for cars (with two seats) to provide a static display and passenger runs. Doors open at 1000hrs. Please get in touch if you can help us out. I've dropped them a line to see if they would welcome us along again and there's the chance of some track action which is why I did it. So if anyone fancies the chance to have a blat around the track at Boyndie on the 18th stick your names below and if it becomes an event i'll move it to the other place when the time comes. 1. How did that happen....... Taff!
-
Well I've got the pics onto the machine and loaded a few up to the bucket. So here's a few for starters.... In F1 you get tyre warmers.... In Scottish Spring & hillclimb you get Clingfilm. Though it would appear that not all the teams had the funding for this luxury! I'll see about up loading some more later/tomorrow!
-
that's the way Rich...... Bring the scoob count up to at least 1

Great day today Al. Got over 1000 pics to go through and filter out the dross before photo-bucket starts to do it's job. Good weather again today and good to see some new members turning up for events as well on both days. I had a chat with Ian who I arranged it all with and he seemed more than happy for us to attend again, i'll contact him later and thank him for the invite, etc. Had a few guys over for a chat, mainly older dudes wondering why the belts went all the way across the engine and not up and down. A quick lesson on the flat 4 later and all was understood, I think. Took till the last for of the day for us to get a spinner right in front of us got some nice of pictures of the whole sequence. It was a bit disappointing for there to be no scoobs taking part, some of the Evo's looked ok, especially the Tommi Makkinen. Looking forward to the next one, hopefully it'll rain so we can see more action of the spinning kind!
-
sweet, all sorted for the weekend then. Taff will be along at some point on Saturday afternoon to pick the kit up for Sunday and figure out where we're placed. I'll be there at 8:45-9:00 on Sunday. Forecast looks good so we should have nice weekend!
-
can't beat a bit of teamwork!
-
Works for me... will do!
-
It's a plan..... we shall see how it works out!
-
The last I heard we could have 3 cars the gazebo and the flags... might as well throw up the little one in front as well. Someone should be expecting us, Ian Miller was the guy I've been having email discussions with about it all. I might message Taff and see if he can pick the gear on Saturday night and i'll meet him there on Sunday, when i'll take it all home! The thread was in the general section to see if we had any interest and instead of starting a new thread in events I just left this one running to save the confusion of 2 threads running about the same thing
-
does it need NOS?
-
I've had an answer back from Ian at ADMC and the answer is we can turn up any time we want, the action starts at 9 and they'll have someone on site from Friday night. So feel free to head over on Friday and camp out in the gazebo then guys!
