  1. I know that you probably didnt mean too but with the above statement you sound like a real pompas *****, Ive run a marathan, yes it is hell on earth, but this was an achievenment of a different kind, nearly 1000 miles in three days, one end of the country to the other for something I really belive in, it still gives me goose bumps thinking about it, you obviously were not there "tonycott" have you thought what kind of message you are sending to the organisers that have spent months setting it up , and who are still working flat out to get things tied up, you really should think about what you say before you put pen to paper. Very un happy scooby owner. Simon.
  2. Thankyou both of you for your advice, I will start looking around now for a bonnet, grill and lights, very excited. Simon
  3. Thanks Mick for clearing that up, yes when I got the car 18 months ago I thought it was a bit high, its when you park it next to another one it really stands out like a sore thumb, I would change the wheels but it is an expense that I can do with out, I have a mate who has a body shop, I will get him to roll the arches then I will sort the springs, I have to get some new tyres soon so I will go with the 35's instead of the 40's that should help quite a bit, with the springs I presume it is better to buy shorter springs or will a garage just cut the ones that are on there now. Sorry one more question, I want to change the bonnet to the later model with the differnt louvres (97ish I think) is this a no no or would that be an ok thing to do, I just think that it looks better than the one that is on there at the moment, I would probably get a larger cooling vent as well and put the mesh in it that is featured in the last true grip mag, as well as putting it in the grill and behind the number plate as well, your thoughts would be gratefully recieved. Thanks Simon (scooby chef)
  4. Tried that, 17 plus stone still not helping, what did 555cub mean when he said fit a reduced size tyre, the 40 bit the 225 bit or the 18 bit, got me a bit confused. Simon
  5. Thanks for the info, I have 225/40/18s on mine (classic) it just sits so high is there a way of bringing the car down once I have had the arches done that won't cost me an arm and a leg. Simon
  6. Ok that will be good, I think you should have my email adress, just drop me a line nearer the time and we can set something up. Regards Simon
  7. Hi Jason, The no is 01342 324127, don't have the post code can get it tomorrow if you want, they say allow 40 mins to do it and it was £58 all in back and front, just tell them that I told you about it and they will look after you, Mine is the silver classic, let me know when you are coming over and I can meet you there for a Scooby chat if you want, any thing else you need to know just ask. Cheers, Simon (scooby chef)
  8. Have you got any pictures and what are the advantages of getting it done. Cheers Simon
  9. Hi, Just got my 4 wheel tracking done by East Grinsted Tyres, was recomended, it is a all singing all dancing machine with what looks like solar panels clipped to each wheel, you get a computer print out of what they have done and you can watch the tracking being adjusted on the computer, it cost me £58.00 and the car drives like a different car now. Let me know if you are interested and I will fish out the number, oh and really nice guys there, don't think they would try to rip you off, I thought that I needed new front tyres they said I have at least another 1000 miles on them yet, most gararges would have tried to sell me two new ones there and then. Simon (scoobychef)
  10. Ok you are going to write a list of pros and cons, well at the top of the cons you need to write SIDC website how I am going to miss this fantastic tool. and at the top of pros you can right er um er um (scratch your head a couple of times er um er um. Now stand back take a long look at what you have put, and this is before you even start thinking about the actual car. Enough said. Oh and my mate sold his Scooby and brought an EVO, this car never moves off his drive, he said it is nothing like the Scooby, not a drivers car, he misses the fact that knowbody every waves when he sees another EVO, and when I told him all about the Mcrae weekend he was sick as a pig, I drive past his house every day and give my Scooby a little blip on the go go juice just to remind him what he is missing, even his wife said she hates the Evo. So come on have a flick through the Scooby clinic magazine buy a classic and start again... Simon (scoobychef)
  11. Thanks for your coments, glad that I am not the only one to think like this.............
  12. Imy, Let us know what we can do to help you, we all appriciate what you guys have done for us, colins family and charity, you all should be put in the guiness book of records for your efforts alone, now I do not want to pee you off any more than you already sound Imy, I can assure you that is the last thing anyone wants to do, but I am sure that most people like myself are very passionate about the whole thing and they just want to get as much as they can from the whole weekend, I know when I tell people about the Mcrae Gathering, people who don't care one way or another about subaru's, they just can't belive it, I still and always will feel tremenously proud of what you and we did on that weekend, and because this is a one off I thing, people want ways weather it is a photo, a ltd edit print or a crertificate from Guiness book of records to remember it, I am probably really sad but I will create an area in my office for a Mcrae Gathering shrine. I really hope that I do not upset anybody by saying all this but it is how I feel and probably there is quite a few more like me out there too. As I said Imy anything I can do to help just let me know. Simon (scoobychef)
  13. I would love to be a subaru boff like you guys but unfourtunatly I am a Chef so that entitles me to be useless at engines, one thing I do know is that I have a 95 Classic import WRX and it has a baileys dump valve on it (thats was what I was told when I brought it) and it sounds just like the one on the P2, granted to get it to sound like that you have to push it a little bit but it sounds awsum, sorry guys I will let you get back to the interesting stuff now. Simon (Scooby Chef).
  14. Would it be possible for me to get another copy of the mag for my mate who did the gathering with me from start to finish, we are so proud to be in the mag, ok its the back of my head and he is sitting in the car, but that was not important the best bit was my beautiful wrx classic is looking great in the picture. Simon (scooby chef)
  15. Drew. Like every body else has said Thanks to you your family and every body else who stood on a bridge, that was every bridge from Lanark to Banberry but 3 yes 3 and they were probably cattle bridges, when I first saw the cars in the car park at Lanark it suddenly dawned on me what a fantastic weekend this was going to be, it bought a lump to my throat, and from that point on the hair on the back of my head was standing to attention, and I do not mind admitting that when I saw Jimmy Mcrae standind by that roundabout waving us on I got a tear in my eye and seeing al you fantasticx people supporting us all the way down you should be so proud you are FANTASTIC every last man woman and child. 940 brilliant miles of highs and lows. What next...you could not possibly top thet so life now seems a little bit boring.......................... Simon (scoobie Chef) ps Drew get a scooby you will not regret it.
  16. Hi Craigy, Good to see your car in the flesh at long last, I have just orderd the same steering wheel from Japan is it good, the guy that had my car before me changed the standard steering whell for a small dinner plate has taken quite a bit of the fun out of driving. Did you go all the way on the weekend, me and my best bud did the whole thing set out on the fri am did 930 miles over the weekend enjoyed every singl one of them, did not want it to end real downer on the mon am when i got up. Bloody brilliant well organised event. shame about the rubbish picture in the sun on monday, could not even get the whole of Colin's name in let alone the flag, sure they would have managed it if some bird had her bit out at the end ! Simon (Scoobie chef)
  17. Hi Guys, So excited about next weekend, Hotels booked car sorted (£1200 service & mot), Does any body know how many people are going up to Lanark on Friday we are leaving around 9am from west sussex, would love to join in with others if any one is going from our area, or are you all meeting somewhere on the way, would love to hear from you, had some fantastic stickers made one on each side of the bonnet at the top, will take some photo's and post them. Simon (scoobie chef)

  20. Good morning, I would imagine that I am not alone in wondering about the Colin McRae prodrive gathering, Has any body got any more info on it, ie the sticker, timmings, if and where people are going to meet to drive up to prodrive, how many will be going all the way to Lanark, just need to make sure I am not working that weekend. Thanks Simon. (ScoobieChef)
  21. Thanks you lot once again, I don't think that you would get this sort of help from many car clubs, I agree I think I will change the colour of my wheels to a matt black with maybe a chrome rim that looks very sexy, I will post some pictures when it is finished, what about tyres? I have been quoted Nearly £600 for 4 Pirelli's £130 each for a Goodyear F1 is it better to buy on line and who ? Thanks guys Simon (scoobiechef)
  22. Thanks FMJ, I will have a little tinker with it now I know it might not be too serious, I am glad you said a mate to help me cos if i asked my missus to do that she would shut the boot lid and not let me out, saying something like you love thet bloody car so much spend the night with it. Simon
  23. I was thinking of changing the colour of my wheels on my classic, I like the idea of black has anybody got a picture of a silver classic with black wheels, what do you think guys ?. Simon (scoobieChef)
  24. Hi all you experts out there, I have a 95 WRX classic import, when I accelerate and change gear About 4500- 5000 revs i get a nasty rattle / vibration from what seems to be the turbo any ideas before I take it to the doctors, (sounds expensive) Also a nice puddle has appeared in my spare wheel well, all the boot seal seems to be in tact. Thanks for your help Simon (scoobieChef)
  25. Two Things, 1.If my missus knew how much money I really spent on my Scoobie she would a flamming fit, you know the type of thing "the tyres dear oh yes they were about £35 each I think got a really good deal" (when the credit card statement comes Give it to the dog to chew up, oh no bad dog, I will have to order another one from the credit card company now dear. And 2. When she does eventually brave it to come in the car with me I think that the heated inside door handle is an excellent idea keeps her hands warm when we are driving on those cold days, oh yes and the imaginary foot brake in the passenger foot well. But I would not change her for the world (might take offers against a new 08 plate STI.) Simon.
