  2. I have just bitten the bullet and bought one of these bad boys for my 95 WRX import, front splitter next anybody know of any deals going on these, If I go for the STi bonnet do I have to change the head lights and grill as well. ebay £129+P&P Simon.
  3. Good morning, My engine is being rebuilt as we speak on my 95 WRX import, what are the pros and cons for having a front mounted Intercooler, and if they are a good idea which is the best make to buy, I look forward to your views on this Simon
  4. Hi sorry to hear your news, if you want a rough idea about cost, my 95 WRX import is in at the moment with very similiar problems, cam pulley came off trashed other pulleys, broke the crank oil sea, holed the radiator, £1400 so far, now found out that Head gasket has gone, that could be another £1300 if there is not too much work to do on the head. As for your warranty you do have 3 months by law even if they don't tell you, take it back dump it on the forecourt and tell them to ring you when its fixed................... Simon...
  5. I had a feeling that would be the more practical answer, is it a straight forward swap, is there anything I need to worry about, it will be done by a garage but I don't want any more surprises along the way. thanks Simon
  6. Hello fellow scooby owners, as the topic title says I am just about ready to swear very loudly !!!!! I had a problem about a month ago you may have read about it here, the crank pulley came off aparently due to it not being fixed on properlly by a previous owner, this in turn broke the crank oil seel trashed all three pulleys, punctured the radiator and did various other damage, I have now had the work done as well as a service MOT and two new tyres, I have a bill for £1500, when they went to get the car ready for me to pick up they noticed that the old radiator had a seam that had blown on it, the alarm bells were ringing so they did a pressure test and have now said that my haed gasket has gone................ what gentlemen and Ladies do I do now? can't afford another big bill, but have no choice if I want my car back on the road. I can get a series 4 Sti engine and gearbox from a fellow owner that is breaking his car, he had it profesionally rebuilt 15000 miles ago (mine is a WRX classic import) or I can pay to get the gaskets changed and pray that there is no other damage, what is your thought on this. Would really appreciate your feedback on this, if anybody else has any other advice I would be really grateful, I even thought about buying another one but what do you do with this one it is a really good car apart from the obvious. Simon (Scooby Chef)
  7. I have a Baileys on my 95 Classic WRX, anybody got any sound clips of others, I must admit I love mine but I always liked the sound of the DV's that go pppppppppppppppppppppppssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssttttttttttttt if you know what i mean.. Simon.
  8. Had some really good news, the Garage has had a closer look and has said that the bottom pulley has came off, breaking the oil seal on the cranksahaft, (they think this was due to it not being done up properly when it had a cambelt change before I got it) so they think this could be the exstent of the damage but won't know for sure untill they start stripping it down, so if any body can help I am going to need some new parts, Woodruff key, bottom gear/pulley on the cambelt drive, cambelt kit and crankshaft oil seel, any ideas on best place to get them and what should I expect to pay, thanks for your help once again. Simon
  9. Bad news, the engine has had it, the crank has gone, I have been told a new engine will cost £1700 + VAT then 18 hours labour, giving me a bill of around 3 big ones, any body out there got any ideas, idealy I want to keep the car, are there any write offs out there that have an engine to transplant, any advice would be greatfully recieved....................... one very sad scooby owner.
  10. Hi Fellow members, firstly must start off by saying I love my car but don't know an awful lot about them, I have a 95 WRX import 85000 on the clock, been a wonderful car, no problems fantastic to drive................. but today driving it I gave it a little push like you do sometimes and thought nothing more of it, a couple of minutes later I noticed that the power sterring had packed up, and then I noticed that it was making a knocking noise, so I stopped the car and opened the bonnett thinking that maybe a belt had broken, but all in tact, but they were not going round, looking at the engine the grooved wheel in the middle was not going around and it is very loose, looking under the car there is also a nice big oil puddle, I will get it recovered and taken to my garage tomorrow, any ideas guys, it looks and sounds really expensive.... now what I am looking for here is some good news ok....... thanks Simon
  11. Hi keith I will do tonight when I get home, just got the go ahead to use the website today, still getting used to it, i presume the local meets is easy to find, can't wait to meet you guys at south east scoobies. Regards Simon.
  12. Hi, I think that one thing that some people seem to forget is that to drive a car in this great country we call England you need one very important thing, A DRIVING LICENCE contrary to belief not a F...... TELEVISION LICENCE like in some countrys like India and Italy. Happy Driving Simon
  13. Ok guys you know there is only one way to sort this out, you are obviously both great rivals, maybe we should organise a run what you brung at Santa Pod, what do you think. Simon
  14. Thanks Fudge for all the info, Let us know when your in our neck of the woods, would love to look it over. Regards Simon.
  15. Hi Keith are you local to me then (East Grinstead) Did not know they had a meet there, I go up to pease pottage first Saturday of the month, would be good to go to one here. Simon.
  16. Good morning guys, I have just taken the time to look at the link which gives you the insight into skullfudge's P1, I have to say I have never seen it before (i have heard about it) WOW what a beautiful car, if you see this Skullfudge could you answer a few questions for me, how long has it taken you to get it to this standard and if you don't mind me asking how much has it all cost you,and lastly how does this compare to the gobstopper that we saw at the Mcrae Gathering, I have only got a 95 WRX Import, I look at it out of my window and I think I really love that car, then I look at all the cars that you guys show and I think to myself If only. A bit sad ar'nt I.
  17. Hi mate, still have not sorted the speedo yet, waiting for a while, car layed up on the drive untill I can afford to sort the exhaust, I am looking at a decat maybe you could give me a quote. Simon
  18. Hi Geoff, Are you doing this yourself ? just had mine done by Craig at Kent performance, uncovered allsorts of other problems, be prepared for a bigger bill, to be honest the clutch was the easy bit, that would have been around £300 fitted, but once the fly wheel was skimmed, replaced the half shaft and all the bearings and have the gear box stripped and rebuilt I was looking at a bill around £900, wow what a difference though, don't want to put a downer on it but really worth letting a mechanic look at it. Simon (scooby Chef)
  19. Thanks Kent performance is that you Craig ?
  20. If any of you guys out there are looking for spares for your scooby's and you fancy a drve over to Crawley West Sussex I have found the place for you, the company is called Japspeed, its excellent, all they do is buy up jap recks and strip them, it's a real aladin's cave, they have just about everything you could want for modding your car, the prices seem quite reasonable, the guys that work there are really helpful as well. I don't know if any of you have delt with them before, I was looking for the down pipe mine has a small hole in it, they had one there without a cat in it which was £180 he said it would give about another 35 bhp but just meant that I would have to repair the old one and stick it back on for the MOT. Happy New Year to you all. Simon (scooby Chef)
  21. Hi F B S, Just got my 95 WRX import back last week, took it to Kent Performance in Gillingham (craig), had a new clutch, flywheel skimmed and gearbox out stripped down and re built, (had problems with gears also like yourself) I needed all bearings changing and a new half shaft, total bill £20 shy of £900, nice just before Christmas, still have the car pay the price I say, must say what a difference to drive, can now launch her again without worrying about stopping to pick up half of the gearbox!! Sorry do not know any places in London. Simon (scooby chef)
  22. Thanks guys, this Sussex boy is going to give the experts in Kent a go.
  23. Thanks alot Spannaz, I have just cancelled tomorrow and I am now going over to Kent Performance next Thursday. He said that these clutch centres do not use new clutches they are all reconditioned. Simon (scooby Chef)
  24. My 95 Classic Import WRX is going in on Wednesday for a new clutch, the actual clutch is not too bad but the release bearing is getting noisey and it slips out of 1st and 2nd sometimes so I might as well get it all done while the engine is out, my question is, while they drop the engine out to do this on the 5.5 hour job is there anything I should ask them to do extra or that they should look out for, I knoiw that they should be experts (Mr Clutch) but you can't help worrying, like I had to tell them when they test drove it the mechanic just got out and turned the engine off without giving the turbo a chance to call down, your help would be gratefully excepted. Simon (scooby Chef)
  25. Tonycott, One question for you, did you in any shape or form (including donating to the charities) have anything to do with the Colin Mcrae weekend ? If the answer is no is this why you sound to me to be a little bit bitter about the whole thing, because I have read your entrys on the forum and I see what you have written but I do not understand why you should say what you do, almost to the point of wanting to upset people, something for you to think about, every single bridge apart from 3 from Scotland to banbury had people on them, holding banners, cheering, clapping, waving, this on its own was enough to reduce Vicky (5th gear) to tears, these people were there for hours in the wind and rain, do you think they were thinking I don't know why we are standing here they are only going to park on an air field.....................We are not bragging we are proud, proud of what Colin Achieved in his very short life, what he did for Subaru and in turn what Subaru has done for us. Simon
