  1. theres agra outside macduff too. did a good job of rebuilding/skimming a head after a dropped valve []. pricey though. We had to take block up to elgin to get bored though. Dont know if its the same company.
  2. love the arches. hope you get more time off to drive her now.
  3. thats fit i was thinking too. perhaps thats why lambda is on the way oot. edit: would have been tested under no load though.[:$] of course emission test would be carried out under strict idle as well [] []
  4. sorry but never heard such a load of *****. have ran and continue too, a lot of high mileage(150K) flat 4s and never had any problems what so ever. do you think this happens in any garage, dealership or otherwise? the difference is nowt either way tbh. its just anal
  5. same thing frank. see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowoff_valve take it you mean vent to air or recirculating. If u want whoosh noises u want a vent to air. gives u pops from the exhaust as well, cause injectors add enough petrol for air thats no longer there. believe this can thin out the engine oil over time though. but if u want whoosh go for it. Or u could be taking about difference between dump valve and turbo bypass valve. beaten to it [:$]
  6. saw a thread on scoobynet about this. if u want to do it for your own mind then do it. I just fill up new filter a couple of times letting it settle then add oil through filler. thinking about it a bit more what they are suggesting is to turn over engine without firing it. probably more wearing in itself than just doing the usual setup.
  7. yip its under the altenator. or if u wanted u could just remove the electrical connector. Btw this aint about priming the oil by any chance. Have heard this elsewhere and i wouldnt bother with it IMO.
  8. if your ecu takes four plugs to connect it im sure it will. The map currently on it will give u less power as its for a very early uk turbo running a td05. However it does have the socket to accept a chip in it. It came like this from the factory and hasnt been added on later. If u put the chip in the socket and cut a small resistor, the map on the board is no longer used but the one on your chip will be. As long as the chip you have is suitable for your car then there should be no problems. not looking for much if u wanted it. hope this helps am sure someone will add later if i am wrong. Pretty sure its right though as i did a bit of digging when i swapped it out for a z4 ecu (jap wrx).
  9. its a v7 but if you put a chip in and cut a resistor it by passes original map anyway. then keep your original untouched. just a thought like as its lying about. either that or get yours soldered locally. []
  10. also ee qualified here. where are u based? got old 4 pin ecu with socket already in it if thats any use!
  11. ^^^lol but ma tractor has been bored out and my scooby wisnae [:S]
  12. this also happened to me. i fited leightweight jobby. i just though the shaft looked a bit short for a pulley. but i canny quite remember.
  13. bleed off valve to up the boost as well as methanol if you want to chance it [8-)]
  14. just to clarify, is it just me or does the crank look a bitty short to fit a crank pulley too bearing in mind the timing cover has to go in between as well. the timing crank pulley will have to be replaced. is this posted in technical? surprised at lack of response. i would do a bodge to get the final life out of exisiting engine [:$]
  15. yip, yip, yip, oh and the midjies as well. looking nice and shinny though []
  16. just noticed mate. gutted for you. my scooby rip last tuesday [:'(]. sorry no back box made it. surprised at insurance quotes i have gotten though (in a nice way) as only my car damaged and no third party.
  17. good thing you walked away. cars can be replaced. all the best with insurance and that.
  18. just what sorted it out. had bled before and there was no change. new spring wasnt genuine. perhaps fork pivot/realease bearing was a wee bity stiff then.
  19. had this very occasionally before and added the spring which had disappeared. never happened again since.
  20. i give a [N] to fedrals. gone for uniroyal rainsport given how its usually raining, very reasonably priced as well. yet to test them out fully as only got them on hogmany following sidewall puncture. most folk give f1 or toyo t1r a good rating.
  21. ^^^ as said. I did try depressurising mine by taking fuel lines off in engine bay and running untill it stopped. didnae make much difference tbh. just have a few rags handy as a wee bit of petrol does like to escape at the beginning. edit load of pash: took off electrical feed to pump and ran till stopped, still spilled some though.
  22. good stuff, have seen these before but thought they were too cheap to be of any use. just got new 1155s. had dealings with the seller before and never any probs .
