  1. I know out of my region here.. Any of you guys have any good reliable contacts for a garage that would do a head gasket replacement on a hawkeeye STi around southampton area? got someone who's been quoted £1,600 for the work done at dealer (Sparshatts) and wondering if anyone knew of any better options in the area? Cheers!
  2. 18" wheels usually have 40 profile tyres and 17"'s 45.. SO yeah asking for trouble from the start off the classic they shoudl be 5x100
  3. Ha a young 'loon' ask me the other day if I had any stickers going spare as he still has a few spaced left on hsi car unstickered! I simply told him yes but he aint getting them.. Rip that crap off your car and just get the dents and scrapes repaired! it'll look a million times better! At least then you 'may' actually start to give a crap about the way you drive it! (He's only recently got his licence back in the last 12 months...
  4. Ouch!!! "RallyCross driver Toomas "Topi" Heikkinen broke his left ankle and suffered abdominal injuries when his car crashed into the metal jump ramp on the RallyCross course during a practice run Friday." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmBysnF2vX8
  5. yeah attachment has been a constant work in progress. Thinking couple small thin plastic hooks on the top to just hook over the existing plate, that way it shouldn't mark anything..
  6. I made up a handful of SIDC plates a couple years back for use at show stands. Not everyone likes the idea, but I think it tidies up the stand a little bit and looks more professional.. Someone once described it to me as looking like a car showroom.. Now is that a good thing or a bad thing
  7. Not official subaru but NoiseKiller do a range of sound deadening mats for impreza's http://www.noisekiller.co.uk/
  8. Must have missed that memo.. Didn't see it stated anywhere until after they were being delivered and the comments started coming out.. Ho hum.. We can't always read every post on here.. yet I had been looking out for info regarding the rebrand stuff.. Mustave slipped past when I wasn't looking..
  9. That's the one I'm thinking of Really sweet machine that! *drool*
  10. See the club shop http://www.sidc.co.uk/sidc-shop?page=shop.browse&category_id=7 P.s. Welcome back
  11. Yep, all the blue ones were bought up by chavs Besides, my bug is in the process of getting a minor face-lift to make it a wee bit more agressive again yet still using standard Subaru parts. Just the way it's meant to be .. Also needs a damn good polish Sweet! now all we need is a hawkeye and a saloon and we have a full set! Can't remember who it is but there'a at least one red saloon on here
  12. My thoughts exactly Yep! Full member of the red club and the bugeye club... Both seem quite rare in the Impreza world
  13. ya see.. feedback does work.. it's not all bad Cheers Stu!

    Tyres

Interesting timing for this topic. Running Toyo T1-R's on a set of 18" and have done for a coupel years now, wearing well. But as been mentioned by many they are a little squishy, mainly due to soft sidewalls but pump up the PSI a little and it's less of a problem.. Also quite like the idea they squeal before they hit their limit to remind you your beign a bit of a tit.. A lot of people don't like but never mind. But when they are warmed up they do get pretty sticky! and very good in the wet! Interesting part, is, for hte past week I've been runing standard 17's with a set of worn Bridgestone RE050's and dunno how much of it is down to the warm weather but the car sits a lot better on teh bridgestones, feels more direct and give more stable grip. I was taking it easy at first because I haden't driven on them in a coupel years but after a few days I'd have to admit they feel better than the larger toyos! At least in the dry.. Which now has me with a bit of a gamble.. I was looking to replace the T1-r's with the new Toyo T1-Sports once they wear out, which are the replacement for the now discontinued T1-R's and have been redesigned from the ground up with new compound, stiffer sidewalls and asymetric pattern.. Still tempted by their price range but also leaning towards giving Pirelli's a try at a similar sort of price. THe high spec Michelen's and Goodyears I probably can't stretch to.
  15. Sorry to rub salty stuff in the wound but quick look on eBay shows sub £20 for the pins & springs http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=impreza+caliper+pins&_sacat=See-All-Categories ^^^ Not Stainless steel! @lister100 - Keep us posted with what you come up with
  16. Should point out, the reason multi-car deals don't like my impreza is because of the modifications.. Or at least the performance incrase. Soem seem ok with the mods, but over 10% power increase and it's nops sorry! Standard or near standard car and multi-car is definately worth a punt!
  17. I'd be interested if your willing to make a few up! Even if you made a big batch of them, should be easy to sell them on eBay I reckon! .. Long shot, but this sort of thing 'may' also help aid the sticky piston problem as the pads woudl be able to move smoother alogn the pins. Certainly worth a shot
  18. Yeah had trouble int eh past with these.. try use a small file or little strip of sadpaper to try rub them down and give them a squirt of lube. Use a file to take down the burred /damaged tip that you now hav on them. ANd gently but firmly with a hammer and punch tap them back and forth even with no movement they will 'eventually' come free.. The standard ones are just steel so corrode to buggery. I noticed recently that brembo's use stainless steel ones I believe which make the job MUCH easier! Anyone know anywhere that can supply stainless pins?
  19. 200 odd is V Cheap! Don't; knock that! I'm £575 at the moment did have it down to £560 I think, but it crept up last year. Interestingly, while looking for insurance on another car (multi-car deals wont touch the Impreza) Discovered somethign interesting.. NCD after 2-3 years means little extra discount, many of us won't be surprised by that.. But what seems to maek a BIG difference is how long your've owned the car. Saying I just bought the car, quotes were about 400-500, but if say I owned the car for 5 years or more that quickly dropped to 200-300! No other changes to teh quote! Just the length of time I'd 'claimed' to own the car! each yaear up to abotu 8 years of claimed ownership the quote ntoicably took steps down in cost! Tried this with a few online quotes and got similar results! Makes insuring a newly purchased car quite tricky.. Or at least reason enough to talk them down in price if replacing a car which was already insured with them I hope...
  20. Great pics! and fantastic weather Used to live not to far from there..
  21. +1 that is a great read! Forgot about that one.. http://www.whiteline.com.au/suspension_parts_resources.php?category=Articles
  22. Yeah same up here.. Fuel seems to have dropped by about 5p sometime of hte past couple of weeks! Still cost me over £75
  23. There's no right or wrong geometry setup on the cars. I always give a slight sigh when peopel asked for specific configuration for their set-up.. Yes off the shelf set-up witll give youa good balance. But it's not a tailored set-up.. This thread is good for getting ideas what to expect, but ideally you want to take a look ar your driving style and see what areas you'd like to improove on teh car. Woudl want it to feel softer or harder on turn in, how well does it feel under breakign heavy acceleartion. And how comfortable do you feel behidnt eh wheel while cornering and on turn in. With a decent garage who understand these things you can get the car tailored to your own personal driving style and requirements. This can make a BIG difference for you specificially and gives you much more confidence behind the wheel. I quite like a slightly oversteery car in order to get a good initial bite on turn in, and it gives me something to play with mid corner (ooh err!), but that's my own personal requirement. Not to everyones taste but it's the direction I've gone with mine in terms of upgrades and settings, and so far I like it! Not sure the tyres would agree But yeah, so long as the wheels aren't pointing in dubious directions, it's mostly down to the driver getting the most out of it.. On the road the driver makes a the biggest difference, on a track car it's probably about 50/50 because your running 100% on the limit 100% of the time. Public roads aren't that reliable
  24. According to just about every delivery company apart froM Royal Mail I live offshore on an island somewhere.. FFS!
