heh maybe Back in the day SIDC did manage to pull most of the SCottish base from SCoobyNet onto SIDC Having not been involved with .net or been to any meets I can't say what they do so well or any differently to SIDC. But Baz was possibly onto somethign about the 'age' thing. If the .net group is made up of 'younger' owners it will naturally attract attract the same group of people. To kinda justify this approach, recent reports have come out about how Subaru drivers are the safest drivers on teh road, it's a fact today that subaru drivers make the least insurance claims! and drivers who have grown up with subaru's are now in their 30's and 40's.. And have other responsibilities in life other than hooning about in a scooby! But we still love to drive them like anyone else.. That's maybe part of what we have here.. Dare I say it, maybe SIDC is a bit 'Old skool' these days. who knows.. I wouldn't necessarily say so myself. The Impreza has grown up a little (although not if youve seen the 2014 WRX ) But maybe the next generation and finding the 'younger' base on .net more appealing somehow?

I wasn't on the 2007 run was just before I bought my scoob! IIRC it Inspired us to come up with the BBQ run in 2008? Where we brought 3 main regions of the club to a mid point meet (North, South & East). Which went on in future years to become what is now the 3day Highland Fling! The re-run of 2007 is a great idea! Or maybe 2008 BBQ Run but incorporating Higgy Bridge.. But I will be honest a true 2007 re-run is probably the best way to celebrate! I did have a electronic copy of the 2007 route guide somewhere but cant find it off hand

Gone over the bridge many times, since that run (wasn't on the 2007 run was just before I got hte scoob) and TBH it's difficult not to go airborne! unless you slow right down. Ok maybe not quite as high as Higgy did it Always remember this infamous pic whenever I'm down that way

One thing to remember is that in the days where SIDC in scotland was huge, it was branded as Scottish Scoobies! All the runs we did, the branding we had for the club was all Scottish Scoobies! The .net site came on the scene stating they were a club for scottish scoobies since it was calimed there wasn't anything like it already, which anyone interested in scoobies would easily have come across Scottish Scoobies brand which SIDC built up!.. ... Anyway, point is the 'Scottish Scoobies' name alone may well be attracing people. When .net started using it SIDC stopped using it when it was near it's peak!. So the promotion we did on scottish scoobies was infact snapped up by scootish scoobies dot net and we basically let them take it. Because we werent happy with the confusions which there would ultimately be with two clubs promoting the same name. SIDC stepped back from it and have tried on several occasions to connect the tie in relations between the two clubs ever since, not so much as merge them into one, maybe that would happen down the line who knows... But as negotions tended to start off well, .net club always seem to close the doors on the idea. They don't seem to want to be associated with SIDC yet took our Scottish Scoobies brand which SIDC created and built up. I sigend up on .net when it was first created simply because I'm interested in what different clubs are doign (not just scooby clubs), but never quite got into it, many of the discussion on teh forums didn't interest me and I've seen no reason why it's any better for me than SIDC.. I like SIDC it's the club which is for subaru owners, strong tie in's with Subaru with IM Group, subaru dealers up and down the country. It is the drivers club that when you bought a new subaru, the dealer reccomended you join for added benefits of subaru ownership! This was even before hte days of forums and websites. SIDC is the primary subaru club in the UK.

Woke up to the news this morning.. Very sad to hear Simon (Higgy) was killed in the accident. Great character and ambassador for the club. That Bugeye he built was something else.. I've never seen an Impreza chassis looks like it's been pushed to the limit as much as that thing was on launch! Shame he hadent been in touch in the forums of late but Higgy you will be remembered Thoughts are with your family and friends..

PPP on WRX removed the 3rd cat (after downpipe) Change of backbox on that system shouldnt require a remap. having a remap would potentially sweeten up the car a little but shouldnt affect things too much just swapping out the cat back system. The PPP map still has quite a bit of tolerence in it so can handle a small exhaust change like that without too much trouble

Sadly no scoobs on track Used to be a few in previous years but none this time round Although Rich (Cullenmin) is looking liek he's building up to it in the future! Will try get some more piccies from saturday uploaded later...

Yeah wa a good day yesterday! Will try sort through photos in the next day or so but ScoobyDoom has some cracker there! I'm sure the bug wasn't reflecting that much on the day! Not a huge amount of general public footfall, but had a few lengthy chats with competitors who came over for a blether to see what the club was all about! Friendly bunch and achieved what we set-out to do at this event which was increase awareness of the club Good to see newcomer Mike (Cabb32) along yesterday! Liking that SL Wagon Hope you can keep and eye on the forums for future events, particularly Highland Fling next year if you can make it! (I 'may' be forced to miss next years event unless the date changes ) To be fair we could probably of had up to 6 cars without being told off too much I reckon Certainly 4 or 5. But can be a long-ish day if the weather isn't so good. But was fantastic weather yesterday Bit too much wind meant we didn't put he sides on the gazebo! That on a day like yesterday, the boyndie track could be a good candidate for a SIDC event sometime in the future perhaps tie in with other major clubs (Mitsu/Ford) and get a fun day out for all on track. Maybe even friendly kart race during the day between clubs? (thinking out loud again.. bad move!) Will have to investigate prices sometime then see about feasibility. Good Luck for today guys!!

Cool! Heads up for anyone looking for something to do this sunday (other than F1 ) Thinking of heading through to SpeedFest event at Alford on sunday. Wont be in any 'official' SIDC capacity just going as spectator.

yeah there are a few red hawks aroudn but the factory paint was the lighter red.. Similarly with the Blobs. the Red Mica was only available for a few years from 2000 to 2002 IIRC Some late classics were available in red mica and was mainly used on the bugs (and only WRX or lower spec, red wasn't available on STi's).. Still a rare colour though. A much brighter and bolder red came in for Blobs which continued onto the hawks/hatchs/saloon. Sounds like the Red Mica Hawk is a aftermarket paint job as to the best of my knowledge Subaru didn't do them in that colour

Cheers! but roof is a mess and paint on the side skirts have been flaking off for a few years. Front end has accumulated a few more chips than before as well (although chips not surprising on a 12y/o car) need to get some paint ordered up and sort it all out.. if not this year then next

I've heard many stories of dealers dragging their heels when the hawkeye struts issue comes up. Most do finally get resolved after going straight to Subaru UK /IM Group and explaining the situation to them directly, then let them contact the dealer that's doing the work. Not necessarily a quick fix but it has gotten the situation resolved in the cases I've heard of.
