  1. Not liking that too much.. Agree silver/grey is the better colour.. Hawkeye looks great in white.. this doesnt... BTW - Are they now going for the record for the most amount of bends in an exhaust?
  2. Hi guys/gals! Just and quick update on the McRae tribute stickers that have been on the go since the tragic events of Saturday 15th September. As some of you may be aware I've been supplying the rally car style stickers to many people on here and others across the net. So far we've managed to raise £249 for the JervisWood Trust already! Which is a great figure from just one style of sticker! You can still order the stickers the old fashioned way following the instructions in this thread clicky. However an agreement has recently been made with the http://www.imprezarally.com/mcrae/ site, who also help sell the signature style stickers, to also begin selling the design I've been selling! This is great news as it means it gives people a wider choice of sticker from the same website which is promoted all over the net. So if you haven’t got any McRae Tribute stickers yet and are interested in giving something to the JervisWood Trust charities then head over to the http://www.imprezarally.com/mcrae/ website and place and order! A certain amount of each order will go directly to the JervisWood Trust, the charity group set-up by the McRae family for donations. Thanks,
  3. Heya, You can change the colour of the bulbs but you may not get the desired effect. I've fitted red led's behind the cluster for the moment but the LCD displays I've kept green. Reason being is that the natural colour for the display is green and the red bulbs don’t illuminate the display properly. Also the bulbs that are in teh dash are basically white ones with a green rubber cover to gain some green colour. But to confuse things more that's not where the green comes from. The plastic "Tracks" which light from the bulbs travels through to illuminate the dash is green So no mater what colour of bulb you use it will also go through a green filter. For example I had a few blue bulbs left over from my previous car and the dash came out a greeny blue colour! Best bet is to get some super bright side angle LED bulbs (Ones with a flat top to distribute the light sideways if that makes sense) but apparently to do it properly you need to pull apart the dash and sand off the green filter ont eh tracks to make them clear. I'm on the look out for a STi dash for my WRX so I can get the red background, failing that find a 2nd hand dash which I can mod. But probably still wont be able to change the LCD colour Hope this helps.. MOre importantly I hope someone comes along with a better solution (Edited: Forgot to mention with the green filter on the green filter on the tracks not only will the colour be affected slightly (But brighter bulbs should override most of the filter) but also the overal brightness will be less. By dash is darker than standard but can still make it out when dark)
  4. Hi Iain, Just to make sure.. You talking about the catching up for the Elgin meet? If so thats due next month 25th Nov so it's a weekend.. At least that's what I think was meant... I was confused at first too... didn't read the month first time round..
  5. Ummm cant remember if I seen you or not, did see a couple scoobies last week that were new to me.. cant think where though.. I think there's 3 red mica bugeye WRX's kicking around the Elgin area.. One has STi wing on the back (new Elgin somewhere). But if it had a CMRally sticker on the rear windows that'd been me.. Also the #plate is a giveaway. I've also got prodrive wing hanging off the back as of last weekend so much easier to spot!, . o O (As long as it doesn't atrract the wrong type of attention ) Shell have two cards at the moment.. The Drivers reward card, red and yellow one But they also have a credit card, mostly blue, on the go with also gives cashback on fuel and any other purchases (Damn sounds like I'm on commision .. but I'm not) P.s. Welcome to the SIDC!!!
  6. Grr! Got more or less a full tank at the mo.. Never hit one of these days yet .. BTW - Anyone else applied for one of those Shell/CitiBank cards? 3% cashback on shell fuel purchases!! (6% rebate for the first 60 days) Applied for one the other day! http://www.shell.com/home/Framework?siteId...ds_bj_0107.html
  7. *drool*
  8. Thanks... Started looking at all this at the beginning of the year.. Considered getting a true Godlike AndyF remap for the car.. But after hearding about the openecu project I decided to give it a try myself... Still MUCH to learn.......
  9. Just discovered there was a seperate room for scottish scoobies... So that's where your all hiding
  10. ECU > USB cable will set you back just over £100 Generally get them from the US company tactrix http://www.tactrix.com/product_info.php?products_id=35 ^^^ this is where i got mine from earlier in the year..
  11. None of which were me.. But I did see a few on the go yesterday Couple white classics and blue blobeye STi "**** GUY". I hear there's a RB320 running around the north too somewhere... "Smiler AS" has a hawkeye blue Wagon WRX...
  12. Strange.. it was there a couple weeks ago when I looked for an updated version.. Never mind, I've just uploaded it here for you: http://www.scouk.net/ecuexplorerv3025.exe
  13. Couldn't agree more! that's the PPP upgrades finsihed too now I've got the proper newage PPP backbox thanks to Westra! 3rd cat delete pipe from Spaceman IIRC, turbo silicone pipes from eBay and ECU Remaps courtesy of the OpenECU project! (PPP upgrade installed DIY'ily including ECU map for approx £300-£350!) Just need to do more tests and refine the ECU map (without blowing anything) and then move onto the Onboard PC project DIY rocks!
  14. Infact, just finished switching bits around on the rear end.. Removed the SIDC sticker in preference for a reflective prodrive logo.. But fear not! the SIDC sticker has been replaced with the website address on the back window, now that you can see that part of the window with the high spoiler Once I get one of those Mcrae Signature stickers in I'm going to redo the top part of the rear window and leave it more or less plain with the McRae signature on the top right hand side...
  15. Thanks for the comments guys n' gals I have been thinking long and hard as to whether to change the headlights or not. The standard ones dont look that bad on that colour IMHO. Not a fan of th emorettes, seems too common nowadays, eye-lids is an option but I don't like the look of them.. But I would like to see how it would look with a set of STi/JDM lights on it! But they aren't easy to get a hold of Won't be cheap either...
  16. Well couldn't have come at a better time. With 50,000 miles on the clock exactly Finally managed to get all the body parts on the car this weekend. Taken months of trial and error stuff with spray painting and the like. But learnt a heck of a lot and now realise why it's so expensive to get a paint shop to do the work! It's really not as easy as just slapping some paint code matched paint on a panel and make it shiney! It's takes a LOT of patience. I admit, close up it's not 100% perfect but it will get better with time and polish But bloomin good for a home made job! I've seen worse jobs done by professional paint shops so I'm happy! Cost about £60 (+ the body parts obviously..) So (to finally get to the point) what's been done? Well here's how it looked more or less when I first got the car nearly a year ago: And here's how it's more or less looked for the past several months: Finally here's how the car looks today with the front splitter/colour coded side skirts and Prodrive Rear wing attached. Car probably wont change from now on.. I'm happy with the way it looks... Big thanks to "Irish Al" for the side skirts and "Smiler AS" for the Prodrive Rear wing... Front splitter came from HT Autos on eBay.. Which has been rebuilt once after running over it a few months back during a SIDC meet. Resprayed red, and bolted on properly along with some silicone sealant so it "shouldn't" come off any time soon......
  17. Gawd knows! There's certainly demand for it! I've even considerd starting an online petition to get prodrive to make it as a McRae car... Instead of calling it the P2 Quite simply call it "The McRae".. Works for me.. Sadly the My08, doesn't..
  18. I'd say keep it an mod! there's not that much difference between the WRX and the GB270 Except the prodrive goodies. Performance wise you beat that! Not to mention handling & braking. Looks? WEll just get yersel a Prodrive Rear wing and some tinted windows (if you havent already). Excuse for for not paying attention to the forums but what "running issues" are you having with your car at the mo? I thought AndyF gave it a good going over just the other week?
  19. And if there's no space in the front... Make it mid-engined
  20. yeah red is by far the best colour!!! ... No I shouldnt bring that up again... IMHO it should be worth more for rarity value.. shame it doesn't work like that..
  21. I'd of liked to be involved in one fo the bigger runs (managed to make the McRae one but that was special). Mainly because of the hassle and cost to drive from Elgin down to Perth (or wherever) then back up to highlands for the run and back to perth and back home again. May sound cheeky but I did consider asking for the meeting points along the way and coming down from the north to meet 1/2 way or something then come back up. Two separate runs that meet up on the glorious Scottish highlands! But as I say it may be conceived cheeky just to turn up to a couple meeting places and not take part in the full run. As for the main topic here .I don’t really want to comment, as I'd consider myself for the slow>medium category.. I love driving especially on good challenging Scottish roads, but I'm not a fan of the really high speed stuff I don’t see it necessary and at excessive speeds where any slight problem and you'd be in serious trouble!!. That doesn't really do anything for me I'm afraid (Un-Surprisingly this comes from an Young Driver rep for the IAM). This may well put a black mark against me for my attitude but the point is, I accept some drivers like to really shift the car, and TBH I respect those that do! Getting the best of the Impreza! Magnificent machine! My feeling is just that the open public roads aren’t appropriate for it.. Get me a safe open space where I can play and I'll happily drive at the limit of the car and my ability! What is needed is something like an old airfield... {edited for WAY too many typos}
  22. Funny thing is I'm sitting here watching videos of my brother playing on a small coned out track (looks like a carpark TBH) in a cateram thinking that's a load of fun! And Why isn't there anything like that in north scotland!!!!!
  23. Now I like the sound of that! [flame_suit_on]Fastest car is not really anything more than throwing money at it. But when it comes down to it, the car is only as good as the person driving it![/flame_suit_off] Anyone fancy trying to organise a SIDC Best Driver 2007 event?
  24. ... Or maybe.. "Here's the all new Subaru Impreza does my bum look big in this!" Sorry.. [/clarkson_mode_off]
  25. How about "BLUR eye" as in out of "focus" or should that be "BLEUGH"
