Probably #1 Dunno about the scooby as I'm still using standard panel filter but with resonator removed. But on my old Volvo I stuck one of those cone filters on there for a laugh.. Sounded great and nocked a second of the 0-60 time (Not difficult really) But I did notice the filter got really hot at time.. THink mostly due to the way the air passes through the fibres on the filter, the air will heat up as it meets friction so possibly normal.. But yeah as long as the Intercooler is doing it's job and the Overall intake air temps are not gettign too high, probably safe.. Note engine wise the RB is no different to the STi so chances are it's either down to the individual ecu remmaps thei've had or the driver Standard STi vs RB.. the RB woudl have it with the PPP fitted as standard.

Ahh sorry mis-read a previous post which i thought read the hawk didn't have resonator in the center section God knows How I picked that up.. So... on a PPP for hawkeye they removed the cat (from the cat pipe) and stuck a baby resonator in there, so a hawkeye PPP exhaust has 2 resonators? Standard one on the center section and the new one on the de-cat pipe?
-
Ahh ok.. It's possible that was a change in the hawkeye configuration that I wasn't aware of.. MAde the center pipe straigh through aand stuck the silencer/resonator on the end of the cat-pipe.. Interesting.. thanks
-
That sounds spot on.. FOr info, on hawkeye's and possibly later blobs (not sure on that one) the individual lengths of the down-pipe and cat pipe parts are different, and are not indepandandly swappable with earlier models but together they measure the same.. Also some aftermarket downpipes tend to replace both the down-pipe and cat-pipe with a single pipe.. The pic above shows the cat pipe.. The eBay link is the cat-back system, backbox& centerpipe with silencer on the center section. Although not entirely convinced the pic above is showing a 'standard' prodrive one.. Looks modified.. I've not seen a PPP pipe with that extra box on it. Ones I've seen (and one I have fitted to my car) are just straight through Prodrive Link.. Only time I've seen silencers/boxes that sort of dumpy shape in on a pipe is on a custom made exhaust. Could be wrong through.. So could have been modified aith a silencer or baby cat at owners request Note: the PPP only changed the backbox and cat pipe.. THe center section with the silencer (the bit in-between the backbox and cat-pipe) remained the same. Simple question for jebus is, what did you put on the car to replace the pipes you have taken off? I suspect it's the backbox and center pipe as shown on the eBay listing. Center pipe measures about the same or slightly longer length as the backbox, cat or de-cat pipe is much sorter, sounds strange that it's a straight throguh pipe and made of regular steel...

CooL! Nice to see Mitsu's and Soobies together Nice Pics too! Didn't get much of that when we blew through there last year Will keep an eye out for the next one P.s. Spot the Solberg Pig on the rear wing (don't tell me that was there before and I just didn't spot it)
-
Nice idea.. Might be up for something like this.. Will keep an eye out.. BTW - Is fish-tailling at 150mph in the middle of town optional or a requirement?
-
So it is.. Even more special! Think I've seen more white hawkeye's than blobs! And not too many of those around...

I went down the Prodrive route with my WRX and although noticable improvement over standard springs the higher tension was just eating the dampers. Got BC coilovers last year and absolutely brilliant! But setting up the dampers for personal preference is key, YOu can't just slap them on and forget about it.. good idea to find the sweet spots on them.. I ran the car into work driving the same way on teh same bit of road making small adjustments to the settings each day.. Even a coupel clicks of can change the way the car handles.. I seem to have a totally different setting to every one else havign it quite soft at the front and stiff at the rear. Perhaps that just suits my driving, but also partly a combination of other parts on the car.. Either way, the car turns in much sharper that it's ever done and stays much more stuck that it used to! I started off having the dampers set about the same front and rear to others who've had them fitted and found the car understeered like an absolute pig compared to how it runs now! One of the disadvantags on havign somethign adjustable.. YOu need to adjust it correctly, and there's no off the shelf right or wrong answer to what the right settings are. Each car/driver will be different Anyway, back on topic, That's a really tasty looking hawkeye Blobeye

Hi, Thanks or picking up on this thread.. Does make sense, however I believe it would be more useful to show the paint code on the pull down list, rather than usign trial and error selecting different shades of colour to find the right one. As a test, can you tell me which colour I would select on the list of colours for Red Mica / Sedona Rad, paint code 94H on a 2001 Subaru Impreza.. I went through the different options for red but 94H never showed up.. I know that is the colour code as I've used it several times to get paint for my car and it's been spot on everytime.. I know later on in the order process you can specify the exact colour code, but I found goign throw the selection process tiem consuming and faulty when I know the specific code for my car. Hope that doesn't sound to critical.. It's meant to be feeedback to help you imrpoove the site and perhaps reduce problems with incorrectly selected colours Thanks,

That's awesome! Well done to everyone who got involved for this! Spot on!

I suggested stuffed goats to the committee a year or so ago for sale as mascots.. THat didn't get much support either... can't think why

Glyn, Great work on the day. Thrown in the deep end and pulled it off in style! Nice one for stepping up to the commentary booth, although maybe get less pro-hatch material next time Yeah, we noticed... Great work by all involved this year, SIDC Stand was great improvement over previous years.. Well done for the guys who came up the day before and stayed overnight in Alford I know it's said everyear, but hopefully get some more people along next year to help support the event! I'll be there lending a hand hopefully. Definately left a lasting impression from some of the visitors (SEAT anyone ) who have promised to come back next year with a few more cars! ... Just wish the day was a bit longer, seemed to pass all too quickly Although probably best since the rain came in by force at the end. No SIDC parade lapping this year
-
Cool! Just got a copy infront of me Did anyone tip them off about the event or did they find it themselves?
-
D'oh! Fair doo's I remember it failed on something...

Ok, have to eat my words.. Got a de-resonated mid pipe from them last week.. Was getting fitted between a PPP backbox and PPP decat cat pipe, so should be a perfect fit. Bolt holes don't quite line up properly and discovered pretty quickly the exhaust was leaking at both ends Took it off, gave everythign a bloody good cleanup, plenty firegum on the ends and tightened the sucker up despite slightly angled bolts at the front , seems to be workign fine.. I know it sounds minor but did expect a perfect fit with standard parts..
-
Sounds like it's possibly the cat. Particularly if it's still the origonal one.. only other thing I've come across is even a slight hole/blow on the exhaust can screw up the emissions test.. Mine was a bit dodgy one year but a quick splatter of exhaust paste got it through As for the heat thing.. My scoob was dropped off at the MOT station last year after only been runnign for about 10 mins.. Just scraped the emission test.. this year, no mechanical changes to the car but runnign for about 30 mins before the test and the emissions were near as dammit 0%.. .. Was worried that maybe the remaining cat in the downpipe should be starting to go but fromt he looks of things there's nout wrong with it

Definately gonna be back marshalling next year, can get some nice shots from opposite side of the track Linky to Picasa Photos

Nice pics Some more from me.. https://picasaweb.google.com/scouk.net/SIDCAlford2011?authuser=0&feat=directlink The team having a short Ice-Cream break Flamin seats! - Didn't catch the flames on camera but basically the car came off the track parked up and smoke started bellowing out from the engine bay! Looks like an electrical fault of some sort, possible shorted out wires on hot engine, It was bloody hot near the car! Was driven away at the end of the day, hopefully it's ok and lives for another day could have been a whole lot worse! Luckily fire extinguishers on site to help! Game on! Go Go Go! Blobeye finding it really slippy on the bends: Ummm.. Focus? Hatch showing off it's off-road capabilities (a.k.a. skipping the track after getting outj of control) Back on road with a bang! Club Chairman jumping out of the way in the background! The response! Didn't want to flood this thread with too many pics but for plenty more photos and more shots of the hatch goign across the grass! Here's my photos from the day: https://picasaweb.google.com/scouk.net/SIDCAlford2011?authuser=0&feat=directlink

Getting behind the wheel of the scoob tomorrow for the first time in nearly 3 months. Feel like a kid on christmas eve at the moment!

Difficult to say about the first wax/polish.. Just had a more detailed look at their website and I can clearly see how you managed to get the colour wrong. Why don't they list the actual paint codes on their site? I know mine is 94H as I've bought paint for it in the past, but on their site there's loads of possible reds on there and it coudl be any of them.. Doesn't even list the proper coliur names in my case it's either Red Mica or Sedona Red(US), neither of which are listed What I did notice is that hey have a 3rd step with a fine polish for finsihing. I didn't have that step with my kit but usually did that anyway.. But I noticed that I needed to be very careful when using polish afterwards. I machine polished mine a couple weeks after applying and it just took all the repair work out But using a fine/mild polish by hand should be safe. The paint will still be quite soft for a month or two and fairly easy to remove.. I guess ideally much like a respray you shoudl leave it a few weeks before applying wax on top... Applyign wax effectivly seals in teh paint which sounds good but the new paint needs time to cure and harden properly and that wont happen properly if it's sealed over.. If you need it done for a show/event or something I guess try do a thin layer of wax if you have to but maybe go back over it afterwar the event with polish to try and remove the thin layer of wax again to give the paint a chance... Ideally, try to avoid waxing and keep the repaired area clean, that will give the paint the best chance of remainign permanent...

Havent used the chipex pack but have used DrColourChip pack int eh past. Same sort of thign but mien came fromt eh USA and therefore more expensive because there was no one in the UK doing it at the time.. Thought I had some before and after pics but can't find them.. But Definately worthwhile and very cost effective against resprays. If you just have stonechip and perhaps a nice bit of gravelrash ont eh front end (ooh err!) then it can cover that up almost perfectly.. If your really looking for the marks you and still pick thenm out if your very close up but even standign one step back it's difficult to spot the repair! Takes a bit of patience to get a proper finish, it's not simply slap it on an that's it.. Maybe devote an afternoon to it depending on the sort of marks you need to cover up.. Or if there's LOTS of gravel rash then maybe try and span it over a day or two.. I wasn't expecting much from the kit, but after I used it the first time I was sold! Even just for basic chip repair it's good but can really tidy up othe front end of a car without much cost Highly reccomended!
