Remembering Richard - Prodrive, Banbury
scouk replied to michael_jenkins's topic in South East England
Thought that was a nice touch in a jokey friendly sort of way Any more pics of the day? My bro was there with his RB320 but it'll probably take years before I see any photos from him.. Still havent seen any of his McRae Gathering ones.. -
That is tragic news!! He was a great competitor in the Scottish Rally Championship!

That autosmart tardis stuff is basically white spirit in a fancy container ..I've used it in the past and works well Just remember to give the surface a good wash afterwards! Dont want that stuff near the paint any more than it needs to be! Other daft suggestion if your at a wits end is to use a paint scraper to gently run over hte surface (ideally after heating with hairdryer) and try and slicethe majority of it off.. This methid works quite well on glass which is much harder and smoother.. Note using this method would make it VERY easy to damage the paint!! It's merely a suestion, I wont be held responsible for any damage incurred

OOh thanks for the reminder.. Forgot about winter tyres this year.. Got Toyo T1-R's on at the mo. Like you say great in summe rand wet roads but will me more lethal than the bridgestones I had before and there was very little turn in grip with them I had Toyo Snowprox's on my list to checkout this year.. CAmskill doing 215x17x45 for £115 each (although currently out of stock) Avons are more the £90 MARK.. Ive heard a few bad reports about vredestein quadtrac's in the past with regards to grip levels, but that may just be people expecting them to grip like summer tyres on a warm dry day.. Need to tidy up a set of alloys first though..

scouk replied to wrxmania's topic in Scottish Scoobies
:P Not to metnion £400+ quid a year on road tax.. Sod that! I'll stick with my £245/year Bugeye! It's sooo not worth that sort of money..They got away with the RB320 at that sort of price but it was a special edition.. -

I'm not one for supporting mods on special editions but I do like the extra stickers on the front.. It's the only angle (apart from the roof) which doesn't have an tango sticker on it.. And suits the car IMHO.. Also if you come up behind someone, it's pretty damn clear what he car is and not just a run of hte mill WRX -

A few owners have started fitting black grills which improove it quite a bit IMHO! Here's a pic of my bro's one #39.. Wonder how long it takes to spot the car Probably never been as clean as it was 3 years ago -

My 01 UK Bug WRX says 97 on the filler cap..
-
Perhaps but it's was clearly unsutable to be driving at the sorts of speeds required in a built up area I know it probably wont happen but the officers should loose their jobs IMHO and the drive have a few extra points added to his licence.. Hardly a suitable way for the law enforcers to promote road safety!

Happy birthday to Cullenmin and Davey L WRX Today! Many happy returns guys!

DC woudl be a good one.. Although woudln't they need a quare shaped helmet (sorry DC ) I thought the origonal may have been Jonathan Palmer at one point.. Ok he's maybe getting on a bit but he's the same sort of level as Ben Collins, has his own racing driving school and stuff.. Actually what's DHill up to these days..
-
How about Rubens Barrichello runnign him over in an F1 car
-
Strange.. there was a report on the news on saturday sayign that the stig had been axed from top gear and gave out his name.. Yet further reports said at hte start of hte week about BBC taking the publishers to a private court to stop the release of hte identidy.. Well Duh!! Not to mention it's been known for a while now it was Ben Collins... Just perhaps not 100% confirmed.. Anyway.. what colour do you think the next stig will be? Pink with boobies?

Eep! missed this post! Happy 'Belated' Birthday min'

Bitz would get my vote.. (although not used them myself.. yet...) Glenburgie are closer though, just turn off before Forres on the A96 (West). They still do servicing and mechanical stuff as far as I know and the odd bit of spraying. But when i was up seeing him at the start of the year he mentioned he's reducing the parts side of it as he's struggling to shift stuff..

Can't think of any black hawkeye sports on here, but I think there's one on ".net"
-
Shhhh! True.. But you cant tell that from the outside.... unless it moving At least it's not all show and no go.. the tiny TD04 Turbo still lets me get up to 60+ quicker than a standard STi. and surpisingly tends out accelerate classic JDM WRX's ... Now where'd I put that launch control sofware Actually, the rear lights are aftermarket, more blobeye style, and the rear diffuser isn't Subaru Design... Oh well..... Ok.. From the front and side... . . .
-
Cheers guys! For anyone interested (and isn't aware), the splitter is infact Subaru's own optional bugeye part and not aftermarket Much like the STi/JDM headlights, theey are difficult to get a hold of, but managed to pick up one from japperformanceparts for some cheapness. Rubbed down, resprayed and voila! So that car at the moment is pretty much all standard subaru, STi and prodrive optional parts (except the coilovers, and the wheels but you can get prodrives with similar design ) Yeah really like your wagon.. inspiration for the stripe clearly came from there, but I went overboard and pulled the black up tot he top grille.. Looked pretty good and certainly different, but didn't suit the car the same way it suits yours So a change of plan was required.

Nice one! I just received a set of Mintex 1144's for my WRX 4 pots, so looking forward to the upgrade.. Currently got blackdiamond pads on the front which have only lasted 2 years, had a set of allegedly "uprated standard ones" before which were nuked in 12 months, wasn't impressed!!!.. The BlackDiamonds do the job, but not overly impressed with them TBH, they are better than standard, but they seem to have a very narrow optimal operating temperature. At a certain point they work really well! But couple braking manouvres later and they fade quite a bit.. No bad from cold though.. I've heard the the Mintex 1155's are really bad for sqeaul, and the 1144's less so.. But will report back with findings once fitted and tested.. Apparently dont squeal when up to temp I've got Ferodo DS2500's on the rear which were a massive improovement over standard, but couldn't qutie bring myself to pay twice as much as the mintex for the fronts this time round...
-
Great choice of rear wing! Really suits the bugs.. With similar cosmetics changes to what I did with mine, you've definately got good taste ... even if I do say so myself Yeah the view from the rear view is nicer than looking through a open box, but with the height of it it's slap bang in teh line of sight for cars behind.. Not really a problen unles the car behind has blue flashy lights behidn the grille that you don't see

Obviously depends on what you set it to.. THe full hard setting (oor err!!) Is pretty damn harsh of cut up damaged roads, but it corners flat as a pancake! On full soft setting, it feels more floaty than soft.. It's not as harsh as the prodrive setup was, but it's not quite soft it's more marshmallowey. Think if I set too long at full soft I'd end up getting car sick for the first time in my life.. So definately wide scope for adjustment and personal preference.. Many peopel seem to stick around the mid range, but as mine now a weekend car mostly It may get set a little harder with the rear that extra touch stiffer
