  1. Robinson's Hire Drive in falkirk have always been cheap. Not sure where your mate is based though as it might be a bit far to come and collect it. That said, it's round the corner from mine so could leave the scoob there! 5t.
  2. All of those are good. TBH Grieves in Falkirk aren't bad, much cheaper than other dealer prices i've seen banded about, plus you get 10% off for SIDC membership. Example 60k service £350+ VAT - discount is what i was quoted, seen some on scoobynet etc saying they'd been quoted £600+ by their dealers!!! I think 30k service is a easy/cheap one though so shouldn't be a lot! Check the book to see what it actually needs but you can't go wrong with Hypertech. 5t.
  3. Very smart. Didn't really get to say hi last night but cracking looking motors. 5t.
  4. I would totally agree. Walking into a crowd of people who all know each other is tricky, and people do seperate off into wee groups, after all, it is impossible to speak to everyone at once! I had a similar experience at my first meet but stuck the brass neckl on and just said hello, since then i've had lots of help off people and hopefully, given a fair bit back! Perhaps we shoul;d be looking to welcome the new face a bit better but an event this size is possibly not the best place to have done it. I couldn't make it up although i wanted to and it simply sounds as though AWD were vixctims of their own success with this one. The fact that so many weent should say something abou the usual standard of service to be expected (and i've never used them- least not yet!) 5t.
  5. that's an agressive looking motor! welcome to the club. 5t.
  6. i got mine having recently renewed my membership - haven't managed to get my new memebership card etc through yet though! 5t.
  7. I've got the simota and i don't hear any induction noise over the exhaust heh. Not noticed any DV noise either but you can hear the turbo spool up sometimes. I got it because it was cheap otherwise i don't think they actually make any difference. The standard item is meant to be good for 350bhp and without a map you probably won't get any benefit at all. In fact when i had my car mapped Andy F said not to bother as it wouldn't make any difference and advised me to spend the cash on improved intercooler hoses instead. Didn't see the need to question the man with the fastest Scooby in the UK!! 5t.
  8. nonsense man! Nearly had the legs out yesterday bit of draft never hurt anyone. 5t.
  9. I had the fast road settings without any mods and it has made the steering more positive. I don't think it is night and day different but then i'm still on the winter tyres so that might have somethign to do with it! Certainly value for money though and on a sweeping bend you do know much more of what the car is doing. The most noticable time is when you are really trying to scoot along and maintain a good pace. 5t.
  10. Welcome to come have a view of mine... i think i'm going shaft drive (ooer) 5t.
  11. Stunning motro. If they don't snap your arm off there is something wrong with them. Did you fit the brakes yourself? 5t
  12. Let us know how you get on Paul. Need to do new discs and pads on mine too (although looking like getting a full set of refurbed calipers ala Kit and you sound pretty similar to me on the patience front! 5t.
  13. you'd think but personally i can't see any other reason for it. Tiff described it several times as 'soft' 5t.
  14. I think Tiff was like a lot of other people, quite simply he wants a rally bred car that isn't particularly comfy, is a bit noisy and eats tarmac. What Subaru have done is make a ver capable car but softened the edges a little to try and give it wider appeal. Tiff wasn't in any doubt about the ability, he just didn't think it was quite the cutting edge tool he was expecying. Anyone not familiar with Subaru (i.e. the people they want to buy it) will probably find it absolutely amazing. 5t.
  15. Echo the others. Not bee to too many events but you and Rosie have stood out as a good laugh. All the best 5t.
  16. ey up! sure i've seen that car about. welcome to the board. 5t.
  17. Grand - so as it is a WRX the tyres on the now are 215 should i be fitting 225? I'm guessing not but best to check! 5t.
  18. That was kind of wher ei was coming form. Apparently the thicker walls are good for the car. Camskill have T1-S 215/45/R17 for £62 a corner though so seems like a real bargain. My 'summer wheels' are down in yorkshire though because we don't have a garage and the mrs didn't think they should be part of the front room furniture! However we know a man with a garage so fitting ins't an issue. Seems like T1-R is winning out at the moment though. 5t.
  19. Cheers chaps. The summer wheels are desperately in need of new tyres. the winter wheels are on at the moment, Nokian WR but the Bridgestones that were on for summer wore quite quick so looking for a good quality replacement. As i drive every day i need a good wearing tyre that is good in the wet and importantly takes a backroad blast in its stride so kwikfit plastic specials are right out! 5t.
  20. I know tyres are discussed a lot but i'm looking for a full set of 4 now so really want to get the right ones! I am pretty sure i remember Frank C saying he prefered the T1S to the T1R - is that the general opinion? (if so great as the T1S is much cheaper!) cheers, 5t.
  21. Thinking of getting some lifters for the bonnet as last weekend's bulb changes had me dancing around the bonnet support quite a bit. Anyone know how they fit? Not totally keen on drilling holes in me motor!! cheers, 5t.
