  1. External one, not a thing, didn't really know what i could do with that. Seen some saloons with it in the middle of the back window looks good. unfortunately between the high level brake light and the rear wiper on the wagon that wasn't possible so it is in the side window without a partner on the other side! 5t.
  2. My exhaust was £150 secondhand + £40 to fit ay Hypertech. As a SS system rust/rot wasn't an issue (did have to go to Newcastle for it though) with the SIDC group buy on the remap and £90 for the Y pipe etc (plus some helpful free fitting from another member) Can be done on a budget if needed! 5t.
  3. welcome! slippery slope the modding! 5t.
  4. Really depends what you want to go for. I use the car everyday and do 50 miles a day so didn't want it too loud or mad power that might affect reliability. Went for second hand scoobyworld system with deresonated centre section but left up and down cats in place. Gt an intercooler Y pipe on Andy's recommendation and then had the map done. 273bhp and even more torque, better than an sti of the same year (standard) with the benefit of a dual map so i can knock the boost back on motorways. All in £750 Welcome btw! 5t
  5. Interested in both. Sure the mrs will be too. what is involved at the shopping stage? is it spending what has been raised or getting out there and splashing the cash? 5t.
  6. tyretraders are also good. It depends who the dealer has links with. Personally i was wondering about the Falken 452's on the Scooby. Very well regarded on my last two cars (FTO and Supra) but don't see much about them on Scoobies. £59 a corner from tyre traders too (£69 from MyTyres and £61 from Camskill) 5t.
  7. Cheers chap. We're on the same lines - i was thinking blu tak! 5t.
  8. Doddle. did mine in Halford's car park and put in the Forester pocket rather than gauges. Mine is 03 WRX but i assume most are similar. Remove the cup holder and pull the trim off. Happy to help if you want. 5t.
  9. Anyone know what this rattle sounds like? I've got a buzzing from the steering wheel/front of cabin when going over certain road surfaces. Getting louder and annoying (actually got louder once the wheel had been off for inspection) Had the struts done but refused to refund the inspection fee (£40) what is the opinion on paying this? Obviously i'd rather not be out of pocket when there is an obvious fault and also a valid claim. Failing that, anyone know how to get the wheel off so i can check it myself? 5t.
  10. 300 is pretty standard for me post re-map. Before it was a rare thing but 340 is the best i've actually had from it. Spirited driving? 280 or so but no less. Car sits in traffic a lot as my daily driver too and still returns 28mpg on some occasions! Trip at 242 with over a 1/4 tank left (80 miles or so)
  11. Hmmm Nokian or Snowprox at the moment then chaps. Informative debate thank you! 5t.
  12. Thanks David. Always used Camskill in the past but finding a fitter has been tricky! Blackcircles can be either really good or not so fab i've found so was wondering if anyone has had anything done locally. I am going to ask at Grieve's and probably send her to Hypertech for alignment too! 5t.
  13. Does anyone know the best place to get some decent winter or all weather tyres fitted around the central belt? needs two fronts but been advised that sports tyres like GSD3's don't work that well when it gets cold and you are better off with something that can take a lower temperature. Seen a few places online that will deliver but does anyone know a good place to get them fitted (preferably with SIDC discount heh) and any idea on a good tyre from said fitter? advice appreciated, 5t.
  14. I'd love to only be doing 50 miles a month! Mine does 40 a day at least!! At least you know that when you do go out you'll be having a giraffe. Hang on, you know you want to! 5t.
  15. London eh? At least they must be serious about her. Where did the sale come from? At least you have another one sitting there ready though chap. 5t.
  16. SIDC works!!!! Had a PM from the manager, called him back and booked in for 17th Nov with an apology for not calling back. Result! wOOt! Does anyone know if you get the inspection costs back since the claim is valid?? cheers, 5t.
  17. Cheers chaps. Not called Subaru UK as yet but will give that one a try. I need to jump up and down on a saturday morning unfortunately as i leave for work before they open and come back when they are shut! Just a shame as in the past the service has been great. 5t.
  18. Hmph! They (Grieve) charged me for inspecting the strut mounts - reading the book it sounds like you can get that back if the claim is valid - would need to check that though. 5t. Edited as Grieve's are now sorting my warrenty issue thanks to the help of the forum!
  19. Thread title edited as they saw this and have apologised for the service although the complaint was valid as scoobyseller has acknowledged. well done for posting though and addressign the problem out lined below. worth leaving up as an example of what SIDC can help sort! 5t. Bit sad really, having previously been in praise of the service from there i think it is only fair to share the bad with the good. Went in almost a month ago for them to assess the rear struts under my proven warrenty. Paid for the inspection time and was promised a call back the next day once the paperwork had gone through as they do need doing. A week went by so i called in with the warrenty card (which i didn't have with me at the time) so they could take a copy and get the policy number in case there was an issue. A sales guy took the copy and put it on the desk with a note to call me first thing on monday. Still no call. I called back a week later and was promised (again) they'd be back to me first thing monday - shock horror still no call so it looks like i need to ring and chase them again. As i need to take time off work to get the car fixed and my warrenty period is running out i need this sorted asap so they are going to be getting some well narcked phone calls very soon if things don't improve. As i said, i've praised them in the past where it has been due but the customer service on this one has been nothing short of appauling. Even if the problem is with Subaru they could call and say something! Can i take my invoice for the inspection to another dealer and get it sorted there? Not keen on paying twice for that. 5t.
  20. I got mine done the other week too. The torque seemed to be the main thing that made the difference. more the car i expected - at least until this morning. Not really driven it a lot since the map and this morning the negine management light came on. Car sounds fine and isn't doing anything funny so i'm hoping it is something temporary. I don't want to go to a garage and have them flash the ecu and wipe the map! any ideas? 5t. oh and Andy reckoned about 270 bhp, more torque and 1.3 bar boost at 2700rpm
  21. I think the point is fuzzy that the Dastek 'mapping' isn't mapping. A piggyback chip is just that, same as the official PPP upgrade from Subaru, it isn't mapped to your car, it is the best guess at how it will perform with the various PPP elements on it but no two cars are alike, you'll know that from rolling road sessions at Dastek, too similar cars will make different power etc. Andy actually does a unique map for the car and how your motor actually drives, something a piggyback chip can never do. 5t.
  22. That was me chap! Note the much bigger exhaust? Sounds and goes a lot better now. Had to bring the car in as i had to collect the mrs from the train station. Don't normally do it as traffic getting out is a nightmare. 5t.
  23. This is the view off the top of Stelvio. We came from Italy so this is heading back down the other side. You can see the road snaking below! the top is basically a set of shops selling t-shirts etc and weirdly what appears to be a chinese restaurant. From Switzerland you just follow Grindlewald pass into Italy. You can see the road in the distance. This is my mate on the Trophy he had at the time. Boiled the brake fluid coming down Stelvio. Would recommend it to anyone. 5t
  24. I've been over Stelvio on a bike, brilliant. All the way through the feature i was saying "stelvio!" They may have closed the road though, when i did it the place was packed and the bends are very very tight. That said there are coaches and all sorts on the road so if you meet one of those you have to back up! The run from Interlaken to Bormio was ace too. 5t.
