  1. Congrats to you both mate. Personally as a 22 year old I think all parents are mad but hey no doubt some woman will change my mind on that some day.
  2. Have done, Lorna is off today though. Been told she will call me tomorrow but I will probably call in anyway. There ain't the most reliable at getting back in touch with you. Mum had today off due to the elections (teacher) so she gave me a lift to work today. Going to use the car as little as possible till its fixed but the tech at s&s said it would be ok till they change it, just have no power. I really don't have much luck with this damn car.
  3. Ok so my car has gone and had a hissy fit just to be nice to me as always. Was driving away from work when all of a sudden the engine died, had no power and steering went heavy. The CEL light hinting that something had just gone quite wrong. Car restarted ok but it is now in limp home mode. Checked the CEL code using the SECS unit and it is 23 so I limped to a mates near by (as his house is closer than mine) and checked the code. Its MAF Failure. Fun. Got the car back at mine now so its safe at least. Few things I'd like to know. Is is safe to drive the car from Kilmarnock to Ayr to have it fixed or should i bring the MAF to the car? Is the MAF covered by my warrentte or if not what am i looking at here to replace? The joys of being a scooby owner. Another month, another problem, another bill.
  4. for me it was always 4th to 3rd yet the other way about was fine. i was told that new gearbox oil could help them if it was only a we bit out but mine wa well past it so they had to rip em out and replace a few of them. dont suppose you changed the gearbox oil?
  5. excellent, our own movable pad. now if only those glasses has booze in them.... hint hint.
  6. hmm... is it wrong to say that is growing on me? or is just the original shock has started to calm down a bit. Still think its not as nice looking as the current ones and i do still think it should be a 4 door saloon instead of hatch but its not so bad now. The question is who will be brave enough to show up first at one of the meets with it!
  7. when mine was crunching between 3rd and 4th it was the syncros that needed replaced and not the clutch. don't know what that would cost though as i had mine fixed under warrentte
  8. Yeah deff next season. Killie will eat both of you. [:S]
  9. yeah, they do a mean bargin on used parts as well!
  10. welcome back mate. its been an absolute scorcher here while you've been away. I'm working in Paisley all week so I might stop in before the diners club kick starts its next course.
  11. Yeah we were all quite worried when you stoped half way down the strip. In typical fashoin thogh he did his best time after he had the car fixed so next time we need to break something else. As for the wheel arch... a bit of a bang he says, you should have seen the traffic behind him swerve as this giant bit of plastic flew up into the air accross the road. i was a bit behind them as I had been help up overtaking other traffic and was playing catch up on the dual carridgeway. Still shouldnt be to expensive a part to fix. Just gonna be time consuming having to ge the wheel and flap off to fit it again. Remember to get that exhaust hanger sorted as well.
  12. If you mean the stock sideskirt clips then you should be able to get them from the parts department at any subaru dealer. I had to get the wheel arch clips for mine recently as it came off and they had them in stock at s&s.
  13. He gets back today mate. Being half way round the world is probably as good an excuse for not being there as you can get.
  14. It was indeed a good day out. quite a good showing from the scoobies all round. The heat eventually was just to much for the intercoolers to cope though. This time though i got a nice crack in my windscreen from a wonderful truck kicking up a stone on the way there. One day i will have a day at crail where nothing goes wrong I swear to it!

At least nothing broke on mine this time but god damn was it hot up there today.
  16. dont think he really ment to either but faced with the option of that or going right down the hill that wins.
  17. seriously tempting. will need to see how money is (basically work out if i can afford to be slightly more in debt or not)
  18. L555 KFC is tempting and no its not beaucse of my love of fast food.
  19. I'd love to go again but im afraid that old problem called money is in the way. When you take fuel and entry costs into consideration it costs me £100 for that day out so it won't be a multiple times a month trip for me.
  20. optimax was replaced by v-power. optimax being 98 ron and v-power 99. tesco 99 in funilly enough 99 ron but ive never tried it. Some have said good things about it and some don't like it.
  21. its been ok in kilmarnock for the last 3 months. was a dry spell for about a month before then but that was due to them replacing the tanks that v-power was stored in. They never saw fit to actually post any news they were going to do it or when they expected it to be done so it was pure guesswork.
  22. Well after finding out from jim that a scrappy in auchinlech had some scoobys in for breaking i went of in search. After a good 20 minutes of looking around i found what looked like a donor only to discover that it was an automatic. typical. 10 minutes later and i found an early classic in green which had been striped of almost every part but i was hopeing the clip i needed would still be there. They kindly lifted it up on the forklift for me to check and bingo there it was. Some encouragment later and it was mine. No charge either as they couldn't quite believe thats all i wanted. Fitted it back at the house and now all seems well. Gear change is smooth and the stick isn't jumping up into the cabin when i go into 3rd like it did on the strip. Will be keeping an eye on it to make sure its going to stay fixed. All in all a happy ending to what could have been a lot worse. For those who havn't got a clue here is a pic of the bit that broke (highlighted in red) back in place. A Crail Day Out.... 1 and a 1/2 tanks of fuel - £75 Entry to Crail - £7 Going on the strip - £15 Beaking a clip and pulling your gearstick into the cabin half way down your first run - Priceless
  23. well i'm damn near 2 grand for the insurance since i moved house which put it up. Thats 22 with 2 years no claims and 3 years driving. (spent a year on dads policy before getting my first car) To this day i wish I had gotten a cheep car and started insuring it from 17 just for the no claims. Anyways hopefully more insurers will look at me once i've had it for a year...
  24. Well I know that means I'm going to have fun come renewal time. Thoughts?
  25. I now feel slightly less of a muppet.. but not by much. lol. next time say hi.
