  1. your original suggestion is best, leave it off. Scott Lowe do one for £160. could also try Revolution. DO avoid a stealer replacement. Also, is there no way it can be repaired?
  2. Sorry to hear about your engine Robert - a real downer. Hypertech did a great job on mine, so its in good hands. It's jJust when you are preparing to get the bill, its a butt-clenching, teeth-grinding, heart-stopping moment. Hope it wont cost you too much. Keep us all posted, wont you?
  3. Nice pics. Wet track; not my favourite conditions. Perhaps for the best that I missed this one.
  4. Correct the high-up driving position of your WRX by pushing the lever at the right-hand side of the seat downwards. This will sink you lower in the passenger cell, stop when desired . Correct top-end grunt by installing a VF34 turbo, sports cat and remap. No more speak of this Golf nonsense! If you want to test-drive the afore mentioned configuration, gimme a shout.
  5. Yup. I cannot for the life of me, see what pleasure you can derive from this Iain! very hard work. The results are good but the effort is too much for me! Thanks guys and girl.
  6. Two washes, vacuum, dash cleaned up, windows cleaned, tyre shine, machine polish and machine wax and...
  7. Fantastic pictures!
  8. Does that inlcude your WRX?
  9. When I got my car mapped from the standard 220bhp to 340bhp, I totally destroyed my nearly new standard discs with standard WRX MY06 4-pots (warping and heat fracturing!). Even with the standard power, I ruined a set of discs, but with the remap etc. the destruction was night and day compared to the first time! I now run Brembos (from STI MY04) which are not only much more efficient, they are way more durable as well. The disks I got with the 2nd hand kit were 2 years old and had already seen track days. While they are past their best, there was no destruction. Therefore, buy the best you can afford, especially if you're going to be tracking the car. My tuppence worth.
  10. I defo would
  11. I use it Colin and they are very accurate. I have a few Shell stations around me and the one that it sited as the cheapest, was in every occasion and with the correct price. I got the link to it from here, dunno how you missed it.
  12. Oh to know what all that means!
  13. I was wondering what girl you were talking about Yeah, like most who let their Scoobs go; it ends in regret or sadness. You could always pick up a sorted Classic quite cheaply. It's not the "old girl" but its something or a resemblence, no?
  14. He doesn't have a son racing successfully in Formula Ford and is head mechanic for nothing. Only been in there once to talk to him about compression testing. Helluva nice guy and takes time to discuss things.
  15. Yes you have... welcome to the site mate, enjoy your stay.
  16. Should I worry about it? Is there anything I can do about it, short of installing an oil cooler?
  17. Where is Progrip anyway?
  18. I don't have an opinion on who's best, because to be honest, I don't know enough about geometry to comment, hence the reason why I never made any recommendations in the original post. You can say what you like about suppliers and mechanics and it won't be any skin off my nose, so it's not too real or harsh. All I was questioning was the extent of the analogy which you cleared up and I also thought the "every once in a while" comment was innacurate, that's all.
  19. I see your analogy and can appreciate it, but if you take it to its absolute conclusion its like saying Hypertech do a "Justy" job while Progrip do an "STi" job. I think that might be taking it a bit far. Also, I think it might also be fair to say that Hypertech do geometry more than "once in a while".
