Grant this is my mate's CSL. It's an absolute beauty of a car. Plus as close to a non-depreciating car as you are likely to get these days..
Oh nice! but you should defo buy this: http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=147706

Hi John,
Download the demo of GetDataBack and try to see if it can see any data - it can see drives even if Windows cannot. If it does find anything I can get you a version to use)
Also go online and get the specific HD tool from the manufacturer (what brand is it?) as they can usually fix things a universal HD tool can't - or at least get it working long enough to get your data off it. This page has all the big manufacturers:
http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
Clicking is not good but usually you have some time to get stuff off. Can u scan it at all?
I do data recovery but if you go to the extent of getting the HD opened and the platters read you are talking hundreds of pounds and it has to be sent away to a place with a clean room with men in white suits etc...seriously! I looked into it when our Mac died at work and we had a magazine due out in 4 days - we lost it all. (macs are not good for recovering from - Windows is definitely easier!)
Hope this helps - gimme a shout if u need anything else as there's nothing worse than losing everything in a HD disaster!
Thanks mate, I'll have a wee look through your suggestions when I get a few minutes

I'm the numpty who didn't back up his data and now that the drive has crashed, I have lost all my data. Can anyone do or recommend someone who can recover the data?
The drive has been removed from my laptop and I connected it to my desktop by USB, the drive doesn't show up under My Computer. However, it shows up in the Disk Management Console, but will not respond to "Initialisation". All I'm getting is a clicking sound coming from the drive.
Any help or advice mucho appreciated

Believe they only had servicing and used cars before. Got the letter too, which was nice as the only thing I'd ever bought from them was a washer used when doing an oil change, so they've pretty much blown their profit margin on me!
Good guys, did me a huge favour Anyhoo, I never got any letter

Oh eh she was driving the scooby lol
LOL! Yeah, its her's until sold. I have bought myself a Type S GT Honda Civic on a 59 plate (Now I know what the "S" stands for).
Car going in for MOT tomorrow - 6 months tax - £10.5k. Robert, you only have 2 Scoobs, sure you don't want another???

I'm with Dunk

At £180.00 apparantly its a common fault FFS
Considering the value of the lens i'd say that that wasn't too bad. At least you know its repairable

John...was good to see you yesterday mate and sorry i can't help!
Will be sad to see you go as you've been such a part of the Glasgow group.
But i do see you where you are coming from but the future may have you back again.
Thanks Peter and likewise but I'll be sticking around on the forums etc. And if there is anything that I can help with, I'll do my bit. Afterall, the SIDC is not just about cars, there are too many good people on here that one cannot discard on the basis that I no longer drive the same car. And like you said, who knows what the future holds...

A man of your calibre must be able to get to a mac surely?
Stephen, its bad enough that I have an iPhone never mind getting close to a Mac! I'm not that bothered about it to be honest. I'm sure, given time, there will be a JB solution for my version on the PC

You won't enjoy an everyday car John.
I know... When I park it at my destination, I still find myself looking back at it, admiring it. I'm going to miss it, badly.
It may be mad looking but isn't that the appeal!?Not too mad, tastefully individual I'd say Besides, the stickers come off with ease and if one really wants to, the wheels can be redone to any colour of choice. Then it blends in with the rest
Will be sorry to see you go John.Ach well, I'll still be lurking around enjoying the banter and salivating at all the nice cars thinking, "what an ass I was!"
-
Hopefully the car will be sold on to someone that'll stay in the fold.
You?
If it wasn't so expensive, I'd keep it, I still love the car but its a "head-ruling-heart" decision.
-
P.S. Gaunnae sell us yer forged pistons?
Lol! Ah all the hassle of trying to sell a car now. At least I'm in no rush when the time comes.
-
Jon, check out iClarified.com for a how to guide.

Unfortunately you are unable to jailbreak the 3.1.3 firmware on the iPhone 3GS unless you use PwnageTool for Mac to upgrade to it."
Oh well...

Do the sensible thing and by a classic for the weekend/track. If you looking for a good fun commuting car guy in my work just got a Smart Coupe Brabus, nippy and handles like a go-kart. Think he gets 60mpg and only £110 road tax.
Na. Pretty much done with performance motoring, period. Did the track thing and it was brilliant but not sustainable and I don't drive at the weekends much. Pretty much time to go sensible. Who knows, maybe I'll be back... not that I have gone yet!
-
Nice care mate... I fancy one of these myself.
-
Lost interest...?
Kinda... extortionate running costs, the condtion of the roads are major contributory factors. But the fact that its not being used as a performance car is the real reasson. What's the point of 340/400 if all I'm doing is going back and forth to work everyday. I don't use it at the weekends and the car hasn't seen a hard drive in over a year and that was a Glasgow meet. I'm going to sell it, pay off my bank loan and buy an everyday car on HP. Performance motoring was a phase and not a passion

Spotted today at lunchtime in Tesco Express Renfrew rd Paisley.
Yup, that was me heading home on my half-day... I'll miss these spotted threads, the car is going up for sale soon. Anyone who wants and extra-special WRX with 5 months tax, a years MOT and a host of mods; let me know.
