Yeah. I turned up at AndyF with a full tank of 95RON and he really wasn't happy! He gave me a talking to and said you wll loose 20 BHP and the car wont run as safely, so that urged me to do it. In the meantime, he stuck octane booster in for the map. V Power from now on

I'm not sure... AndyF was saying that performance cars thrive on higher octane stuff and when running the car on track, Crail etc, the higher RON stuff minimises the chance of knocking, thus providing another factor in engine safety. To that end he urged me to use V power which I wasn't going to do and also rcommended octane booster on track days. I'm sure you are having a laugh saying its going to be £2.50, right?

Yes, the main difference is the extra 0.5 and especially the turbo. The VF34 cost me £420 2nd-hand and was recommend by AndyF, along with the TD05 20g. I was lucky enough to get the turbo, as it came off of another driver's written-off car. When I had never seen the TD04, but when I looked at it on the garage floor I thought, "is THAT my turbo?". It was quite a bit smaller than the VF34 and limited power gains are available with it. Driving the car with the V34 even sounds different, you can hear it whoosh as it spools up and when I left of the gas I can even hear the standard DV blow off, so its a new experience. It will take a bit of getting used too as well. I never thought that I'd ever mod my car at all, but I am SOOO glad I did. Can't wait till Saturday and KH to see what it can really do... standard brakes though, hmmmm that's going to be a prob!

Full synthetic: 10w 40. The 5w 30 stuff is a bit too thin. It is likely to cause engine damage if you are ragging the a55 off of your car. If you are a sensible driver, the 5w 30 would probably do it. Wait till the real knowlegeable people come along though.

Trust me: the only performance mods are: VF34 Turbo, Sports Cat downpipe (not even a full decat!) and decatted up pipe. However, no need to purchase this bit cause the MY06 doesn't have a cat in it anyway. And THAT is it! Well that and a tweek or two from that hand of Andy. With those mods and a map your looking at STi beating performance! And that includes a mapped STis with no mods! DO IT!

Niiiice, not a fan of the red flaps though, too much of a contrast IMHO, blue would be nicer giving a more uniformed look. Oh and welcome to the forums with your new name and car!

Nuttin much. Just asked what was on it and where I got it. Said it would have been better wraped thought cause it gives off quite a bit of heat which in turn heats up the intercooler. So, i am on the prowl for an STi cooler! He also sais that my car was faster than an STI and faster than a mapped STi with no mods hehe! That made me grin a bit. Even showed me some mapped graphs overlayed onto mine.
