HairyDJ
Sorry chaps, but I loath this "upgrade". There were 2 simple features that made the old version a joy to use - anything I posted to automatically got added to the "MyForums" table - a really simple way to keep tabs on wherever you were active and to monitor for replies. I've lost my old list - all sorts of things were in there and I haven't a clue where they might be because I could trust the system to hold them for me. I've now got to keep ar$eing around to go back and add them manually or forget what I've got active - not what I'd regard as progress! Secondly, I found it a beautifully simple way to keep an eye on anything new by simply clicking on the "Not Read" section and quickly scanning down everything to see what was interesting - that's vanished too!! I know that there are always going to be teething troubles with an upgrade settling in, so not looking to knock our admin folks for what had to be done for all you folk who chose to join the massive world-wide beta test of IE7. I just can't understand why such simple and useful options have been designed out by the developers in this new release. BTW the built in help files are pretty useless at getting to know much about the new features, and the docs on the vendor's site are pretty awful too. Bottom of the forum page "More Settings" has the option to view all posts or posts you have/have not read (can't remember which) - you can hide the ones you've read I believe. Frenchy - Some of the other options like accessing the other forum pages from the top and bottom of the screen were added at a later date when we first went to CS IIRC. I am sure all these minor but useful things will be looked at shortly. Brian [] Found the More Settings bit eventually - many thanks. Not at the top level, not at message level, but there it is at the bottom of each separate forum section. Now I'm off to play with the settings for every one of them - still won't show me anything new in a simple combined listing. Hadn't spotted Kim's point about the original poster name having gone - that had been rather useful for ignoring some of our newer members gabbling on about all sorts of junk. Most of all, I think I'll miss the gentle touch of some of our ladies posting in pretty pink! - yeeehaa managed to hack that one OK!! Link to comment
wrxmania
Yes - that is a pity [] Link to comment

micra_wrc
I love the way the new forum looks, nice and fresh looking. [Y] But.... Theres a few things I don't like about it..... 1. Threads do not list the authors 2. I'm not keen on the way the time of posts are being listed (ie, 2 hours, 10 mins ago) 3. If you navigate to the bottom of a thread there are no options to go back to General Forums or Main List of sections etc, you need to scroll back to the top of the page. Just my 2pence worth. [:$] agree with comments 1 and 2. Also, there is no indication of how many times a thread has been viewed Link to comment
Scooby_Steve
Looks Good but the search function doesn't seem to be working everything i type in it says it cant find any matches Link to comment
scooby princess
Personally i like it a lot, For me it is a 'pleasant and easy to the eye' forum to which is user friendly and yet up to date. I am able to get smileys and quote again which were things i could not do after updating to ie7. I do not think there is any forum which will satisfy all of its members especially with the amount of members the SIDC have. We got used to the change to the last forum and i am sure we will be able to get on with this one in time. In my opinion instead of saying what we don't like or cant find we should say thank you to those who worked on getting this new forum up with what was the minimal of disruption. Thank you Link to comment

frank c
Why get rid of the "select a forum" at the bottom of the page. Scrolling up and down all the time is starting to get on my t!ts. Link to comment
wrxmania
I doubt it was "got rid of" - it was added in at a later date after the move to community server as an option I believe, so it will no doubt be added in again. Link to comment
frank c
Thanks Brian....can't wait. Cheers for the quick response Link to comment
