About gordon_cross

  1. Just thought you guys might like to see a little bit of Subaru history that i saw at the Brooklands Double Twelve event today. Far cry from the Impreza we have today !! And a Wikipedia link for those interested Here
  2. Try cleaning out your idle control valve. Swill it out with something like carb clearner.
  3. Just putting some feelers out for a friend at work who would like some tinted windows on his Audi A6. If anyone has any recommendations in and around the Heathrow Airport area we would be much obliged. Many thanks.
  4. You shouldn't have to much trouble finding an insurer providing you are not new to driving and seeing that your driver a VR6 i guess you are not. No longer drive an Impreza myself although when i did i favoured A Plan in the end. For me at least nobody else could get anywhere near them. For a jap import you'll need to talk to there Thatchem branch. Friend of mine was enquireing about 555 insurance and it seemed for him Direct line came up trumps. Keith Micheals ls another one which seems favorite here as well. iirc Gary Moleson is the chap you need to speak to on this one. Liverpool and Victora Tesco
  5. Dragging this up from the past a bit.........but iirc Subaru did supply a smaller oil filter for the classic cars. I know when i went to do an oil change i asked the very same question regards filter sizes...........Worry not.
  6. If you use a Subaru 4 pot caliper you will be able to get a 16" wheel over the top. I had an STi v2 car and the std wheels on those would go over 4 pots.
  7. Off topic....... If theres one thing that still ruffles my feathers it's those that still insist on using hand held mobiles. Totally oblivious to there surroundings and condition of the road. Target these people and we might start to see some improovement in road safety figures.
  8. Titanium. If thats what you want i'll see what i can do. Failing that i'd sudjest stainless. Be an industrial finish Sean so not to pretty in it's natural state might be as well if you spray it. Black of course.
  9. Blue Peter moment with the airbox next Sean. Stainless, titanium or alloy, what would you like ?
  10. Hi matey. Yep alls good this end. Not long returned from Sean's, helping sort out that fmic. Slowly slowly the bumper is now just about on. You know how it is mate measure twice cut once Anyways enough of that. The Se7en shes fine thanks Dill. Bit of winter work to keep me amused on those long cold dark nights. Cylinder head off following light oil weepage on start up. Cut a long story short i found there where a few hiddern meres lurking so it had to be reworked by Vulcan Engineering over at Ealing. Whilst i was there had the head modified as well. Larger inlet valves, polished and ported. Heads set up lovely now. This is all on a 1700 Supersprint engine Dill. Bit tricky initially to set up the throttle bodies and get the correct airflow and balance and a sensible idle rpm. Anyway all done now so shes just about ready for the spring and summer. Not long now. Be lovely to drive her with out wearing half me wardrobe everytime i go out. Dill, seem to remember you where tempted with a Se7en where you not ?
  11. Dill, fascinating thread. I'll have to have a proper look through and see what you have been doing since we last spoke all to briefly. You might remember we spoke at a rolling road day that was organised by the old SOX forum. Carl was running the show that day. BA aircraft engineer, we talked avaition for a wee while, touched on Caterham 7's as well.
  12. Induction kit arrived as well. Fantastic. Now then wheres me cardboard. Going to get creative and all that Oil coolers.......emmmm seem to remember we had this conversation oh so many moons ago when i was running mine. Chat about that tomorrow. Guess though if she see's a lot more track time may well make sence. Best do a few first and see just what sort of temperatures the oil does reach. Trying to save you a bit of money Sean Braided pipes........ah yes, but do you have braided brake hoses ? there goes Callams and Ollys pocket money
  13. Like the man said..........Stealthy Looking at those pipes Sean, i think i should have more than enough wrap to do the job. Looking forward to having a play tomorrow. Put the kettle on fella i'm on my way
  14. Blimey that was quick Sean. Best get me finger out tomorrow and get a few bits together for you.
