About Johno_WRX

  1. Thanks for all the replies, some interesting info there. I've already been in touch with A-plan and requested a ring back, had nothing back yet though. Will give them a ring if I've heard nothing by later today. I'm not sure if Liverpool Vic will touch anyone under 25...may be wrong on that, I used to be insured with them when I first passed my test, but I'm sure they've changed recently...still, no harm in trying! And yeah, I've been driving six years now, hopefully that will count towards something! Will definatly be getting a tracker, theres no two ways about that, been looking at Clifford alarms as well and a snap off steering wheel....not 100% needed, but my thinking is...no steering wheel, no way to drive it! Direct Line won't cover me on a UK Turbo 2000, so I doubt theres much chance on an Import! As for the Pulsar, I was a bit baffled by that, they're not my first choice anyway, I'm not vain in the slightest but they have the looks only a mother would love. Also heard one or two stories about brakes and other components being a bit chocolate... Have you had any trouble with bell before? Heard stories (God I sound like an old wife with all these tales....) of peoples NCB not being accepted anywhere as they were on the 10 month accelerator thing, and that also the bell/ elephant umbrella where a bit reluctant to sort out any sort of claim?? As despite them being cheapest so far, I'm a bit reluctant....
  2. ...Again, as with the last post, sorry if this is the wrong section, however just after some advice really. I'm looking to purchase an Impreza WRX STI Type R V.4 in the next couple of weeks if I manage to sell my Golf VR6. Basically my quest for advice lies with insurance. I've had a reasonable quote so far from Bell which I was more than happy with, rang Sky insurance (saw they came recommended on another forum) to see if they could compare, only to be told; "Don't bother with one of them mate, practically impossible to insure them now-a-days" Just thought it seemed a bit strange for an alleged Jap import specialist to turn round and say that, he then suggested a Nissan Pulsar (haven't 100% decided on what to replace my current car with yet) only to come back with a quote that was £1500 more than it was with a mainstream insurance company....tried bell again after I'd finished on the phone to Sky Insurance. So, I apologise in advance if this topic has been covered many a time in detail, just was a bit baffled as to be told that....has anyone else found it difficult to get cover? I know these are specialist cars with a bit of a reputation, but I really didn't think they were that bad?! Also, can anyone recommend a good importer? Seen one or two cars on Pistonheads/ Autotrader etc, but also heard a couple of questionable importers tarting up basically shoddy cars and passing them on. Any help is much appreciated anyway. Thanks in advance, John.
