Just back from Knockhill

Was there and met G.Mac and The Squirrell.

Bit Parky though

I gave a wee wave ('member I new to all this!) to a scooby on the way up and was pleasantly surprised to get a wave and a flash of the lights back - so did the other 16 scoobies I passed on the way back !

Is this mandatory  ?  [;)]

Great day with some sound advice and Fab 1 enjoyed it too !

Not going off topic as it's motoring related and involves someone getting a wee knock after the incident but worth a look.

Another excellent event!

Will post the links to my vids in a day or two.  Not many Subarus in them because most seemed to be piting when I got behind them.  Coincidence probably ;)

Good clip of Scoobaru demonstrating how NOT to take the chicane :D

Cheers

Hi Colin, I was there today and your Golf  was quite -  unbelievably fast.

I sort of wanted to talk to you and the blue Golf driver, but I am new and didn't want to intrude.

Nice car - want to see it again at some point.

Rgds. Alan,Jen and wee Hollie.

Was a great day for me as it ran very smoothly after a bit of a slow start, and driver behaviour on track and the vigilence of the marshalls was spot on [:)]

The Westfield driver was fine, and stayed around most of the event. Despite how it looked, it was mostly just cosmetic damage - bits of the car are designed to "pop out" if there is an impact to protect everything, and that's exactly what they did. Chassis 100% intact, and just some cosmetic work required to the front and rear (not as bad as everone thought though). I've heard from Bill (the owner/drive), and he would like to assure everyone that he is 100% fine, and following investigations, it appears that a mechanical failure (rose joint) may have been the cause of the incident, and that the car itself has just suffered cosmetic damage. He'll most certainly be back again in the future [;)]

Sorry to Wilky stationary after the car was running so well up until the point the gearbox deciced to eat itself (again), though with a bit of luck, it may be something simpler and less expensive like the clutch.

Good to meet everyone in the pit lane. It was a bit cold, but Knockhill veterens will know that it can often be very much colder there than it was today. Even in summer you always pack a warm jacket in the car, though I was cursing myself by forgetting my fleecy hat!

After many requests on the day, I've gone in to see Knockhill about some other dates later in the year. There are some possbilities (like a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon), but I'll need to see what the prices are like. Will keep you all informed.

See you all next time.

mctwist, I kept meaning to find you and offer you a few laps as you were lurking in the pits with a helmet but everyone else kept finding me and demanding a few laps. Think I had about 8 or 9 people out yesterday.

What a day! I had no idea that there would be such a turn out.  The cars were outstanding never seen soo many Subaru's, Lotus and kit cars in the one place.....it was superb.  Really baltic though, and enjoyed watching the race for a wee while before retreating to the car to defrost.

You guy's need to post a location for us 'newbies' to 'home' into when we arrive.  We weren't really sure who to speak too, and who really to approach......so much so that my 'blonde' thing kicked in, and I thought I would start a conversation with one of the Lotus Esprit drivers, who was returning to his car carrying a helmit.

I started the conversation by saying gorgeous car is it your? on reflection he was carrying the key's and opening the car, so no surprise when he answered Yes. My next question was the belter........being are you racing today, he looked the racing helmit and politely replied Yes, with a slight smirk. Ah well trust me to bring the tone of the day down with my usual break the ice, blonde questions.  [;)] [:)]

Would have loved to have spoken to one of you, defo next time for the newbies, be on the look out for Alan-G and Fab 1, trying to discreetly to say hello [:)]
