  1. Just wondering what kind of cost that set you back? Looking to do something similar and trying to find quality work at reasonable price.
  2. Hopefully I'd like to get in on this if I can get my car done in a suitable time frame. Needing and Andy map on my Apexi!
  3. Ah poor thing! I still remember the day letting her go. Glad to hear things are coming together, I'm almost as bad as you, bought this Type-R about 10 months ago then SORN'd it after 250 miles with plans on having it finished by now, gotta love our economy! Never mind fingers crossed i'll actually get something done this summer.
  4. how is my old girl doing duncan? i see your giving her the life she was designed for!! cheers for the input i think a phonecall to SW is on the cards. Playsatan i'm still interested in the gearbox and if it would be possible for someone like sw to give it a clean bill of health it sounds like a good plan! if you could give me a rough idea of price as i'm gonna need to cost the different plans of action.
  5. Yeh I had read that the TY54 boxes are supposidly a bit stronger than the TY52 but have seen people running decent numbers through the TY52 aslong as you respect it. Playsatan what mileage/condition is the box you have in? Fancy PM'ing me a price and gearbox code if you get a second Who is recommended to give gearbox's the once over?
  6. Well finally I'm finding the time to crack on with getting my Scooby tidied up and back on the road and I was hoping someone could help with suggestions about Gearbox's! My current gearbox is a pain to get in 1st and 2nd and I was finding I had to slowly slot it into gear allowing the synchros a few seconds to grip or I would hear it grinding in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Car is a MY98 Type-R gearbox code TY752VB5CA with about 60'000 miles on it. My current setup is 350/400 but was looking at posssibly pushing that to 400/400 or thereabouts. I dont plan on launching it day in day out on a drag strip its mainly B road blasts and possibly the odd track day. Realistically I dont want to spend £2k+ on changing over to 6 speed. What would the suggestions / recommendations be on what to do? Cheers!
  7. Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone could recommend a decent paint repair specialist? Need a rear bumper fixed that has suffered some scratches. Would be ideal for a mobile repairer in the Edinburgh area. Any suggestions? Cheers Ian
  8. Cheers Jase and Arch for the links. Must get my car back on the road before I start to collect my pension!!
  9. Jase, just wondering, your Parallel fuel rail mod, how much braided hose did you need? Also where did you get that and the -6AN fittings? Cheers Ian
  10. Just wondering what tools you used to polish up your alternator and inlet? I'm in the process of stripping down my Type-R and about to do the same. Cheers Ian
  11. Spotted you on the Telly!! You were kneeling down taking a picture of Louise talking to Matt Neil in race 3 if my failing memory recalls correctly!
  12. Aye Col they certainly are addictive btw your famous speedhunters.com time-attack-round-2 5th picture down
  13. Yes i do have a thing for white Scoobies Dunk hope my old chariot is still going strong, I hear on the grapevine shes going 2.1 cant wait to see her again sometime. Cheers for the welcome back guys, good to see some old faces, hopefully we can catch up sometime soon. I always wanted the Type-R but just couldn't afford one those many years ago but managed to get a cracking deal on this little beaut! Currently running a 2.5 bottom end but just standard STi spec no luvley fully forged we will keep that for later main aims are to get chassis, suspension, brakes and gearbox all upto spec for some light competition use. The car has had alot of care through the years with the right names on the right recipets so pretty please with it. At the moment the engine bay is getting a bit of a makeover as i'm a bit of a clean freak as Dunk might remember the day he picked up my old car so currently tidying up some shabby looking brackets and what not. Also on the lookout for a Oil Catch Can, FPR and Oil Cooler before seeing if AndyF can work some magic.
  14. Hello lads and ladies just thought I would pop my head in and say hello! 17. Yeh this is my day job, been playing with computers since i got hooked at primary school! Ok its clear that you have no ethernet problems as you have always been able to access the router config pages so wireless can be forgotten about. Getting a wee bit confused about your current status on lights now. Is it the case that the ADSL led (telephone symbol) is solid Green and the Internet led (little globe) is solid Red for 2-3 mins then goes off?
  18. Still no luck i see. What model of Belkin Router is it? My previous response was slightly off after hearing you say you have a telephone line light and an internet light so here goes again. If you are now getting a Solid Green ADSL light (the little telephone symbol) that means your connected to your ISP so you now have a physical connection from your router all the way to your ISP. So next stage is to look at router configuration. The Internet light flashing Red would indicate that you are not properly receiving an IP from your AOL. I'm guessing you aren't paying for anything like a Static IP usually an additional cost with an ISP (not sure AOL even offers this). If not then check your ADSL settings, it will probably be under WAN Settings make sure that the option for Static IP is NOT ticked. You may want to run through all the settings, with AOL they should be the following. PPPoA with VC Mux or PPPoE with LLC Based VPI 0 VCI 38 AOL UserID needs to have @aol.com at the end i.e. roadrunner@aol.com Password needs to be 8 chararcters long or less MTU (Optional) set to 1400 If after all that you still cannot get an IP then i would get on the phone to AOL. Good Luck!
  19. Just my 2p worth... Unplug all your phones and any extensions out of your MLB (Master Line Box) this is your main BT socket that is first point of entry in your house. Get yourself a wired telephone and plug it into the MLB and dial 17070 and select option 2 for "Quiet Line Test". Listen for any static or crackling on your line. Listen for a couple of minutes and see if there is any pulse or whooshing at any point. If after 2 minutes you still have a nice clear quiet line then you can realistically rule out a faulty physical line (well unless the line is taking a beating on windy days etc) - If you do hear something then unscrew the faceplate and repeat the previous step. If the noise has disappeared then you likely have a wiring issue within your house to one of your extensions. At this point you are at your mercy of your ISP. BT will not deal with any broadband related issues as this is the responsibility of the BT Wholesale Department and they will not deal with Joe public directly. Make sure your router has the correct settings mainly your VPI/VCI numbers and your account name and password. If you are sure these are correct and are still getting the flashing telephone light it’s time to phone your ISP. Get onto AOL and tell them that your ADSL is trying to Synchronise but not fully authorising (your telephone light is flashing but not going solid). Usually it’s the ISP servers that have a problem with your login credentials and a simple reset at their end will allow you to connect again. Hope you get it sorted!
  20. Finally got a chance to get these off the camera. Got myself a new piece of kit and spent the night getting used to being able to fill the frame with a whole car so not as many photos I would have liked but more can be found on Stillspeed.com
  21. Yeh its open, i've been their the last two days trying to fix the computers that some dodgy technician reinstalled!!!
  22. Ah so the SICC was represented by some fine photographers at the Jim Clark, cracking pictures guys! Somehow though i managed to bump into no one! decided to hit some spots that i thought would be a away from most people to get a clear shot. Heres a wee selection, I shot somewhere in the region of 1500 photos so its taken this long to look through and choose some favourites! Some others can be found as per usual on Stillspeed.com

  24. Snap! I get the same thing happening to me all the time. But in this case it’s me in my little diesel van pottering along the motorway at 65, come up to a slow going car doing about 60 so I move out to overtake and then usually as I’m alongside them, they see the little van and for some reason feel that they need to prove their manhood against my 1.7d and leave me hanging in the outside lane. Spent quite a few thousand miles on the road in the last 14 months and every week some n0b surprises me with another completely dumb road manoeuvre! Think its time for missiles in the headlights that'll sort the eejits out!
