A great day out

Recommended Posts

Just back in the door and sat down with a frosty glass of coke.

What a great day out. Grant and Imy - thanks for organising another top run. You're both a credit to the Subaru community.

The weather held out for the most part, and we were blessed with some great roads and great scenery to drive through. I hope my "medium" pace was just about right for everyone. The road from sanquhar to crawford john was absolutely quality and I couldn't help just nudging the loud pedal that wee bit further at times, but I tried to run it at a good rhythm and not mad dives on the brakes. That and the road out of Innerleithen were my own highlights of the day.

And yes, I did lead my followers the wrong way twice. Once through crawford rather than the bypass, probably added 5 minutes on. Then took maybe a 5 mile detour as I missed the drumlanrigh turn, and then had to stop as I couldn't see if we were at full numbers. And the Slow group nipped passed us it seems. Oh the embarresment.

Just back myself with my rugrat, Kiera.  She throughly enjoyed the day and would like to pass on our thanks Imy and Grant.  Superb day.

Although I nearly wiped me and the bairn out (I'm an irresponsible parent, I know) whilst hitting the loud pedal too early off a roundabout, but recovered well.  (changed me knickers at the next stop[:$])

Now Imy, what was this about the slow group being slow[:|]  The old yins and yourself had a great day with some nice flames and pops coming out of Tam's beast.

Cheers folks.

have to agree with the above Stephen, excellent day and credit to Squirrel and Imy, top job! Also thanks to Gumball for kicking the whole thing off, nice one [:)]

Well, another 200 miles added to the 1000 required to break my new toy in, fancy another run anyone [:)]

Cheers,

Neil.

just sorry i couldnt make it today. its not really the same when you dont have a scoob anymore so i decided to go fishing then watch the football.

I do however keep clicking on the lichfield imports page and looking at 2006 models of a spec variety so hopefully ill either get one soon or get over it.

what a great day!

thank you to everyone that turned up (30 cars went on the run)

hope those in the slow group found the pace ok - i found myself going that bitty faster when i had the road to myself and was able to see at least 4-5 corners in front of me [:)]

it was the RA's fault...... honest LOL [:P]

i think it was the most successful run we've done so far - no one got lost (well except for the man wi the big claithes) and the driving was ace.  the staggered starts worked out well and there was enough time to grab lunch and even get a BBQ going [:)]

only encountered one slow-a$s sunday driver - old fella in a micra no less

apart from that we were lucky with the traffic (quiet roads)

highlight for me was when we had pulled over after the Crawfordjohn road to regroup and enthuse about how awesome that road was.... when the medium group turned up behind us...... we were waiting for the fast group to rumble through as well PMSL

thanks to STi_Bandit for going ahead and getting footage

bit miffed that some of you didnt see the red bags - it took us ages to get that done - but never mind, it still worked well and may use that concept again in future

will post pics once I have edited them

Huge thank you to all that attended

Would like the thank the Traffic Police of all the regions we passed through for not being in the same area as us

Would also like to thank the local authorities for carving some pretty god damn good roads out of the Scottish landscape

Clear run through the Grey Mares Tail into Moffat was a particuler highlight after the run up the side of St Mary's Loch

Very high standard of driving with excellent restraint showed when it needed to be shown and i thank everyone for that

Another note of gratitude goes to the fellow group leaders, sterling job people

Cheers to the Forestry truck for letting me use his wagon as a Squirrel perch

Final thanks go to Fuji Heavy Industries for building such a god damn good car

Round of applause for all of us for making it a cracking run, arguably the best run the forum has had

Thanks to Grant and Imy for a wonderful day......Imy you certainly know how to floor it when required I must say.....all of our group behaved very well which made all the much better with no pressure to push on......good steady (not so slow) pace seemed to be the order of the day....

Highlight for me and my co-driver buddy FrazA  has to be the sound of the full decats going under the tunnel heading out of Abingdon.......we laughed for about 10miles after that.....

also thanks to Brian and Tam as usual for the catering facilities which provided my top up sausage roll.......

All in all a great day.......shame for those that missed it though.....

Blown away by the organisation that went into this run... Grant & Imy, WOW!! The 'bags on poles' idea was VERY good IMHO, removes the need to take chances to keep up with the guy in front in case you get lost on your own. [H]

Turnout wasn't all that was expected, however, those that did turn up... made it an awesome day... Great standard of driving, quality cars, amazing roads, light traffic.. I could go on and on and on!! [:)]

Special thanks will go to Higgy for stopping when I had my wee 'problem' during Stage 1... That leatherman saved the day for me!! [:)]

Cheers,

Grant

I've been a member for over 18 months now and today was the best meet/run i've been on [Y]

Mahoosive thanks to Grant & Imy for doing the organising, the best bit of the day for me was the road between Peebles & Moffat - the bit where we went past a loch - the roads were nice & open at both sides and long sweeping bends.

The slow group wasn't going that slow was it!

Loved that Lancia and was v. jealous of Neil's new car - it's stunning close up.

Guess that will be the last run before the bad weather sets in, if so then i'm looking forward a run in the spring?
