Ross9 Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Hi peeps, thought I better join in, I did have, or rather still do but will be selling it, a modified Rover coupe turbo, some of you may have seen it at the end of last year as I attended one of your Knockhill track days in it in october/november, pretty wet day, stuck an in car vid of it up on here as well. Well the time came for a change so I have gone and gotten myself a scoobie. It's a 1997 Version 4 Sti Type R. Pretty much standard power wise, hayward and scott front pipe and a Blitz NUR spec exhaust, HKS panel filter. Had it for about a week now and loving it. I'll be taking it up to Crail for the banzai day and see how it gets on, no more scrabbling the first 150metres like in the Rover lol. Heres a few pics, no doubt see some of you at various events. Ross

rapidcossie Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 hope its had a remap with those mods or its just waiting to blow...
colin_ross Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 hope its had a remap with those mods or its just waiting to blow... Thats a bold statement. I ran my type r with simlar mods and no remap and it had no det whatsoever. As long as the fueling is up to scratch (pump and fpr) and booster is used it should be fine. Some sort of det monitoring would be a very good idea also. Nice car BTW [Y]
rapidcossie Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 depends on how you drive it i think... hold it flat and your in trouble.. a knocklink or afr meter is a must then.
rossyboy1 Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Nice motor. You're going to be popular with all those neighbours with a Blitz Nur Spec []
colin_ross Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 depends on how you drive it i think... hold it flat and your in trouble.. Not sure what you mean here. Do you mean full throttle or a top speed run? If you mean full throttle then I'm not sure what problems this would create if the fueling's sorted. If you mean top speed run then it would be no more prone to det than any other Subaru with a top mount intercooler.
G.T. Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 back to the thread chaps nice car mate and welcome to the forums [Y]
oobster Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Welcome to the forums, thats a nice motor car you got there [Y]
Ross9 Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 Oh Ross! I thought you were buying one fo those cars off that other forum [:^)][:$] Nice motor mate That had been the plan but decided to spend a bit less on the new car and keep some money for other things, gf and I are looking to move to a bigger place etc. The Scooby was a few grand cheaper and I'm glad I went that way, the car is a lot of fun. Rapidcossie - the car has not had a remap as far as I am aware, you can't reflash the ECU in the Version 4. It had been running higher than standard boost when i got the car but I turned it back down again, it's nice and rich, will be getting octane booster for whenever it's driven hard etc and it's most likely I will have fit an Apexi PowerFC in the near future once I sell the Rover so that the car can be mapped for UK fuel etc, it's not suffering from any det and is definately rich enough and out on the road I dont rev it anywhere near right out either. Before I go to Crail next week I'll be getting an oil and filter change done for peace of mind, and while I'm doing that I'll borrow the wideband from the garage and check the AFR on it. Thanks for the comments from everyone else as well. Ross
