About Ross9

  1. Car sold, being collected this weekend and I'm using my track car for work so nothing happens to the scooby. The following was true though. Do you commute via a car: Yes Do you take your scooby: Yes How many miles do you commute to work: 30 or so miles I think How lond does it take you: 20-30 mins Do you ever take the long way home: Only if there was a reason to do so.
  2. Thats the target area for your car, you crazy horse. With regards to the other peoples readings being a bit off, there could well be an issue with the sensor used to obtain the AFR because too many cars had an issue with AFR for it to be coincedence. Looking at Playsatan's graph for the first run, the AFR drops into the 12.5 region after 5000rpm but on the second run it holds a flat 11.5 after 5000rpm. If this was a direct corelation to the power produced then he would have seen more power on the first run due to the leaner AFR but the first and second run were pretty consistent. This would point, IMHO, to an issue with the wideband sensor not being consistent. With the amount of cars running leaner than safe AFR i am surprised there is not a pile of Subarus and the end of the Industrial Estate with melted pistons. As Craigwrx said, too many for it to be coincedence I should have put mine on the rollers as i know the AFR of my car under load, mapped to 11.2 and 11.2 is what appears on the AFR meter. This was checked after extensive testing with STI_Bandit on the main road.............which was fun Safe AFR for a turbo car is about the 11 - 1 region when the car is holding boost Depends I would have thought, I've ran my Rover at 12.0-12.5 AFR for a while now, done lots of 1/4 days, KH, top speed runs at TOTB etc, head off and not a single hint of det. Could well have a point about the AFR sensor. The Rover didn't boost as high as I had set it up too during the week, I set it up to 20psi, tailing off a tad to 1.8.5ish in the last 1000rpm. On the rollers it got to 18 at most and was at 16psi by the time power peaked due to the controller not being set right (my own fault for not checking it after cleaning it out), anyway, as background info, the way my car is set up, is that the MAP voltage is capped at 14psi, after this, no matter how high the boost goes, the ecu still sees 14psi as there is a fuel cut at 14.5 (the car is way over standard spec and fine to run like this) , it basically gets set up at WOT with a wideband up the tailpipe and I adjust the fuel rail pressure to suit until I get the AFR right. Anyway with all that in mind, with the boost beign about 2psi low through the whole rev range and me not having touched the fuel rail pressure , the ecu would still have been injecting the same amount of fuel but with less boost (air) coming into the mix, it should have been notably richer than when I set it up just 6 days ago, however it was reading pretty much the same, maybe even slightly leaner than the wideband was reading when I set it up. So I would say the one I used read richer than the one at dastek, which one is right I obviously cant say, but I've always used the same one to set the car up to mid to low 12's AFR, and it's never blown up yet. 3. excellent day out. thumbs up for the work put in and an impressive amount of money raised. It was a long day and there were die hards there right till the end, despit it being after 6pm before I got on the rollers, I never felt fed up etc, was chat to be had and a good bunch of guys there. Still regretting not asking them to print out my 805bhp run lol, happy with the real figures as well though considering down a few psi. Hopefully get along to some more SIDC stuff soon even if it is in a Rover and not the scooby, nobody shunned me lol. Thanks again Ross

  5. Still working my way through the first tank in the type R. I always fill the car up though, never just stick £10 or £20 in it as it's false economy anyway. Usually get 250/260 ish to a tank, think the highest I've had is just under 280. So will see how this tank goes on the v-power as opposed optimax. Ross
  6. To be honest, FRB way will be quicker to Dastek as well. Especially at that time of the morning. All motorway and then 5 mins from the other end of the bridge to Dastek. I might try and join up with the FRB people with the Rover, and my better half might bring the scooby along as well for me in case any of you want to buy it lol. However with the non-scoobs being on the rollers last, there may be a large chance we wont head up till later on and have a nice lie in. Ross
  7. At the risk of being biased, I'd say go with a 2 door Type R, got to say I love mine, I've driven a lot of different performance cars and got to say the type R is one of the nicest cars to own and drive I've come across but a change of other priorities mean I need a diesel runaround instead , it's for sale in the for sale section. A bit older than your looking at there, however it has full history and a genuine 42500 miles on it, jap history as well, unmolested and made 291 bhp with just the blitz exhaust. Timing belt service carried out 4 months ago, just had oil and filter last week etc etc, imo a stunning example and it's not driven hard etc, part of why I'm selling it is because I don't need a car capable of as much when I never use it. Bit of an ad, but I guarantee if you view this you will take it. and it's under your budget as well. Ross
  8. Excellent, good to hear the additions are working well, 2seconds is a good amount to pick up. Ross
  9. Nice clips indeed Colin, car looks to be going well. How did you find the 888's and new diff then? making a good improvement on the fwd traction? Ross
  10. Excellent, I knew you'd have fun Martin, glad to hear you didn't come a cropper lol, the fact you were heading home from work at 5am just as I started and were due at KH at 8, for your first track day at KH, did concern me lol. Glad to hear both car and driver escaped unscathed though lol. Ross
  11. Everything is giant indeed, anout 5 mins from me, but the quality isn't the best to be honest. Definately a quantity over quality place. Ross
  12. So does anyone know when this will be officially launched, and if there is any list of where it can be obtained. Having an STi Type R being able to get 100RON straight from the pump would be great news. Cheers Ross
  13. Nah not really actually, never like a lunatic. Quickly on occasion, but actualy not that often. Why do I have my Sti4 type r, because it's nice to drive, quick when needed to be, lots of fun on a b-road without being a lunatic, drove from Lanark to Peebles and back again earlier to drop the gf off for a hen-spa thing, never got over 90 leptons the whole way and still had a huge amount of fun without annoying anyone and actually getting waves of acknowledgement for approaching slower cars at a sedate speed and waiting for them to indicate me to pass if the visibility wasnt clear enough.
  14. Quite a poor review for it then it seems. Went to see it last night, in all honesty I enjoyed it, the first film was the novelty factor as there hadn't been a film with modern tuned jap cars in it before, not that I was aware of anyway. The 2nd film was absolute pish in every sense. Tokyo drift was far better than the 2nd one, and I've seen the first one quite a few times so can't fairly compare them as obviously it's the type of film that will lose it's appeal once you've seen the drivign sequences a few times etc. I was pleasently surprised as I expected it to be a lot worse, the evo that managed to hit pallet stackes etc and only lose it's spoiler was the only bit I noted as being silly, no 80mph reversing, or EVO's going flat out and struggling to accelerate past 90 etc as in the 2nd one, and no disintegrating cars through going too fast as in the 1st one. Some proper driving as well by all accounts as most of it was done with stunt and drift drivers by all accounts. Finally, those that were dissapointed but liked the cars and women, isn't that what you go t see a fast and furious film for, anyone going expecting nice cars, nice girls, AND a riveting plot etc, is being naive imo, the first two films should have made it perfectly clear what was to be expected of it.
