st3ph3n Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Nasty! Any more damage? Alignment, suspension, bodywork?
dougster Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Don't like the way that has cracked!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nasty. []
herbie Posted February 6, 2006 Author Posted February 6, 2006 Yeah the person is paying for the damage. Im amazed the tyre stayed on the rim! Needs new lower suspension arm and a track rod end and geometry reset. A new wheel and toyo cost £151. Any ideas on cost of suspension arm and rod end??
herbie Posted February 6, 2006 Author Posted February 6, 2006 Thank goodness the bumper and body work was untouched. Must have hit that kerb at some speed!!
Fee Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Ouch [] Nice wheels though (apart from the damage [])
clutdav Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Ouch looks like a painful one. Atleast the individual that did it is going to pay for it. Dave
oobster Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Ouch. At least the person is going to pay for the damage. Agree with Dougster - not liking the way that has cracked. Wonder where/how these Inovit wheels are made. Especially since I have a set sitting @ home waiting to go on my car once the weather improves!
ANDYJDMSTI Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 not nice!!! [] Am amazed that people with performance cars actually lend them out, don't they realise what will happen??? i.e car gets beasted cos the lendee thinks they are Schumacher which usually ends in tears. Oh well hard lesson learnt i suppose

johns Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 I'd also get the strut checked out as well, and the front wheel bearing may also now be damaged. Unfortuantely, you might not be able to tell until it's all put back together again, so given the relative low cost of replacing the bearing at the same time, I'd opt to get that done now. I had a similar incident about 6 years ago, where a local council had failed to remove a large rock at the side of a B road (right on the apex of the corner). They had in fact tarred up to the rock, around it and behind it. I didn't notice it (it was a dull, wet November day) until I went back to look. I had to replace wheel/tyre, front ABS sensor, wheel bearing, lower suspension arm and strut (replaced both fronts actually). Cost me about £450 in total, which I couldn't claim from the council, as they had inspected the road within the past 18 months which is their minimum legal obligation. John

Edinburgh-Chris Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Unlucky mate, judging by the photo, the wheel location has shifted back slightly. Thats a killer mate. If you need anything, i have first dips on a number of classics for breaking at the moment. Let me know if you need any help. Chris

paul_honthy Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Nasty one mate!!! Was the culprit thrashing it? My brother-in-law lent me hisd 380 bhp sapp cossie last year and the piston decided to punch a hole threw its-self.In total it was going to cost about 2K at Greers for a rebuild to the same spec.He ended up selling the motor for abou 2.5K I felt really bad.Fortunately my brother-in-law knows i treat other peoples motors with respect and that i wasn't to blame!
gus the bus Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Ouch! What an inconsiderate twat doing that to your motor! I wouldn't let AN OTHER near driving my Subaru again. Gave my brother a shot the day after I bought it and took it along the Aberlady-Gullane Rd. Lets just say i'm glad its still in one piece.[au] Mind you he is used to driving slippy sloppy Mercs So, my moto is- if you can't afford yer ain tough![]
