scouk
WTF! I'm still over £555 (pun intended) for mine and that's low milage I'd be happy with sub £500! let alone £400! Tried Shopping around last near but no one could come within £100 of Keith Michaels. Edited November 17, 2012 by ScoUK Link to comment
euan_r
funnily enough, if i drive it for prolonged periods the use of a stick or zimmer frame would be beneficial. Thats on under 6k milage alan, though its usually broken so half of that would be optimistic. Link to comment
scouk
Thats on under 6k milage alan, though its usually broken so half of that would be optimistic. Yeah I dropped mine down to 6k annual milage 3 years ago after getting 2nd car. But made sod all difference Link to comment

barry_sti
I renewed mine start of this month. Got the automatic through from aviva £750 a £180 more than the previous year so shopped around couldn't get it much cheaper so decided to go back on to aviva and got a quote as a new customer. To my surprise it was £393 fully comp and the other half as a driver. So I canceled my original renewal and opened up a new policy. Job done!! Link to comment
euan_r
Thats fairly saved you a few bob. Can i ask if your car is import? I tried aviva online quote but was told they couldnt provide a quote based on my details. My details are all decent ( im not stevie wonder/ axe murderer/ been on geordie shore etc) so presumed car being import must have been issue. Link to comment
johnmacdonald
Sorry to possibly upset people, but WRX PPP with all mods disclosed, cost me £295.11 in March with Aviva under a multi car policy. Included AA breakdown, legal expenses and protected NCD, but subject to a £600 excess. One of the few benefits of being 64!! However, the WRX has 43 years NCD entitlement, and I have the feeling that the premium won't be so attractive next year. At least drawing my old age pension will provide... Link to comment

ciaranrb5
I'm £600 for the P1 aged 29, 6NCD and 3 points. That's all mods declared (320bhp) and agreed value of £8k Link to comment
scouk
£570 here on 2001 WRX various modifications (all declared individually, intake/exhaust/styling/suspension/wheels same turbo/engine as standard) & circa 280bhp, 32y/o, 8 years NCD, IAM certificate, kept overnight in locked garage, low mileage (less than 6k), Clean licence... howard a
Interesting to compare premiums, although as Aviva advised me, 'you can't compare one policy to another'. Me being a 41 yr old male, driving for 23 years, full NCB and never a point on my licence. Impreza Turbo 2000, MY 2000, no performance mods, just a non-standard stainless steel exhaust and leather interior. Increased mileage limit from 4000 to 8000 as sold other car. Overnight on driveway. Renewal quote received was approaching £600. Phoned around (never get a good deal online when any mods are involved), Aviva initially quoted around £700 which apparently included a 15% discount as I'm 'an exiting Aviva customer and we want your business', when I expressed my 'surprise' at the level of the premium, it soon reduced to around £570. How can they suddenly lose over £100 from a premium?? :huh:/> I pointed out that a friend of mine had recommended Aviva as he insured his 2005 Porsche 911 Convertible for <£200, this is where 'you can't compare one policy to another' came from, or so I'm told........hang on, a higher performance car, worth I guess, at least 5 times the value of my Impreza, but insurance is third of the price. It just doesn't add up. A couple of other quotes brought the price down to around £530, which my existing broker matched.....so how did they manage to lose around £70 from the renewal premium, which in itself was 'competitively priced to match all my needs'? I won't advertise who they are. Those of you sub £400 have an absolute bargain in my view, make the most of it. Link to comment
johnmacdonald
When talking about modifications, I'm absolutely convinced that it all depends upon who you speak to on the day. Originally, Aviva were reluctant to quote on our lightly modded WRX, but on having insisted on talking to somebody higher up, who then referred to an underwriter (an endangered species in these days of call centres), excellent premium, terms and conditions agreed. Job done. Also recall referring to a "specialist" performance car broker a few years ago - all mods agreed, but front big brake upgrade resulted in a no quote!! Pure bonkers... Link to comment
highlandflyer
I had a pleasant surprise when my renewal arrived today from Tesco's thought £320 was reasonable last year for my 2005 WRX ppp fully comp for me and misses both 40 odd, 5k p.a garaged. Was expecting a slight increase as we usually have to start the quotes every year but not this time, £223 you beauty, beat that! Better get it paid for quick in case they messed up. Lets hope they lower car tax in the budget HAHA Link to comment

cullenmin
Who have you gone with for the best quote Euan? Some companies just dont like imports or mods so they quote high, ones ive used in the past have been A plan and Keith Michaels (Gary Moulson). Rich Link to comment
euan_r
Admiral but your white one will be too modified for them, you will get cover for your green one though. A-plan have always been very competitive too and not so disapproving of bigger mods, i will need to switch next year. Link to comment

scouk
Admiral/Elephant I've found cheapest for standard or near standard cars.. Originally had the Impreza insured with them until the mods outgrew their policy (Still remember my first SIDC meet when I said I'd never modify the car because I wanted to keep the insurance cheap.. oh-well!) You'd think the two would price the same but I've always been cheaper with Elephant (Had the Ka and now the focus insured with them) but my bro has always been cheaper from admiral.. Odd.. Both being part of the same group do multicar discount, and named drivers build their own NCD on the policy! IIRC you can get away with up to 3 categories of mods with them, They were ok with new springs and couple body changes on mine but they wouldn't cover any more than that. Power increase is a no no.
